Arts et Métiers (Paris Métro)

The Musée des Arts et Métiers (French pronunciation: ​[myze dez‿aʁz‿e metje]) (French for Museum of Arts and Crafts) is an industrial design museum in Paris that houses the collection of the Conservatoire national des arts et métiers, which was founded in 1794 as a repository for the preservation of scientific instruments and inventions.

The Priory of Saint-Martin-des-Champs was an influential monastery established in what is now the city of Paris, France. Its surviving buildings are considered treasures of Medieval architecture in the city.

The Théâtre du Marais has been the name of several theatres and theatrical troupes in Paris, France. The original and most famous theatre of the name operated in the 17th century. The name was briefly revived for a revolutionary theatre in 1791, and revived again in 1976. The present-day Théâtre du Marais operates at 37, rue Volta in the 3rd arrondissement of Paris.

The Conservatoire national des arts et métiers (French: [kɔ̃sɛʁvatwaʁ nɑsjɔnal dez‿aʁ e metje]; abbr. CNAM | English: French National Conservatory of Arts and Crafts) is a French public higher education institution, national research centre and grand établissement as well as grande école of engineering, thus part of the French elite universities league. Headquartered in Paris, it has campuses in every major French cities, in overseas France and in every francophone African countries, China, Haiti, Germany, and Switzerland. Founded in 1794 by the French bishop Henri Grégoire, CNAM's core mission is dedicated to provide education and conduct research for the promotion of science and industry. With 70,000 students and a budget of €174 million, it is the second largest university by enrolment in Europe for distance learning and continued education, after the University of Hagen. CNAM provides certificates, diplomas, Bachelor's degrees, Master's degrees and PhD's in Science, Engineering, Law, Management (AMBA-accredited), Finance, Accountancy, Urban Planning and Humanities, all designed to abide by the European Bologna process, and thus complying with the European Credit Transfer System. It is the only higher education institution in Europe to provide Physics, Chemistry and Life-Science engineer's degrees up to a PhD-level via distance learning and via its so-called "hybrid learning" which includes intermittent laboratories classes on-site. The CNAM hosts also a museum dedicated to scientific and industrial inventions: Musée des Arts et Métiers (English: the Industrial Design Museum) which welcomed 250,000 visitors in 2018, and is located on the Parisian campus of the French National Conservatory of Arts and Crafts at 292 rue Saint Martin, in the 3rd arrondissement of Paris, in the historical area of the city named Le Marais.

The Church of Saint-Nicolas-des-Champs (Église Saint-Nicolas-des-Champs) is a Catholic church in Paris' Third arrondissement. Early parts of the church, includingnthe west front, built 1420–1480, are in the Flamboyant Gothic style, while later portions, including the south portal, mostly built 1576–86, are examples of French Renaissance architecture. It is notable particularly for its Renaissance carved sculpture, decoration and large collection of French Renaissance paintings in the interior.

The lycée polyvalent de Turgot is a lycée located in the 3rd arrondissement of Paris. Its entrance is located at 69 rue de Turbigo. It runs classe préparatoire aux grandes écoles in the D1, D2, PC and ECT streams. The lycée was built on the former site of the Madelonnettes Convent, which was demolished by the construction of the rue de Turbigo, between 1865 and 1866. It is served by the métro stations Arts et Métiers and Temple.

Chez l'Ami Louis (French pronunciation: ​[ʃe lami lwi], Our friend Louis's) is a restaurant at 32, rue du Vertbois, in the 3rd arrondissement of Paris, France, founded in 1924. The restaurant, which has been called "the world's most famous bistro" and "the worst restaurant in the world", has only fourteen tables and serves meals in a traditional French setting. It was founded by the chef Antoine Magnin, who died in 1987. Gault Millau said of him that he had "an eagle eye for choosing produce" and that the meat and poultry he served was the best in Paris. The current host is Louis Gadby.L'Ami Louis specializes in traditional French cuisine, including lamb and foie gras. Notable clients have included Francis Ford Coppola and Alice Waters, who has named it as her favourite restaurant. L'Ami Louis has been visited by Bill Clinton and Jacques Chirac, was the venue for the 60th birthday party of writer Anthony Dias Blue, as well as the 70th birthday party of R. W. Apple, Jr. On 12 November 2021, U.S. Vice President Kamala Harris dined there with Second Gentleman Douglas Emhoff.

The rue de Montmorency is a street in the historic Le Marais quarter of Paris, part of the city's 3rd arrondissement. It runs from the rue du Temple to the rue Saint-Martin.

The Madelonnettes Convent (couvent des Madelonnettes) was a Paris convent in the 3rd arrondissement of Paris. It was located in what is now a rectangle between 6 rue des Fontaines du Temple (where there are the remains of one of its walls), rue Volta and rue du Vertbois, and part of its site is now occupied by the Lycée Turgot. As the Madelonnettes Prison (prison des Madelonnettes) during the French Revolution, its prisoners included the writers the Marquis de Sade and Nicolas Chamfort, the politician Jean-Baptiste de Machault d'Arnouville and the actor Dazincourt.

In 1862 during Haussmann's modernization of Paris, the Théâtre de la Gaîté of the boulevard du Temple was relocated to the rue Papin across from the Square des Arts et Métiers. The new theatre, built in an Italian style to designs of the architects Jacques-Ignace Hittorff and Alphonse Cusin, opened on 3 September.Within a decade, the focus began to shift from melodrama to operetta and opera, so the theatre also came to be known as the Gaîté-Lyrique. In the early 1920s, Diaghilev's Ballets Russes danced here, and after World War II it was used for musical comedy. In the 1970s, attendance decreased, and there were several attempts to find new uses for the building, culminating in 1989 in the construction of a short-lived amusement park, that resulted in the demolition of most of the theatre, except for the facade, entrance and foyer. The latter were restored during a 2004 reconstruction that converted the building into an arts centre, La Gaîté Lyrique, completed in November 2010.

La Gaîté Lyrique (French: [la ɡɛte liʁik]) is a digital arts and modern music centre opened by the City of Paris in December 2010, located at 3-5 rue Papin in the 3rd arrondissement.The centre is on the site of the former Théâtre de la Gaîté, incorporating the facade, entrance and foyer of the original theatre. The auditorium of the theatre was demolished in 1989 for an amusement park. The refurbishment lasted from 2004 to 2011 under the architect Manuelle Gautrand. The General/Artistic Director was Jérôme Delormas. The venue is directed by Marc Dondey since 2016.

The name Théâtre de la Renaissance has been used successively for three distinct Parisian theatre companies. The first two companies, which were short-lived enterprises in the 19th century, used the Salle Ventadour, now an office building on the Rue Méhul in the 2nd arrondissement. The current company was founded in 1873, and its much smaller theatre (pictured) was built that same year next to the Porte Saint-Martin at 20 boulevard Saint-Martin, in the 10th arrondissement. Besides performances of musical theatre, Feydeau's farces were first produced in this theatre, and plays by Victorien Sardou. Among the actors who triumphed there were Sarah Bernhardt, Eleonora Duse, and Raimu, later Agnès Jaoui and Jean-Pierre Bacri.
