Henrietta-Caroleen High School, also known as Tri-High, Tri-Community Elementary, and Chase Middle School, is a historic high school building located near Mooresboro, Rutherford County, North Carolina. It was designed by architect Leslie Boney (1880-1964) and built in 1925. It is a two-story on basement, "T"-plan, Classical Revival style red brick building. The front facade features a monumental, two-story, portico with a denticulated pediment supported by fluted Corinthian order columns. A brick gymnasium addition was built in 1935 and a hip-roofed, concrete block, addition to it was added in 1952. Also on the property are the contributing cafeteria building (1955, 1967), and a World War II Commemorative Marker (c. 1950). The building houses Thomas Jefferson Classical Academy, a public charter school.It was added to the National Register of Historic Places in 2005.

Ernest W. Spangler Stadium is a 9,000-seat multi-purpose stadium in Boiling Springs, North Carolina. It is home to the Gardner–Webb University Bulldogs football team. The facility opened in 1969. Spangler Stadium underwent a $7 million overhaul in 2005 that included additions of a new Football Center that houses football coaches' offices, athletic weight facilities, president's box, press box, and other luxury boxes.

Craven E. Williams Observatory is an astronomical observatory owned and operated by Gardner-Webb University. Built in 1990 and named for the ninth president of the university, it is located in Boiling Springs, North Carolina (USA). Among its instruments, the observatory features a 16 in (41 cm) Schmidt-Cassegrain telescope. The observatory is home to the Cleveland County Astronomical Society, and also holds monthly open houses for the community. Dr. Don Olive, an astronomer, oft-alleged nuclear physicist, and professor of science at the university maintains and opens the observatory to the campus and community on occasion.

Gardner–Webb University (Gardner–Webb, GWU, or GW) is a private Christian liberal arts university in Boiling Springs, North Carolina. It was founded as Boiling Springs High School in 1905. Gardner-Webb is a classified among "Doctoral/Professional Universities". Over 3,000 students attend Gardner–Webb, including undergraduate, graduate, and online students. Nine colleges and schools offer more than 80 undergraduate and graduate major fields of study. GWU's Runnin' Bulldogs compete in NCAA Division I as a member of the Big South Conference in most sports, although the men's and women's swim teams compete in the Coastal Collegiate Swim Association and the wrestling team competes in the Southern Conference.

John Henry Moss Stadium is a baseball stadium home to the Gardner-Webb University Runnin' Bulldogs. It was officially completed on September 18, 2010. The first regular season game played there was February 22, 2011. It has a capacity of about 700, but can be expanded. John Henry Moss was born in Kings Mountain, North Carolina, and was president of the South Atlantic League for 50 years. He was the youngest person to be a president of a professional baseball league, taking over the Western Carolina League in 1948 at the age of 29.

Paul Porter Arena is a 3,500-seat multi-purpose arena in Boiling Springs, North Carolina. It is home to the Gardner-Webb University Runnin' Bulldogs, of the Big South Conference. The Arena was named in honor of Paul B. Porter who was a Board of Advisors Honorary Member and Lifetime Member. The arena is part of the Lutz Yelton Convocation Center (LYCC) a project that was completed in 1982 which houses the Dover Theater and Paul Porter Arena. Although primarily used for basketball and volleyball athletic events, the arena is also used for graduation ceremonies, orientation and the weekly dimensions program. The seating plan in the arena can also be altered, as all of the red seats can be folded and pushed back allowing for greater floor space. Additional floor seating can also be added for events such as graduation or orientation.

E. B. Hamrick Hall is a historic academic building located on the campus of Gardner-Webb University in Boiling Springs, Cleveland County, North Carolina. It currently houses the Godbold School of Business which encompasses both the undergraduate and graduate business programs of Gardner-Webb University. It was built between 1920 and 1925, and is a three-story, nine-bay, T-shaped, Colonial Revival-style brick building. It features a five-bay projecting entrance pavilion. It is the oldest building on the campus of Gardner-Webb University.In 1925, the building was named Memorial Hall and dedicated to honor individuals from Cleveland and Rutherford Counties who died while serving in World War I, 1914-1918. It was listed on the National Register of Historic Places in 1982.On May 28, 2021, Hamrick Hall was rededicated in memory of students and alumni who had lost their lives during military service (dating back to World War I).

The Broad River Greenway was established in 1994 as a regional park for Cleveland County, NC.This site has been associated with recreation, long before the land was permanently protected. Duke Energy established the Palmer Shoals Canoe Access Area on the Broad River, as part of a FERC licence issued for the Cliffside Steam Station., just upstream. The "Old College Farm Trail" was a popular hiking venue on the adjoining tract of land owned by Gardner Webb University
