1927 PGA Championship

The Dallas Open Tournament was a professional golf event in Texas played only in 1926. It was held in late January at Cedar Crest Country Club, south of central Dallas, and was won by Macdonald Smith at 298, three strokes ahead of runner-up Al Espinosa. The winner's share of the purse was $800.

Cedar Crest Golf Course, formerly Cedar Crest Country Club, is a public golf course in the southern United States, located in Dallas, Texas. South of downtown in the Cedar Crest neighborhood, the course was designed by A. W. Tillinghast and was the site of the tenth PGA Championship in 1927, won by Walter Hagen in early November. It was his fourth consecutive PGA title and fifth overall, the ninth of his eleven major championships. Cedar Crest also hosted the Dallas Open in 1926, won by Macdonald Smith in late January.Established in 1916 and opened 103 years ago in 1919, the course is where a young Harry Cooper (1904–2000) honed his skills. The country club was closed in 1929, changed ownership, and then was purchased by the city in 1946. It hosted the United Golf Association Negro National Open in 1954, and the USGA's Public Links later that year. A new $2 million clubhouse was built in 2001. In 2004,the course was renovated in by D. A. Weibring and Steve Wolfard. From the back tees, it plays as a par-70 at 6,532 yards (5,973 m), with a course rating of 73.2 and a slope rating of 131.

Illinois station or Illinois Avenue station is a DART Light Rail station in Dallas, Texas. It is located in the Oak Cliff neighborhood on Denley Drive, north of Illinois Avenue. It opened on June 14, 1996, and is a station on the DART Blue Line, serving nearby residences and businesses, featuring bus service to Mountain View College, Fair Park, the Dallas VA Medical Center, and Paul Quinn College. This was the initial southern terminus for the Blue Line until it was extended to Ledbetter in May 1997.Outbound, this is the last stop for Blue Line trains on grade-separated tracks. South of this station, the tracks swing onto a viaduct and the line then runs in the middle of Lancaster Road for the rest of the journey to Ledbetter.

Kiest station is a DART Light Rail station in Dallas, Texas. It serves the Oak Cliff neighborhood on Kiest Boulevard and Lancaster Road (SH 342). It opened on May 31, 1997, and is a station on the Blue Line, serving nearby residences and businesses.

Morrell station or Morrell Avenue station is a DART Light Rail station located in Dallas, Texas. It is located at Morrell and Woodbine Avenues in the Oak Cliff neighborhood. It opened on June 14, 1996, and serves the Blue Line, serving nearby residences, businesses, and the nearby Dallas Zoo. This is the first station outbound after the Blue Line diverges from the Red Line.

Franklin D. Roosevelt High School is a public secondary school in the Oak Cliff area of Dallas, Texas (USA), serving grades 9 - 12. The school opened in 1963 and is part of the Dallas Independent School District. The school serves several South Dallas communities, including Cadillac Heights and some Oak Cliff neighborhoods.

Cadillac Heights is a neighborhood in East Oak Cliff, Dallas, Texas. The neighborhood is mostly African American and Hispanic.As of 2010 there are plans to demolish all of Cadillac Heights. There are plans to establish the new Dallas Police Department police academy in the community.

Beckley Club Estates is a neighborhood in the Oak Cliff area of Dallas, Texas. The area is composed of bungalow style houses built in the 1920s and 1950s along winding, hilly streets in North Oak Cliff.[1] The area's boundaries consist of North Shore to the north, Beckley to the west, Arizona Ave. to the East and Iowa Ave. to the south. The area is one of the quickest appreciating areas in the 75216 ZIP code, which is one of the poorest in Dallas.

8th & Corinth station is a DART Light Rail station in Dallas, Texas. It is located at the corner of 8th and Corinth Streets in the Oak Cliff neighborhood. It opened on June 14, 1996, and is a station on the Red and Blue Lines, serving Yvonne A. Ewell Townview Center, the West Dallas Industrial Center and surrounding residential and commercial areas. It is the southernmost station on the DART system serving both the Red and Blue lines, from this point the lines diverge with the Blue line heading south and the Red Line heading southwest. The station provides free parking for passengers, as well as passenger shelters.

Dallas Zoo aka Dallas Zoological Park is a 106-acre (43 ha) zoo located 3 miles (5 km) south of downtown Dallas, Texas, in Marsalis Park. Established in 1888, it is the oldest and largest zoological park in Texas and is managed by the non-profit Dallas Zoological Society. It is home to over 2,000 animals representing 406 species. It is an accredited member of the Association of Zoos and Aquariums (AZA), and is a member of the World Association of Zoos and Aquariums (WAZA). Since 2009, when the Dallas City Council voted unanimously to turn the zoo over to private management under the DZS, attendance and community support for the zoo has surged. In 2015, the zoo achieved an all-time annual attendance record of 1 million+ visitors. The Dallas Zoological Society is supported by over 25,510 membership households and growing. The DZS manages all fundraising, membership, special events, food services, retail operation, volunteer programs, marketing, and public relations for the zoo under management contract with the City of Dallas

The Tenth Street Freedman's Town is a historic African American community in the Oak Cliff section of Dallas, Texas. A freedmen's town is a community settled by former slaves who were emancipated during and after the American Civil War. The freedmen's town that became known as Tenth Street began near the confluence of Cedar Creek and Cedar Creek Branch, at the foot of an African American burial ground dating back to 1846. The name "Tenth Street" became associated with the community in 1887, when John Scarborough Armstrong and Thomas Lafayette Marsalis platted the town of Oak Cliff.
