Oxford Township is one of seven townships in Johnson County, Kansas, USA. As of the 2010 census, its population was 2,020.

It is one of the major school districts in the Kansas City Metropolitan Area and is one of the larger school districts in the state of Kansas. There are currently 30,145 students enrolled in the district, which currently operates 5 high schools, 10 middle schools, and 35 elementary schools (one planned to open in 2019), as well as a number of additional educational and support facilities. Portions of the city of Olathe make up 66% of the district's territory. Areas of Lenexa make up 19%, sections of Overland Park make up 8%, and portions of Shawnee make up less than 1%. Unincorporated areas make up about 6% of the territory.

Blue Valley Southwest High School is a fully accredited public high school located in Overland Park, Kansas, United States, and one of five currently operated high schools in the Blue Valley USD 229 school district. The school opened in August 2010. The principal is Tyler Alexander. Its feeder school is Aubry Bend Middle School. In total, Blue Valley Southwest is a 321,000-square-foot (29,800 m2) facility. The school mascot is the Timberwolf and the school colors are forest green, black, and silver.

On February 22, 2017, Adam Purinton shot two Indian men, Srinivas Kuchibhotla and Alok Madasani, whom he had allegedly mistaken for Iranians, at a restaurant in Olathe, Kansas, killing Kuchibhotla. He reportedly yelled "get out of my country" and "terrorist" before firing. A third man, Ian Grillot, was wounded after he came to the two men's aid. Several hours later, Purinton was arrested in Clinton, Missouri.

Heritage Christian Academy is a private Christian school with campuses in Overland Park, Kansas and Olathe, Kansas. It serves pre-kindergarten through grade 12.

The Deanna Rose Children's Farmstead is a family attraction in Overland Park, Kansas. The facility shows farm animals, birds of prey, show gardens, butterfly gardens, a nature trail, a Kanza Native American display, and a full-scale one-room schoolhouse. The facility also provides playgrounds, a fishing pond, horse-drawn wagon rides, and pony rides.The facility began as a petting zoo in 1978 and was renamed in 1985 to honor Deanna Rose, an Overland Park police officer. Rose was the first Overland Park police officer killed in the line of duty.In 2014, the site began hosting an elaborate Christmas light display around the Christmas Holiday Season.

The principal is Katherine Bonnema. The school mascot is the Jaguar and the school colors are red, black, and silver. In the 2013 Newsweek rankings of the top high schools in America, Blue Valley West was ranked 1st in the state of Kansas and 439th in the nation.Blue Valley West High School opened in August 2001 in order to help educate the increasing population of Overland Park. It was the fourth high school in the Blue Valley Unified School District to open, preceded by Blue Valley Northwest High School in 1993. Blue Valley West is a member of the Kansas State High School Activities Association and offers a variety of sports programs. Athletic teams compete in the 6A division and are known as the "Jaguars". Extracurricular activities are also offered in the form of performing arts, school publications, and clubs.

The school colors are orange and navy blue, and the school's mascot is the Hawk. Olathe East was recognized as a National School of Excellence in 1998 by the U.S. Department of Education.

The Blue Valley Sports Complex (or the District Athletic Complex, commonly known as the DAC) is a baseball, football, swimming and soccer complex located in Overland Park, Kansas. The complex is regularly home to the local high schools, Blue Valley North High School, Blue Valley Northwest High School, and Blue Valley West High School, and also held various games for Sporting Kansas City in 2001, 2004, 2006, and 2011.

Overland Park Arboretum and Botanical Gardens (120 hectares / 300 acres) is an arboretum and botanical garden that was opened in 1991. It is located a mile west of U.S. Highway 69 on 179th Street, Overland Park, Kansas. It is operated by the City of Overland Park, Kansas, a city in the greater Kansas City metropolitan area.
