Downtown LaPorte Historic District

The LaPorte County Courthouse is a historic county courthouse in La Porte, Indiana, the county seat of LaPorte County. It was designed by Brentwood S. Tolan and built from 1892 to 1894. It is Richardsonian Romanesque architecture in style and was built with Lake Superior Red Sandstone. The building includes a tower with skylight, gargoyles and contains stained glass. It is listed on the National Register of Historic Places. The courthouse is part of the Downtown LaPorte Historic District.

It has a hipped roof with dormers, a two-story sleeping porch, Palladian window, and stuccoed areas with curved corner pieces.: 2 It was listed on the National Register of Historic Places in 1984. It is located in the Indiana and Michigan Avenues Historic District.

Indiana and Michigan Avenues Historic District is a national historic district located at LaPorte, LaPorte County, Indiana. The district encompasses 223 contributing buildings and one contributing site in a predominantly residential section of LaPorte. It developed between about 1860 and 1963, and includes examples of Italianate, Queen Anne, Colonial Revival, Prairie School, and Bungalow / American Craftsman style architecture. Located in the district is the separately listed Francis H. Morrison House. Other notable buildings include the Hobart M. Cable, Jr., House (c. 1925), Rear Admiral R. R. Ingersoll Residence (1908), John Secor House (c. 1890), Swan-Anderson House (1870), Carnegie Library (1920), Emmett Scott House (1915), Frank Osborn House (c. 1895), Henry McGill House (c. 1863, 1881), First Presbyterian Church (1862), Winn House (c. 1875), First Church of Christ Scientist (c 1890, 1920), and St. Paul's Episcopal Church (1895-1898).It was listed in the National Register of Historic Places in 2014.

The La Porte Civic Auditorium is an event building located in La Porte, Indiana. Opened in 1930, it has 7,600 square feet of space. It hosts athletic contests, weddings, concerts and stage plays. The Marion Ridgeway Polygonal Barn located in LaPorte County on the southern edge of LaPorte, Indiana, is a multi-sided barn. Built in 1878 by Marion Ridgeway and called the Door Prairie Barn. The barn sits east of highway 35 surrounded by woods and cultivated fields. The nine-sided barn is south of a rectangular barn. The barn has nine sides and is two stories tall. The roof is capped with a sectional cone roof with a nine-sided cupola in the Gothic Revival/Italianate style. Within the louvered panels trim pieces resemble a lancet arch. The post and beam frame sits on wooden sill propped on stone.
