Odéon (Paris Métro)

The Café Procope, in rue de l'Ancienne Comédie, is a café in the 6th arrondissement of Paris. It was opened in 1686 by the Sicilian chef Procopio Cutò (also known by his Italian name Francesco Procopio dei Coltelli and his French name François Procope), and was a hub of the artistic and literary community in 18th and 19th century Paris. It sometimes is called the oldest café of Paris in continuous operation- however, the original café closed in 1872 and did not reopen as a café until the 1920s, so the claim of "oldest café in continuous operation" is not entirely true. Marie Antoinette and Napoleon frequented the restaurant.

The Maison d'Auguste Comte, also known as the Musée Auguste Comte, is a private writer's house museum and archive dedicated to positivist philosopher Auguste Comte (1798–1857). It is maintained by the Association internationale Auguste Comte, located in the 6th arrondissement at 10, rue Monsieur-le-Prince, Paris, France, and open Wednesday afternoons, with a guided tour at 3:30 p.m.; an admission fee is required. The closest Paris Métro station is Odéon. Comte lived on the 2nd floor of 10, rue Monsieur le Prince from 1841 to his death in 1857, where he wrote the four volumes of Système de politique positive (1851–1854), his last treatise of positivist philosophy. The apartment has subsequently been restored and reconstructed as it was at the philosopher's death. It consists of five main rooms (dining room, living room, study, classroom, bedroom) with vestibule, and contains Comte's writing desk, portraits of Clotilde de Vaux and various disciples, personal effects, and handwritten letters, as well as a library of positivist writings that contains about 600 books in French, including first editions of his works, 250 books in other languages, a thousand brochures, and four collections of periodicals.

The rue de l'Odéon is a street in the Odéon quarter of the 6th arrondissement of Paris on the Left Bank. Because of the presence of two bohemian bookstores, run respectively by Adrienne Monnier and Sylvia Beach, and the coterie of emergent Anglophone writers surrounding them, James Joyce nicknamed it "Stratford-on-Odéon". Monnier and Beach thought of it as Odéonia.

The Salle de la rue des Fossés-Saint-Germain-des-Prés was the theatre of the Comédie-Française from 1689 to 1770. It was built to the designs of the French architect François d'Orbay on the site of a former indoor tennis court (jeu de paume), located at 14 rue des Fossés-Saint-Germain-des-Prés, now 14 rue de l'Ancienne Comédie, across from the Café Procope in the 6th arrondissement of Paris.

Paris Descartes University (French: Université Paris 5 René Descartes), also known as Paris V, was a French public university located in Paris. It was one of the inheritors of the historic University of Paris, which was split into 13 universities in 1970. Paris Descartes completely merged with Paris Diderot University in 2019 to form a new Paris Cité University. It was established as a multidisciplinary university "of humanities and health sciences" ("des Sciences de l’Homme et de la Santé". It focuses in the areas of medical sciences, biomedical sciences, law, computer science, economics and psychology.Its main campus was in the historic École de Chirurgie in the 6th arrondissement of Paris.

The École de Chirurgie ("School of Surgery") is a historic building located at 10–12 rue de l'École de Médecine in the 6th arrondissement of Paris. Today it is the headquarters of the Paris Descartes University.

Galerie Kamel Mennour is a Parisian contemporary art gallery owned and directed by Kamel Mennour.

Sorbonne University (French: Sorbonne Université) is a research university located in Paris, France. The institution's legacy reaches back to 1257 when Sorbonne College was established by Robert de Sorbon as part of the medieval University of Paris. The latter was then divided into 13 universities in 1970 (of which Paris-Saclay University being ranked first in France and 13th in the world), and all holding the same legacy of the dissolved University of Paris. Sorbonne University is now one of the most prestigious universities in Europe and the world; as of 2021, its alumni and professors have won 33 Nobel Prizes, six Fields Medals, and one Turing Award.

Café Voltaire, named after the writer and philosopher Voltaire, was a former café and restaurant located on Place de l'Odeon in the 6th arrondissement of Paris, France. The café was open from the early 19th century until the middle of the 20th century. It served as a gathering place for artists and students. The site is currently the headquarters of the literature department of the publishing house Groupe Flammarion (Flammarion Editions).

The Lycée Fénelon is an academic institution located in the 6th arrondissement of Paris, in the Latin Quarter. It receives its name from François Fénelon, a French theologian and writer (1651-1715) who promoted women's education in his writings, notably in his "Traité de l'éducation des filles".The school was founded in 1892, in a building dating from the 17th century. It was initially created as the first high school for girls in Paris, to prepare female students to the École normale supérieure de jeunes filles. It later became coed in 1973 for CPGE classes, and in 1979 for high schoolers. Like other lycées in France, Fénelon functions as an ordinary high school for years 10–12, but also as an institute to teach the “post-bac” (≈undergraduate) academic programs known as Classe préparatoire aux grandes écoles (a.k.a. CPGE, or prépas). Fénelon is in fact regarded as one of France's most prestigious and most competitive institutions in this domain. In particular, its Humanities (khâgne) students rank just behind Lycées Henri IV and Louis-Le-Grand in their rates of success in the annual entrance competition to ENS (“Concours”).

The Bibliothèque interuniversitaire de Santé (BIU Santé) is a French medical library created in 2011. It offers collections in medicine, dentistry, pharmacy and related sciences. The BIU Santé resulted from the merging of two other institutions in 2011: the Bibliothèque interuniversitaire de médecine et d'odontologie (BIUM) and the Bibliothèque interuniversitaire de pharmacie (BIUP), even though the two sites remain distinct.
