Summit is an unincorporated community in LaPorte County, Indiana, in the United States.Summit was named for its lofty elevation.The community lies about 4 miles (6.4 km) northwest of LaPorte and about 8 miles (13 km) southeast of Michigan City. Summit is at the intersection of West Johnson Road and county highways W 250 N and N 500 W. It is about 1 mile (1.6 km) northwest of the Indiana Toll Road (Interstate 90).

Springville is an unincorporated community in Springfield Township in northern LaPorte County, Indiana, at the intersection of U.S. Route 20 and Indiana Route 39, less than one mile north of the LaPorte exit on the Indiana Toll Road. It took its name from a large spring that formerly flowed near the town.Springville is the site of the Springville Free Methodist Church, built in 1891. Businesses in the town include two large gas stations serving highway travelers, and a large mobile home park. Springville is part of the Michigan City Area Schools school district. The Springville area was originally almost entirely forest, but is now a mixture of forest and farmland. The town stands on a low hill that divides the watershed of Trail Creek from the Galena River, which rises a short distance to the east in the Springfield Fen, which provides habitat for a variety of rare plants and animals.

William Orr House, also known as the Orr-Richter House, is a historic home located in Center Township, LaPorte County, Indiana. It was built in 1875, and is a 2+1⁄2-story, Eastlake movement style brick dwelling, with Italianate and Gothic Revival style design elements. It features a 3+1⁄2-story central tower with a mansard roof and full width front porch.: 2 It was listed on the National Register of Historic Places in 1984.

Ames Family Homestead is a historic home and farm located in Center Township, LaPorte County, Indiana. The Captain Charles Ames House was built in 1842, and is a 1+1⁄2-story, Federal style frame dwelling. It has a split granite stone basement and a gable roof with dormers. The Augustus Ames House was built in 1856, and is a 1+1⁄2-story, Greek Revival style frame dwelling. It sits on a brick foundation and sheathed in clapboard siding. Also on the property are the contributing traverse frame barn (1838), privy (c. 1930), ice house (c. 1930), cow shed (c. 1900), corn crib (c. 1930), chicken coop (c. 1940), silo (c. 1930), water pump (c. 1900) driveway marker (c. 1880), and wood shed (c. 1915).: 3 It was listed on the National Register of Historic Places in 2012.

Downtown LaPorte Historic District is a national historic district located at LaPorte, LaPorte County, Indiana. The district encompasses 70 contributing buildings in the central business district of LaPorte. It developed between about 1860 and 1930, and includes examples of Queen Anne, Romanesque Revival, and Neoclassical style architecture. Notable buildings include the Zahrt Blocks (1868, 1874), Ridgway Hotel (1863), Higday and Collins Blocks (1886–1888), LaPorte County Courthouse (1890–1894), Odd Fellows Building (1895), Lonn's Block (1889), People's Bank (1912), U.S. Post Office (1912), New York Central Depot (1909), Masonic Temple (1910), and Hotel Rumely (1912).It was listed in the National Register of Historic Places in 1983.

The LaPorte County Courthouse is a historic county courthouse in La Porte, Indiana, the county seat of LaPorte County. It was designed by Brentwood S. Tolan and built from 1892 to 1894. It is Richardsonian Romanesque architecture in style and was built with Lake Superior Red Sandstone. The building includes a tower with skylight, gargoyles and contains stained glass. It is listed on the National Register of Historic Places. The courthouse is part of the Downtown LaPorte Historic District.

It is one of the two principal cities of the Michigan City-La Porte, Indiana metropolitan statistical area, which is included in the Chicago–Naperville–Michigan City, Illinois–Indiana–Wisconsin combined statistical area. La Porte is located in northwest Indiana, east of Gary, and west of South Bend. It was first settled by European Americans in 1832. The city is twinned with Grangemouth in Scotland.

It was built in 1904, and is a 2+1⁄2-story, frame dwelling in an eclectic combination of popular revival styles including Tudor Revival, Gothic Revival, Classical Revival, and American Craftsman. It has a hipped roof with dormers, a two-story sleeping porch, Palladian window, and stuccoed areas with curved corner pieces.: 2 It was listed on the National Register of Historic Places in 1984. It is located in the Indiana and Michigan Avenues Historic District.
