Llanrhystyd Road railway station was located on the Carmarthen to Aberystwyth Line, originally called the Manchester and Milford Railway, before being transferred to the GWR.

Chancery (Welsh: Rhydgaled) is a hamlet in Llanfarian community, in the district county of Ceredigion, Mid-Wales, south of the administrative centre Aberystwyth. The hamlet is on the A487 road, about 0.9 miles (1.4 km) south-west of Llanfarian village. A school at Chancery is referred to in a World War II children's evacuation account.

Tan-y-Bwlch (Welsh for 'Under the pass / gap') beach near Aberystwyth, Wales, forms part of the Pen Dinas and Tan-y-Bwlch Local Nature Reserve (LNR). The majority of which is located in the village of Penparcau. The area was designated in 1999 following a public meeting which attracted more than 100 local people. The 100-acre (0.40 km2) site contains the Bronze Age burial mound and Iron Age Hillfort named Pen Dinas. The site is managed by Ceredigion County Council and is publicly owned, it is the largest Local nature reserve in the Dyfi Biosphere. The Wales Coastal Path runs along the top of the shingle beach. The beach is sometimes referred to as Penparcau Beach by locals in the area, the name is used on some mapping services.

Pont Paith is a hamlet in the community of Llanfarian, Ceredigion, Wales, 73 miles (117.5 km) from Cardiff and 177.9 miles (286.2 km) from London. Pont Paith is represented in the Senedd by Elin Jones (Plaid Cymru) and is part of the Ceredigion constituency in the House of Commons.

Penparcau (Welsh pronunciation: [pɛnˈparkai̯]) is a village and electoral ward in Ceredigion, Wales, situated to the south of Aberystwyth. The original village was a hamlet, but the building of extensive Art Deco style semi-detached social housing from the 1920s on transformed it. It lies in the shadow of the Celtic Iron Age hill fort of Pen Dinas, and between the sea at Tan Y Bwlch beach, the River Ystwyth and the Rheidol. Penparcau has the only UNESCO Biosphere reserve in the Dyfi Biosphere. A section of the Wales Coast Path runs over Tan y Bwlch beach. There is an Anglican church named after the Saint Anne, a Roman Catholic church named after the Welsh Martyrs, which is noted in "Architecture of Wales, Carmarthenshire and Ceredigion" and is home to a Lampedusa Cross, as well as two Methodist chapels and a Quaker meeting house. The recently closed Tollgate pub was named after the original tollgate that stood on the old toll road at the top of Penparcau and is now in St Fagans National History Museum near Cardiff. Penparcau has its own woodland, Coed Geufron run by the Woodland Trust and its own police station. Other amenities have included a post office, two supermarkets, a garage, holiday park and hotel and two fish and chip shops. Until late 2007, it also had its own travel agent. In 2008, Penparcau played a part in the transition town movement in Wales when it hosted the "Alternative Energy and Transport Festival" in Neuadd Goffa, attended by the local MP and mayor. At the bottom of the valley, just below Penparcau, is a Welsh Government office building, designed to house more than 550 staff.

Penparcau Football Club are a Welsh football club from Penparcau, Ceredigion. They currently play in the Central Wales Southern Division, the fourth tier of the Welsh football league. The club was reformed in the summer of 2017 and played in the Aberystwyth League Division One. The club's home colours are black and white striped shirt with black shorts and socksFor the 2021–22 season the club played in the tier 3 Ardal North East and finished in 9th position. After the end of the season the club announced they would be withdrawing from the league and for the 2022–23 season would play in the tier 4 Mid Wales Football League South Division. They cited the cost of match officials, as well as the travel expenses for players for away matches, as well as the requirement of a reserve team as their reasons for their departure.

Pen Dinas (Welsh pronunciation: [pɛn ˈdiːnas]) is a large hill in Penparcau, on the coast of Ceredigion, Wales, (just south of Aberystwyth) upon which an extensive Iron Age, Celtic hillfort is situated. The site can easily be reached on foot from Aberystwyth town centre and is accessible via a series of well marked trails. Boasting a commanding position at the confluence of the River Ystwyth and Afon Rheidol, it has been described as "the pre-eminent hillfort on the Cardigan Bay coast".The name is more correctly 'Dinas Maelor', this could be translated into English as 'Maelor's Fort' or 'Maelor's City'. Tradition refers to it as being the fort of the giant Maelor Gawr. Pen Dinas strictly speaking only refers to the highest point, 'Pen y Dinas' or 'Head of the Citadel', (upon which the Wellington Monument now stands). The southern summit is also where, in the Bronze Age, a burial mound was erected. There is a large stone monument dedicated to the Duke of Wellington which was built in the 1850's upon Pen Dinas overlooking Cardigan Bay and the town of Aberystwyth. The monument takes the form of an eighteen metre high upended cannon. Llanbadarn railway station is a railway station serving the ancient villages of Llanbadarn Fawr and Pwllhobi near Aberystwyth in Ceredigion in Mid-Wales. It is a request stop on the preserved Vale of Rheidol Railway. Alighting passengers are required to step down onto the grass as there is no platform. Tickets can be purchased from the guard. The station is at the end of a section of line from Aberystwyth that is right next to the Cambrian Line. It is also by a level crossing of the A4120. All trains towards Devil's Bridge pause briefly here to activate the level crossing before proceeding. Approximately 400 yards beyond the station in the direction of Devil's Bridge is a wooden trestle bridge, the only bridge over the river Rheidol on the line. Llanbadarn station saw record numbers of passengers in 1957 when the Royal Welsh Agricultural Show was held at the nearby Blaendolau Fields. The railway ran a special top-and-tailed shuttle service between Aberystwyth and Llanbadarn.

Blaenplwyf (Pontllanio previously) is a village in Ceredigion, to the southwest of Aberystwyth. It is noted for the Blaenplwyf transmitting station, which serves Aberystwyth and Cardigan Bay area. It was originally built by the BBC in 1956–7, serving as a main transmitter for BBC Band II VHF FM radio. Blaenplwyf contains a small stone and brick former Mission Church, dated to 1878, which is now a church. The Calvinistic Methodist Chapel, a yellow and brown Victorian church built by David Williams of Aberystwyth, also dates to 1878.In 2002, residents of the village joined forces to prevent the local shop and post office being shut down by applying for a grant from the EU and buying it.

Llanbadarn Fawr (Welsh pronunciation: [ɬanˌbadarn ˈvau̯r]) is a village and community in Ceredigion, Wales. It is on the outskirts of Aberystwyth next to Penparcau and Southgate. It forms the eastern part of the continually built-up area of Aberystwyth. It holds two electoral wards, Padarn and Sulien which elect a Ceredigion County Councillor each and several Llanbadarn Fawr Community Councillors. At the 2001 census its population as a community was recorded at 2,899, increasing to 3,380 at the 2011 census.

Ysgol Gymraeg Aberystwyth is a Welsh language primary school in the university town of Aberystwyth in Ceredigion, Wales. It was established as a private school in 1939 by Sir Ifan ab Owen Edwards and was originally named Ysgol Gymraeg yr Urdd. The school was the first Welsh-medium school in Wales, the first headteacher being prominent dramatist Norah Isaac.The school originally had seven pupils, but has grown significantly since then and now educates over 400 children. The school expanded rapidly during the 1980s and 1990s as parents began to see the academic value in bilingual education. Although 95% of the students speak Welsh to a first language level, only 65% come from homes where Welsh is the main language spoken. Today, the school has 18 teachers, over 20 assistants and 15 auxiliary staff. A 2016 school inspection report by Estyn found it to be excellent in all categories, and stated "The quality of teaching and learning experiences is very high, and support to ensure pupils’ wellbeing is an exceptional feature."The prominent Welsh children's author Mary Vaughan Jones was a teacher at the school between 1953 and 1958. Aled Haydn Jones, a BBC radio producer on The Chris Moyles Show, was a pupil. The current deputy headteacher, Gareth James, is a former author.

Ysgol Gyfun Gymunedol Penweddig (Penweddig Community Comprehensive School in English) is a Welsh-language, community comprehensive school situated in Llanbadarn Fawr, Aberystwyth, Wales. The school was established in 1973. The school was the first Welsh language secondary school in Ceredigion and is named after the cantref of Penweddig, the northern part of the Kingdom of Ceredigion, between the rivers Dyfi and Ystwyth. The school had 621 pupils on roll in 2022. During the last Estyn school inspection, it was reported that Welsh is spoken at home by 69% of pupils, with all pupils being able to speak Welsh fluently.The school's building is owned by a private company who lease it to the school. When the school was started in the mid-70s the school was housed in Ffordd Dewi, Aberystwyth. In October 2001, following a lengthy consultation with parents, staff and pupils, the school moved to its current home in Llanbadarn Road. The current headteacher is Ms Rhian Morgan. The former headteacher, Mr Gwenallt Llwyd Ifan, retired in 2018.
