Thornton's Corners GO Station is a planned GO Transit train station to be built by Metrolinx in the community of Oshawa, Ontario, as part of the approved expansion of train service on the Lakeshore East line to Bowmanville. The station would be located along a new spur line connecting the CNR rail corridor east of Oshawa GO Station to CP Rail's Belleville Subdivision further north.As of 2022, Metrolinx identifies this station by the name "Thornton Road East" rather than just "Thornton Road" on its website; the station name is still subject to change.

The Oshawa Civic Auditorium was an indoor arena in Oshawa, Ontario, Canada. It operated from 1964 to 2006, and was primarily used as an ice hockey venue for the Oshawa Generals. The auditorium was built as a replacement to the Hambly Arena, which burned down in 1953. The auditorium was part of a larger multi-purpose recreational complex.

Durham College Oshawa GO station is a station for commuter rail, passenger rail and regional bus services in Oshawa, Ontario, Canada. It is the terminal station for the Lakeshore East line of GO Transit and serves Via Rail's Corridor service, which travels from Toronto to both Ottawa and Montreal. The bus terminal is served by bus routes of GO Transit and Durham Region Transit.

Oshawa Centre is a two-storey shopping mall located in the city of Oshawa, Ontario, Canada. Located at King Street and Stevenson Road, it is the largest mall in Durham Region and the largest in Ontario east of Toronto with over 230 retail stores and public services. Its Executive Office complex includes the Ministry of Health of Ontario. The Oshawa Centre is owned and managed by Ivanhoé Cambridge. One of Durham Region Transit's bus terminals is located outside of the mall's south-east entrance, from which there are regular bus services to Oshawa GO Station, Whitby GO Station, and the campuses of Durham College, among other destinations.

Anderson Collegiate Vocational Institute (Anderson CVI, Anderson Collegiate, Anderson, or ACVI) is located in Whitby, Ontario within the Durham District School Board. Established in 1960, the school has students in grades 9–12 and offers a wide range of academic and extracurricular activities. Anderson is the only high school in Whitby that offers the gifted program and thus acts as a magnet school, attracting students across the municipality. This program provides an enriched and accelerated curriculum for students in specific courses from grades 9–11. Anderson's feeder elementary schools are Bellwood Public School, C. E. Broughton Public School, Dr. Robert Thornton Public School, Pringle Creek Public School (regular and gifted), and Jack Miner Public School (gifted only). The Whitby Rail Maintenance Facility is a GO Transit rolling stock maintenance facility in Whitby, Ontario, Canada. The depot lies between Victoria Street East and GO Transit's Lakeshore East line just east of South Blair Street. It is a secondary depot, the primary depot being the Willowbrook Rail Maintenance Facility along GO Transit's Lakeshore West line.Plenary Infrastructure, a consortium, is responsible for maintenance and repairs to the facility under a 30-year contract. Bombardier Transportation maintains rolling stock within the facility. Metrolinx owns the facility.

The Durham Catholic District School Board (DCDSB, known as English-language Separate District School Board No. 45 prior to 1999) is a Catholic school board located in Durham Region, east of Toronto, Ontario. It currently runs 39 elementary schools and 7 secondary schools. The board also runs one Adult Education Centre in Ajax and one Continuing Education Centre in Oshawa. The DCDSB has engaged in a focused effort to improve student learning through ongoing staff development in the area of instructional leadership. Of note is the steady improvement in student achievement as reported by the results of Provincial Assessments in math and literacy, also known as the EQAO tests.The DCDSB was previously known as the Durham Region Roman Catholic Separate School Board (DRRCSSB) until the end of 1997, operating both anglophone and francophone schools. The French schools in the Durham Region are now operated by Conseil scolaire catholique MonAvenir.

Oshawa Metal or Oshawa Metal Centre is a General Motors of Canada facility in Oshawa, Ontario. Built in 1986 to supply metal for Chevrolet Lumina and Buick Regal made in Oshawa, the plant now makes steel used at the Oshawa Car Assembly plant and other GM customers. It is GM's only metal facility in Canada located close to an assembly plant. The 587,000 square feet (54,500 m2) facilities makes over 80,000 parts a day using 337 tons of steel a day to make 22 million parts a year.

Whitby—Oshawa was a provincial electoral district in Ontario, Canada, that was represented in the Legislative Assembly of Ontario from the 2007 provincial election until 2018. The riding was adjusted by the 2015 Representation Act for the 2018 provincial election, losing some territory to the district of Oshawa, and replaced as the district of Whitby.

The school offers curricula for students in grades 9–12 and a wide range of academic and extracurricular activities.
