The Ahr Cycleway (German: Ahr-Radweg) is a cycle path, that runs from the source of the River Ahr in Blankenheim, in the Eifel region of Germany, along the river to its mouth on the Rhine near Kripp. Several sections are on an old railway trackbed. The route starts in the middle of the Eifel mountains and runs initially through a valley landscape with broad river bends. From the hamlet of Schuld the Ahr Valley narrows and swings around the settlement in a loop. In Altenahr, hillsides and rocks come close to the river itself and offer the best conditions for the wine growing. Behind the spa town of Bad Neuenahr-Ahrweiler the Ahr reaches its broad delta on the Rhine. The cycleway is not difficult and suitable for leisure cyclists. The route is uniformly signed with the cycleway's logo.

The Nonnenbach is a seven-kilometre-long tributary of the Ahr in the area of Blankenheim in the district of Euskirchen in the German state of North Rhine-Westphalia.

Blankenheim Castle (German: Burg Blankenheim) is a schloss above the village of Blankenheim in the Eifel mountains of Germany. It was built as a hill castle around 1115 by Gerhard I and became the family seat of the House of Blankenheim. The lords of Blankenheim were elevated to the countship in 1380. The counts were related to the counts of Manderscheid and, from 1469, were named Manderscheid-Blankenheim. With the extinction of the lines of Manderscheid-Gerolstein and Manderscheid-Kail (1742) the County of Manderscheid became the largest independent territorial lordship in the Eifel.

Dahlem is a municipality in the district of Euskirchen, in the state of North Rhine-Westphalia, Germany. It has the lowest population density and population of all the state's municipalities. It is located in the Eifel hills, approx. 35 km south-west of Euskirchen. The small medieval town Kronenburg is part of the municipality.

The Alte Burg ("Old Castle") near Lommersdorf in the municipality of Blankenheim in the county of Euskirchen in the German state of North Rhine-Westphalia is a levelled mediaeval castle site. The site lies about 900 metres north of the River Ahr, above the village of Ahrhütte in the valley of the Mühlenbach on the L 105 country road. On the east, the hillside drops rapidly from around 431 m above NHN at the castle to the foot of the hill at about 378 metres above sea level. The spur castle, which covered a small area, probably goes back to the Late Middle Ages. According to Janssen, the two-part structure belongs to the "two-part motte group (Gruppe der zweiteiligen Motten). But its small size is unusual for the genre. On the small, conical hill, just four metres in diameter on a hilltop plateau, was most likely to have been a tower. In 1928, Wackenroder confirmed that there were still stone remains that pointed to a former wall. The site has not yet been investigated archaeologically, but there are now no wall remains or other solid remains to be seen. A family, the von Lommersdorfs are recorded in deeds dating to 1455 and 1478 which mention a John of Lommersdorf. Whethere there is a connexion between him and the castle is not certain. The site may have been linked to the quarrying of brown iron ore, which was then smelted in the nearby ironworks.

The Armuthsbach is an 18.4-kilometre-long, orographically left-hand tributary of the Ahr in the German states of North Rhine-Westphalia and Rhineland-Palatinate.
