Norwell Woodhouse

Royal Air Force Ossington or more simply RAF Ossington is a former Royal Air Force station located near the village of Ossington, Nottinghamshire, England.

Caunton is a village and civil parish in the Newark and Sherwood district of Nottinghamshire on the A616, six miles (9.7 km) north-west of Newark-on-Trent, in the NG23 postcode. The population (including Maplebeck and Winkburn) of the civil parish at the 2011 Census was 483.The village is notable for its association with Samuel Hole, who is buried in the churchyard of St. Andrew's Church. He was the village's vicar for a short while before becoming Dean of Rochester and lived in the manor. The manor house now has its own equestrian centre and a mini golf course. The village pubs are The Plough and the country pub, Caunton Beck, both on Main Street. Caunton Mill, also known as Sharp's Mill, was a 43 ft brick tower windmill, with an ogee cap, built before 1825. It was out of use in the 1930s. The mill survives without its cap, machinery and gallery.Caunton was used as a filming location for the majority of the second-series episodes of the popular British comedy drama Auf Wiedersehen, Pet, about a group of seven British migrant construction workers, with Beesthorpe Hall being used as Thornely Manor which was being renovated as part of the storyline.The hamlet of Knapthorpe is to the south of the village and A616 road, and within the parish boundary.HMS Caunton, named after the village, was a Ton-class minesweeper in service from 18 December 1952 to 1970.

Ossington is a village in the county of Nottinghamshire, England 7 miles north of Newark-on-Trent. It is in the civil parish of Ossington, but for census purposes its population count is included with the civil parishes of Ompton and Laxton and Moorhouse. It was centred on Ossington Hall, the ancestral home of the Denison family, but the house was demolished in 1964 and all that remains are a few outbuildings and a private chapel that now serves the parish as Holy Rood Church, Ossington. This is a Grade I listed building, originally 12th century and rebuilt in 1782–1783 by the architect John Carr, with minor 19th-century alterations and additions. It includes earlier monuments and stained glass. There is a barrel organ built by Thomas Robson in 1840.

It is close to the border with Lincolnshire and the River Trent, and lies approximately 1.5 miles (2.4 km) from the A1 road and 1 mile (1.6 km) from the East Coast Main Line.

Laxton is a small village in the civil parish of Laxton and Moorhouse in the English county of Nottinghamshire, situated about 25 miles northeast of Nottingham city centre. In 1981 Laxton was sold to the Crown Estate, which is committed to maintaining the open field system. The population of the civil parish (including Ompton and Ossington) at the 2011 Census was 489.Laxton is best known for having the last remaining working open field system in the United Kingdom. Its name is recorded first in the Domesday Book of 1086 as Laxintone, and may come from Anglo-Saxon Leaxingatūn, meaning the 'farmstead or estate of the people of a man called Leaxa'. It is possibly the namesake of the town of Lexington, Massachusetts, and thus ultimately of all the other towns named Lexington in the United States.
