The 1927 PGA Championship was the 10th PGA Championship, held from October 31 to November 5 in Texas at Cedar Crest Country Club in Dallas. Then a match play championship, Walter Hagen defeated Joe Turnesa 1 up in the finals to win his fourth consecutive PGA Championship, his fifth and final overall, and the ninth of his eleven major titles. The victory ran Hagen's match record at the PGA Championship in the 1920s to 30–1 (.968), falling only to Gene Sarazen in 38 holes in the 1923 finals. With his fourth consecutive title, his winning streak stood at twenty matches. Hagen, age 34, was also the medalist in the 36-hole qualifier on Monday at 141 (−1).The course, south of downtown Dallas, was designed by A. W. Tillinghast and opened in 1919. It hosted the Dallas Open less than two years earlier in January 1926, won by Macdonald Smith. The country club closed in 1929 and the course was purchased by the City of Dallas in 1946 and it continues as a public facility. At the time, this was the furthest west and south that a major championship had been held. The western limit had been Illinois for multiple majors, and the southernmost venues had been Indiana for the PGA Championship in 1924 and Maryland for the U.S. Open in 1921. Two years later in 1929, the PGA Championship was played in Los Angeles, California.

The Dallas Open Tournament was a professional golf event in Texas played only in 1926. It was held in late January at Cedar Crest Country Club, south of central Dallas, and was won by Macdonald Smith at 298, three strokes ahead of runner-up Al Espinosa. The winner's share of the purse was $800.

Cedar Crest Golf Course, formerly Cedar Crest Country Club, is a public golf course in the southern United States, located in Dallas, Texas. Cedar Crest also hosted the Dallas Open in 1926, won by Macdonald Smith in late January.Established in 1916 and opened 103 years ago in 1919, the course is where a young Harry Cooper (1904–2000) honed his skills. The country club was closed in 1929, changed ownership, and then was purchased by the city in 1946. It hosted the United Golf Association Negro National Open in 1954, and the USGA's Public Links later that year. A new $2 million clubhouse was built in 2001. In 2004,the course was renovated in by D. A. Weibring and Steve Wolfard. From the back tees, it plays as a par-70 at 6,532 yards (5,973 m), with a course rating of 73.2 and a slope rating of 131.

South Oak Cliff High School (colloquially referred to as SOC, pronounced "sock") is a public secondary school located in the Oak Cliff area of Dallas, Texas, United States. South Oak Cliff High School enrolls students in grades 9-12 and is a part of the Dallas Independent School District (DISD). The school serves the area of Dallas known as "South Oak Cliff" (generally east of Interstate 35E and south of Illinois Avenue, though the area was never technically part of Oak Cliff). The school also previously had some students who lived in the former Wilmer-Hutchins ISD boundaries. DISD began to take in WHISD-zoned students during the 2005–2006 school year, and at that time the entire Wilmer-Hutchins High School senior class attended South Oak Cliff. In 2015, the school was rated "Improvement Required" by the Texas Education Agency.

Illinois station or Illinois Avenue station is a DART Light Rail station in Dallas, Texas. It is located in the Oak Cliff neighborhood on Denley Drive, north of Illinois Avenue. It opened on June 14, 1996, and is a station on the DART Blue Line, serving nearby residences and businesses, featuring bus service to Mountain View College, Fair Park, the Dallas VA Medical Center, and Paul Quinn College. This was the initial southern terminus for the Blue Line until it was extended to Ledbetter in May 1997.Outbound, this is the last stop for Blue Line trains on grade-separated tracks. South of this station, the tracks swing onto a viaduct and the line then runs in the middle of Lancaster Road for the rest of the journey to Ledbetter.

Ledbetter station is a DART Light Rail station in Dallas, Texas. It is near the Intersection of Lancaster Road (SH 342) and Ledbetter Drive in the Oak Cliff neighborhood. It serves Paul Quinn College. It opened on May 31, 1997, and served as the southern terminus for the Blue Line until an extension to UNT Dallas station opened October 24, 2016.

Fruitdale, sometimes called Fruitdale Acres, is an area in Dallas, Texas, United States that used to be its own incorporated city. On April 17, 1937 Fruitdale incorporated so it would not be annexed by Dallas. In October 1964 residents voted to disincorporate and Dallas annexed Fruitdale in November of that year.

Beckley Club Estates is a neighborhood in the Oak Cliff area of Dallas, Texas. The area is composed of bungalow style houses built in the 1920s and 1950s along winding, hilly streets in North Oak Cliff.[1] The area's boundaries consist of North Shore to the north, Beckley to the west, Arizona Ave. to the East and Iowa Ave. to the south. The area is one of the quickest appreciating areas in the 75216 ZIP code, which is one of the poorest in Dallas.

Morrell station or Morrell Avenue station is a DART Light Rail station located in Dallas, Texas. It is located at Morrell and Woodbine Avenues in the Oak Cliff neighborhood. It opened on June 14, 1996, and serves the Blue Line, serving nearby residences, businesses, and the nearby Dallas Zoo. This is the first station outbound after the Blue Line diverges from the Red Line.
