Knox County Jail

The Knox County Courthouse, located on the public square of Knoxville near its associated hall of records, is the former county courthouse of Knox County, Illinois. The courthouse was built in 1840 to replace the county's first courthouse; built in 1831 shortly after the county's organization, it had been outgrown by the end of the decade. Architect John Mandeville gave the building its Greek Revival design. The Hall of Records, which was designed by Charles Ulricson, was added in 1854 to house county records after the courthouse ran out of space for them. The Knox County seat moved to Galesburg in 1873; the courthouse and hall of records subsequently housed the Knoxville city hall and public library respectively until 1978, when the city government moved to the hall and the courthouse became a museum.The buildings were added to the National Register of Historic Places on February 13, 1992.

KHS is part of Knoxville Community Unit School District 202, which also includes Knoxville Junior High School, and Mable Woolsey Elementary School. The campus is located in 6 miles southeast of Galesburg, Illinois, and serves a mixed small city and rural residential community. The school is in the Galesburg micropolitan statistical area which includes all of Knox and Warren counties.

The Walnut Grove Farm is a farm complex and historic district located on Knox Station Road 1 mile (1.6 km) north of Knoxville, Illinois. George A. Charles, the son of one of Knoxville's founders, established the farm in 1835. Charles, his sons A.G. and A.P., and A.G.'s son George were all both successful farmers and prominent citizens of Knoxville. The farm focused on breeding cattle and growing corn, with an emphasis on the former; at its peak, the farm covered over 1,900 acres (770 ha), 360 acres (150 ha) of which are included in the historic district. The present farm complex includes a main house, a tenant farmer's house, a bank barn that was once among the largest in the state, three additional barns, a hog farrowing building, and a collection of outbuildings.The farm was added to the National Register of Historic Places on August 24, 1989.

WAIK (AM 1590) was a radio station licensed to Galesburg, Illinois, with studios in Monmouth, Illinois. It went silent in January 2019 and its license was cancelled in June 2019. At the time it closed, it was operating a full service format with oldies.The station signed on the air as WQUB in 1957 as a sister station to WQUA in Moline. The WQUB construction permit was issued on April 3, 1957, and its first full license was granted on January 9, 1958. It was bought by Creative Broadcasting Ltd. in 1975 and had the call sign WAIK by 1979 with a middle of the road music format. WAIK broadcast Chicago White Sox Baseball, Chicago Bulls basketball, and featured programming from ABC Radio and Sporting News Radio.In October 2018, owner WPW sold WAIK's sister stations, 1330 WRAM and 97.7 WMOI, both licensed for Monmouth, to Robbins-Treat Resources, but didn't include WAIK in the sale, instead taking WAIK off the air on January 14, 2019. The station's license was surrendered to the Federal Communications Commission on February 5, 2019, but it was not cancelled until June 19, 2019.

Licensed to Knoxville, Illinois, the station serves the Galesburg area including Knoxville, Monmouth, Abingdon and surrounding communities. WKAY is owned by Galesburg Broadcasting Company. The station, known on the air as "Today's Refreshing Light Rock 105.3 KFM" or "105.3 KFM" for short, signed on the air on Wednesday, December 13, 2000. Before the "official" sign on, the station played Christmas music while testing the transmitter. "Officially", the first song played was the "Heart of Rock-n-Roll" by Huey Lewis & The News. Mornings host Chris McIntyre was the first jock to be heard on 105.3 KFM. The original on-air line-up consisted of Chris McIntyre (5:30 am – 10 am), Scott Michael (10 am – 3 pm), K.C. Fleming (3 pm – 7 pm). As of 2021, Chris McIntyre is still Program Director and host of "Mornings with McIntyre" with Nick Ischer with the News & Sports. As of 2022 the on-air line up consists of Chris McIntyre (5 am – 12 pm), and Tyler Gumm (12 pm – 6 pm). In addition to morning duties Chris McIntyre is also the Program/Music Director. The station's format is adult contemporary featuring artists such as John Mayer, Lady Gaga, Daughtry, Katy Perry, Pink, Rob Thomas, Taylor Swift, along with hits from the 1970s, 1980s, and 1990s. On weekends, the station features an all-1970s format on Saturdays titled "Saturday in the 70s". In addition to locally hosted shows, "Saturday in the 70s" also features syndicated shows like Casey Kasem's AT 40:The 70s, The 70s with Steve Goddard, and Back to the 70s with M.G. Kelly. On Sundays, the station features an all 1980s format titled "Absolutely 80s". With locally hosted shows along with Casey Kasem's AT40: The 80s. WKAY-FM is also known as the "Christmas Station" dropping the adult contemporary format for an all Christmas format beginning at 9 am the day before Thanksgiving through Christmas Day.

The station is owned by Galesburg Broadcasting Company.The station has a country music format, plus presents news and market information throughout the day. One feature of the station's format is a classic country program, presented at noon weekdays and for three hours on Sunday mornings; during these blocks, music from the 1940s through early 1990s are played.

Galesburg is home to Knox College, a private four-year liberal arts college, and Carl Sandburg College, a two-year community college. A 496-acre (201 ha) section of the city is listed on the National Register of Historic Places as the Galesburg Historic District.
