The Battle of Nancy was the final and decisive battle of the Burgundian Wars, fought outside the walls of Nancy on 5 January 1477 by Charles the Bold, Duke of Burgundy, against René II, Duke of Lorraine, and the Swiss Confederacy. René's forces won the battle, and Charles' mutilated body was found three days later.

It was created on January 26, 1982, from 11 communes of the canton of Saint-Nicolas-de-Port. It is now part of the canton of Saint-Max. The last general councillor from this canton was Jean-Pierre Laurency (PS), elected in 2011.

The school trains engineers with in organizational engineering, design engineering, innovation, management of complex projects. Located in Nancy, the ENSGSI is a public higher education institution. The school is a member of the National Polytechnic Institute of Lorraine.

The Diocese of Nancy and Toul (Latin: Dioecesis Nanceiensis et Tullensis; French: Diocèse de Nancy et de Toul) is a Latin Church ecclesiastical territory or diocese of the Catholic Church in France. The École Européenne d'Ingénieurs en Génie des Matériaux (EEIGM) is a French engineering College created in 1991. The EEIGM trains 90 materials engineers every year. All students study the main groups of materials, which are metals and alloys, polymers, ceramics and composites. Located in Nancy, the EEIGM is a public higher education institution. It was erected in the 18th century. The cathedral is in the Baroque architectural style. It is a national monument and the seat of the Bishop of Nancy and Toul.

The French National School of Forestry (École nationale des eaux et forêts, or National School of Water Resources and Forestry), established in Nancy, France, in 1824, was the first national training institute for foresters in France, and a premier early school of forestry in Europe and globally. In 1964, it was merged into the National School of Rural Engineering, Water Resources and Forestry (École nationale du génie rural, des eaux et des forêts, or ENGREF), which in turn became part of AgroParisTech (Institut des sciences et industries du vivant et de l’environnement, or Paris Institute of Technology for Life, Food and Environmental Sciences) in 2006.

Created in 1969, the school depends on the French ministry for the Culture and the Communication since 1996.
