Strickland Ketel

Bowston is a village in Cumbria, England, situated about 4 miles (6.4 km) north of Kendal, beside the River Kent. It has an old, probably 17th century, bridge over the river which is a Grade II listed structure. A rare VR (Victoria Regina) postbox can be seen in the wall at the junction of Burneside Road and Potter Fell road. The village was home to William T. Palmer, an unsung Lakeland author, climber and local man. A mile north of the village, Godmond Hall is a 17th-century house incorporating a medieval pele tower.

Burneside railway station is in Burneside, Cumbria, England. The station is situated on the Windermere Branch Line from Oxenholme to Windermere. To the east of the station can be found the only two semaphore signals on the line guarding the manually operated road crossing. The station is owned by Network Rail and is operated by Northern who provide all passenger train services.

Helsfell Hall was a country house near Kentrigg in Cumbria. That part of the building which survives, and is now used as a barn, is a Grade II listed building.

Burneside () is a small village in South Lakeland in Cumbria, England. It is located to the north of Kendal and to the south east of Staveley, on the River Kent, just upstream from the confluence of the River Sprint. It has about 3,000 inhabitants. By the time of the 2011, Census Burneside had been transformed into an electoral ward only. The population of this ward was 1,888. The majority of the population are now recorded as living in Strickland Ketel parish. Burneside railway station is situated on the Windermere Branch Line, with services to Windermere to the north west, Oxenholme on the West Coast Main Line, and Lancaster to the south. Burneside is around 10 miles (16 km) from the M6 motorway.

Bonning Gate is a hamlet in Cumbria, England. It is located 3.2 miles (5.1 km) by road to the northwest of Kendal.

Scout Scar, also called Underbarrow Scar, is a hill in the English Lake District, west of Kendal, Cumbria and above the village of Underbarrow. It reaches 771 feet (235 m). Scout Scar is the subject of a chapter of Wainwright's book The Outlying Fells of Lakeland, but the summit he describes is a lower summit at 764 feet (233 m), 270m south of the highest point. Wainwright's anticlockwise recommended route also includes Cunswick Scar at 679 feet (207 m). The higher summit of Scout Scar has a topographic prominence of 109m and is thus classified as a HuMP, a hill with a prominence of at least 100m.Scout Scar and Cunswick Scar are both formed of Carboniferous Limestone and dip gently towards the east with a steep western scarp slope.At the lower, southern, summit there is a shelter, locally known as "The Mushroom". It was built in 1912 as a memorial to King George V, and restored in 1969 and again in 2003. The structure includes a toposcope indicating the Central Fells and other landmarks.

Strickland Roger is a civil parish in South Lakeland, Cumbria, England. In the 2001 census the parish had a population of 544, decreasing at the 2011 census to 480. It lies north of Burneside and west of the A6 road, and is bordered by the parishes of Strickland Ketel to the south west, Nether Staveley and Kentmere to the west, Whitwell and Selside to the north, and Skelsmergh to the east.There are 16 listed buildings or structures in the parish, all at grade II.

Cunswick Scar is a limestone scar (cliff or steep rock face) in the Lake District, England. There are extensive views from the large cairn at the top (207 metres (679 ft)). The scar is listed in the Scout Scar chapter of Wainwright's The Outlying Fells of Lakeland.Fossils can be found in the limestone on the scar and Cunswick Fell. The area is also of interest for its flora and fauna: Scout Scar and Cunswick Scar have been designated a Site of Special Scientific Interest.

St Thomas' Church is in Stricklandgate, Kendal, Cumbria, England. It is an active Anglican parish church in the deanery of Kendal, the archdeaconry of Westmorland and Furness, and the diocese of Carlisle. The church is recorded in the National Heritage List for England as a designated Grade II listed building. Along with St George's Church and the Church of Holy Trinity and St George it is one of three churches in the town designed by local architect George Webster.
