Fort St. George (Thomaston, Maine)

The Thomaston Historic District encompasses much of the historic town center of Thomaston, Maine. With a settlement history dating to the 17th century, the town is now a showcase of 19th-century architectural styles up to the 1870s. The district extends for about 2 miles (3.2 km) along United States Route 1, and was listed on the National Register of Historic Places in 1974.

Built in 1921, with the parsonage (now a Finnish heritage center) added about 1925, the church represents one of the earliest formal expressions of Finnish-American culture in the region. The buildings were listed on the National Register of Historic Places in 1994.

The Maine State Prison was erected in Thomaston, Maine in 1824 and relocated to Warren in 2002. This maximum-security prison has a capacity of 916 adult male inmates with an average daily population of 900.

The Timothy and Jane Williams House is a historic house at 34 Old County Road in Rockland, Maine. Built about 1859, it is one of the finest local examples of Italianate architecture, and was built for someone closely associated with the area's important 19th-century lime processing industry. It was listed on the National Register of Historic Places in 2005.

Owls Head Transportation Museum is a working museum located at Owls Head, Maine. Beginning with a suggestion put forward by Thomas J. Watson Jr., CEO of IBM, who maintained a home nearby, the museum was established in 1974 by the Owls Head Foundation. Its stated mission is to collect, preserve, exhibit and operate pre-1940 aircraft, ground vehicles, engines and related technologies significant to the evolution of transportation for the purpose of education. At the time of its founding, their collection comprised two automobiles, two aircraft, a high-wheel bicycle and a 100-ton steam engine, but has now grown to approximately 125 objects.
