Sainte-Foy-lès-Lyon (French pronunciation: [sɛ̃t fwa lɛ ljɔ̃] (listen), literally Sainte-Foy near Lyon) is a commune in the Metropolis of Lyon in Auvergne-Rhône-Alpes region in eastern France.

La Mulatière (French pronunciation: ​[la mylatjɛʁ]) is a commune in the Metropolis of Lyon in Auvergne-Rhône-Alpes region in eastern France. The city is known, among other things, for its Aquarium du Grand Lyon.

The Aquarium de Lyon is a public aquarium located in the La Mulatière district of the city of Lyon, France, near the confluence of the Rhône and Saône rivers in the Rhône department. Like the Aqualand parks elsewhere in Europe, it belongs to the Spanish group Aspro-Ocio.Created by Maurice Chichportiche and opened in October 2002, the aquarium has 39 tanks with a total of more than 1,000,000 litres (220,000 imp gal; 260,000 US gal) of water, showing visitors 3,000 fish and other aquatic animals representing 300 species.The largest aquarium is called "Fosse Aux Requins". It contains a false shipwreck in polyurethane resin (the iron would have rusted and the rust is toxic to fishes). Its glass is 23 centimetres thick to resist the water pressure.

The Saône ( SOHN, French: [son]; Arpitan: Sona; Latin: Arar) is a river in eastern France. It is a right tributary of the Rhône, rising at Vioménil in the Vosges department and joining the Rhône in Lyon, at the southern end of the Presqu'île. The name Saône derives from that of the Gallic river goddess Souconna, which has also been connected with a local Celtic tribe, the Sequanes. Monastic copyists progressively transformed Souconna to Saoconna, which ultimately gave rise to Saône. The other recorded ancient names for the river were Brigoulus and Arar.

The Musée des Confluences is a science centre and anthropology museum which opened on 20 December 2014 in the 2nd arrondissement of Lyon, (Rhône), France. It is located at the southern tip of the Presqu'île at the confluence of the Rhône and the Saône, adjacent to Autoroute A7, and comprises part of a larger redevelopment project of the Confluence quarter of Lyon. The deconstructivist architectural design, said to resemble a floating crystal cloud of stainless steel and glass, was created by the Austrian firm Coop Himmelb(l)au.

The Orange Cube is a design showroom and office building in the La Confluence quarter of the 2nd arrondissement of Lyon, France. Designed by the Paris-based architectural firm Jakob + MacFarlane, the building is best known for its orange color and hole-riddled cube shape, lending it the nickname "La Mimolette" after the similarly colored cheese. The Orange Cube was completed in 2011 at a cost of approximately €12 million, with a 6,284 m2 (67,640 sq ft) interior. It occupies a 29 m × 33 m (95 ft × 108 ft) footprint. The building is the realization of Jakob + Macfarlane's winning design in a 2005 competition intended to create interest in the industrial Confluence area, one requirement of which was the inclusion of negative space; the building's two conical voids, as well as drawing in cool air, create, according to Architectural Record's Jenna M. McKnight, "an extraordinary dialogue with the river, almost bringing it inside." Others, including Telerama's Luc Le Chatelier and Valérie Disdier of the "Maison de l'architecture Rhône-Alpes" were more critical of the design. The Orange Cube's two facades are covered by twenty-five perforated, thermo-lacquered aluminum screens, all made locally.

Oullins (French pronunciation: ​[ulɛ̃]) is a commune in the Metropolis of Lyon in Auvergne-Rhône-Alpes region in eastern France. It is a suburb of the city of Lyon, and is adjacent to it on the southwest.

Oullins-Pierre-Bénite (French pronunciation: [ulɛ̃ pjɛʁ benit]) is a commune in the Metropolis of Lyon in Auvergne-Rhône-Alpes region in eastern France. It was established on 1 January 2024, with the merger of the communes of Oullins and Pierre-Bénite. It is a suburb of the city of Lyon, and is adjacent to it on the southwest.

The Cité Scolaire Internationale de Lyon (CSI), also known as the Lycée International de Lyon or Lycée de Gerland, is an international school located near the confluence of the Rhône and the Saône in the city of Lyon, France. It provides education combining regular French classes with classes in the second language of the student. The international sections include English, Italian, Spanish, Polish, German, Portuguese, Chinese, Arabic and Japanese. The classes are taught from primary level all the way up to the high school diploma, the Baccalaureat, which is available with the International Option (OIB, or "Option Internationale du Baccalauréat"). There are 1900 students in the school, from primary to high school; over 40 nationalities are represented. As in all French lycées, students in the last two years ("première" and "terminale") can choose between an "L" section (literary), an "ES" section (economy and society) and an "S" section (scientific). International students are also able to prepare for the OIB, and take classes in literature, history and geography in their second language. The school constantly rates top in the region, i.e. in 2005, 97% of the graduating students received their baccalaureate, whereas the "2004-2005 success rate for the baccalauréat in mainland France was 79.7%" (see baccalauréat article). The building is located on the Rhône riverside, and is a novelty in terms of architecture. After 15 years of hardship with the famous skyroof, a brand new one has been set in as of September 2007.

Confluence is a major shopping mall in Lyon, France, opened on 4 April 2012. It is located in the 2nd arrondissement of the city, in the new neighbourhood of Confluence.

The Hôtel de Ville (French pronunciation: [otɛl də vil], City Hall) is a municipal building in Oullins, Metropolis of Lyon, in eastern France, standing on Place Roger Salengro.

The Halle Tony Garnier is an arena and concert hall in Lyon, France. It was designed by Tony Garnier in 1905. Originally a slaughterhouse, the building was renovated in 1987 and opened as a concert hall in 1988. With a capacity of nearly 17,000, it is the third biggest venue in France after the Accor Arena and Paris La Défense Arena.
