Thomaston Historic District

Thomaston is a census-designated place (CDP) comprising the main village in the town of Thomaston in Knox County, Maine, United States. The population was 1,875 at the 2010 census, out of 2,781 in the town of Thomaston as a whole.

Thomaston, formerly known as Fort St. Georges, Fort Wharf, and Lincoln, is a town in Knox County, Maine, United States. The population was 2,739 at the 2020 census. Noted for its antique architecture, Thomaston is an old port popular with tourists. The town was named after Major General John Thomas.

The Mill River is a tributary of the Saint George River in Thomaston, Maine. From the confluence (44°05′57″N 69°10′03″W) of Branch Brook and Meadow Brook, the river runs 2.7 miles (4.3 km) south to the head of the estuary of the Saint George.

The Finnish Congregational Church and Parsonage is a historic church at 172 St. George Road in South Thomaston, Maine, United States. Built in 1921, with the parsonage (now a Finnish heritage center) added about 1925, the church represents one of the earliest formal expressions of Finnish-American culture in the region. The buildings were listed on the National Register of Historic Places in 1994.

The Oyster River is a tributary of the Saint George River in Knox County, Maine. From its source (44°11′29″N 69°09′42″W) in Rockport, the river runs 12.5 miles (20.1 km) south and southwest to its confluence with the Saint George. Its lower third forms the border between Warren and Thomaston.

The Timothy and Jane Williams House is a historic house at 34 Old County Road in Rockland, Maine. Built about 1859, it is one of the finest local examples of Italianate architecture, and was built for someone closely associated with the area's important 19th-century lime processing industry. It was listed on the National Register of Historic Places in 2005.

Owls Head Transportation Museum is a working museum located at Owls Head, Maine. Beginning with a suggestion put forward by Thomas J. Watson Jr., CEO of IBM, who maintained a home nearby, the museum was established in 1974 by the Owls Head Foundation. Its stated mission is to collect, preserve, exhibit and operate pre-1940 aircraft, ground vehicles, engines and related technologies significant to the evolution of transportation for the purpose of education. At the time of its founding, their collection comprised two automobiles, two aircraft, a high-wheel bicycle and a 100-ton steam engine, but has now grown to approximately 125 objects.

The Maine State Prison was erected in Thomaston, Maine in 1824 and relocated to Warren in 2002. This maximum-security prison has a capacity of 916 adult male inmates with an average daily population of 900.
