Picpus Cemetery (French: Cimetière de Picpus, [pik.pys]) is the largest private cemetery in Paris, France, located in the 12th arrondissement. It was created from land seized from the convent of the Chanoinesses de St-Augustin, during the French Revolution. Just minutes away from where the guillotine was set up, it contains 1,306 victims executed between 14 June and 27 July 1794, during the height and last phase of the Reign of Terror. Today only descendants of those 1,306 victims are eligible to be buried at Picpus Cemetery.Picpus Cemetery is one of only two private cemeteries in Paris, the other being the old Cimetière des Juifs Portugais de Paris (Portuguese Jewish Cemetery of Paris) in the 19th arrondissement. Picpus Cemetery is situated next to a small chapel, Notre-Dame-de-la-Paix ("Our Lady of Peace"), run by the Sisters of the Sacred Heart. The priests of the Congregation of the Sacred Hearts are referred to as "The Picpus Fathers" because of the order's origins on the street. It holds a small 15th-century sculpture of the Vierge de la Paix, reputed to have cured King Louis XIV of a serious illness on 16 August 1658.The placename is thought to derive from French pique-puce, "flea-bite", because the local monks used to cure skin diseases that caused wounds that resembled fleabites.The cemetery is of particular interest to American visitors as it also holds the tomb of the Marquis de Lafayette (1757–1834), over which an American flag is always present.

Initially built to serve the Jewish community of East Paris, it specializes in Geriatrics, Physical therapy and Rehabilitation as well as several different aspects of Dentistry, notably Periodontology and Dental implants.

The Fondation Louis-de-Broglie is a French foundation for research into physics. The foundation is located at the French Academy of Sciences in Paris.

The Maison Coignard was a prison hospital opened during the French Revolution to house wealthy prisoners from the various prisons opened as in the course of the Reign of Terror then underway.

Bel-Air (French pronunciation: ​[bɛl ɛːʁ]) is a station on line 6 of the Paris Métro in the 12th arrondissement. The station is located in the Boulevard de Picpus, between the districts of Picpus and Bel-Air. The station is in the open air at ground level, but the lines are underground to the north and to the south: the trains ascend to the surface before the station to descend when leaving it. This layout was required to clear the railway that connected the former station of Paris Bastille (near Bastille station) to the valley of the Marne, via the former station of Reuilly near Bel-Air. This line was diverted to become part of RER line A in 1969. The single entrance to the station leads to the back of trains from Nation, and to the front of trains from Charles de Gaulle - Étoile.

The Cours de Vincennes (formerly Avenue de Vincennes) is a street in Paris, linking place de la Nation to porte de Vincennes. It forms a major artery and serves as the border between the city's 12th and 20th arrondissements. It was built before 1860 and forms the start of Route nationale 34.

Ensemble Scolaire Saint Michel de Picpus is a Roman Catholic private school system in the Paris metropolitan area. It has a preschool/nursery (maternelle) and elementary school in the 12th arrondissement of Paris. It has two junior-senior high (collège-lycée) campuses: one in the 12th arrondissement of Paris and one in Saint-Mandé, Val-de-Marne.

The massacre of 14 July 1953 in Paris was an event in which the French police intentionally and without warning opened fire, causing 7 deaths (six Algerians and one French). and hospitalizing around 60 protesters and police officers. The incident occurred at the end of a parade organized by the French Communist Party (PCF) and the General Confederation of Labour (CGT) to celebrate the "values of the Republic" on the occasion of the French national holiday. It is part of the "massacres in Paris," including the massacre on 6 February 1934 (15 deaths), the massacre on 17 October 1961 (between 7 and over 200 deaths, according to different estimates), and the massacre at Charonne subway (9 deaths on 8 February 1962). Between 10,000 and 15,000 people marched in the streets on 14 July 1953, with half of them being part of a significant Algerian procession of 6,000 to 8,000 individuals led by the Movement for the Triumph of Democratic Liberties (MTLD). Up until that point, the parade had been peaceful, but tragedy struck when the last protesters reached Place de la Nation. Within a few minutes, dozens of shots were fired at the MTLD procession. In the aftermath of the massacre, for 14 years, the authorities banned demonstrations on May 1st and July 14th, until the 1 May 1968 parade. This event also marked the end of popular parades organized during the national holiday in the capital. This tragedy, amid the repression of Algerian nationalism and serious events in Morocco and Tunisia, occurred less than a year after the announcement of independence for these two countries and a little over a year before the start of the Algerian War on 1 November 1954. It wasn't until the early 2000s that the first books entirely devoted to this event appeared, and it was not until the commemoration of the 64th anniversary of the demonstration in 2017 that the Paris City Hall made the first official recognition of this massacre by placing a commemorative plaque on a building in Place de l'Île-de-la-Réunion.

The Place de la Nation (formerly Place du Trône, subsequently Place du Trône-Renversé during the Revolution) is a circle on the eastern side of Paris, between Place de la Bastille and the Bois de Vincennes, on the border of the 11th and 12th arrondissements. Widely known for having the most active guillotines during the French Revolution, the square was renamed Place de la Nation on Bastille Day, 14 July 1880, under the Third Republic. The square includes a large bronze sculpture by Aimé-Jules Dalou, the Triumph of the Republic depicting Marianne, and is encircled by shops and a flower garden. It is served by the Paris Metro station Nation.

Nation (French pronunciation: ​[nɑsjɔ̃]) is a station of the Paris Métro and Île-de-France's RER commuter rail service. It serves Line 1, Line 2, Line 6 and Line 9 of the Paris Métro and RER A. It takes its name from its location at the Place de la Nation.

The Hôpital Armand-Trousseau is a public Assistance Publique–Hôpitaux de Paris (AP-HP) located at 26, avenue du Docteur-Arnold-Netter and rue Lasson (entrance to the emergency room) in the 12th arrondissement of Paris. It is one of the sites of the Sorbonne University Hospital Group.The hospital specializes in pediatric care and, since January 2006, multiple disabilities after its merger with the La Roche-Guyon hospital located in Val-d'Oise.

Buzenval (French pronunciation: ​[byzɑ̃val]) is a station on line 9 of the Paris Métro, on the Rue de Buzenval in the 20th arrondissement. The station was opened on 10 December 1933 with the extension of the line from Richelieu - Drouot to Porte de Montreuil. The street is named after the commune of Buzenval, which is another name for Rueil-Malmaison. This is where the Battle of Buzenval of the Siege of Paris, part of the Franco-Prussian War took place on 19 January 1871. The "Tarzan" of "Buzenval" was the nickname of Laurent Dauthuille, a boxer of the 1950s.
