Šobec Campground is a campsite located 2 kilometers (1.2 mi) south of Highway E61 near Lesce, Slovenia. The campsite lies next to Šobec Pond (Slovene: Šobčev bajer), a small artificial lake created by impounding a few inflows below the upper river terrace, where the southern part of Lesce is located. The elevation of the pond is 421 meters (1,381 ft). Its area is 2.6 hectares (6.4 acres), and its deepest point is 3 meters (9.8 ft) The pond is elliptical, with its major axis extending in a north–south direction. The pond was named after the Šobec farm, which stands nearby.The campsite near the pond is in a pine forest next to the Sava Dolinka River. With an area of more than 15 hectares (37 acres), it is a higher-quality campsite. During the winter the campsite is closed, but it is nevertheless regularly visited by people from all over Europe because it is a popular starting point for hiking around the Upper Carniola region.

Lesce

Lesce (pronounced [lɛˈstsɛ]) is a town in the Municipality of Radovljica in the Upper Carniola region of Slovenia. It is an industrial and tourist centre. It is one of the earliest-mentioned settlements in the region, first noted in a document from 1004 together with Bled and Bohinj. Lesce is the location of the Lesce–Bled Airfield and Šobec Campground. Lesce is also the home town of retired ski jumpers Vinko Bogataj and Franci Petek. The Sava Dolinka is a headwater of the Sava River in northwestern Slovenia. The 45 kilometres (28 mi) long Sava Dolinka starts as Nadiža Creek in the Planica Valley under Mount Zadnja Ponca in the Julian Alps, at an elevation of 1222 m, close to the Italian border. The stream goes underground soon after its source and breaks out again after 5 km at an elevation of 842 m in Zelenci, near Kranjska Gora. The Sava Dolinka flows through Kranjska Gora, Gozd Martuljek, Jesenice, between Bled and Breg, and past the town of Lesce. The first in a series of hydroelectric power plants on the river, the Moste Hydro Power Plant (22.5 MW), is located near Žirovnica. Tributaries of the Sava Dolinka include the Triglav Bistrica at Mojstrana and the Radovna, which flows through the Vintgar Gorge near Bled.
