Rio de Los Angeles State Park is a California State Park along the Los Angeles River north of downtown Los Angeles in the neighborhood of Glassell Park, Los Angeles. The 247-acre (1.00 km2) park includes restored wetlands featuring native plants as well as sports fields, a children’s playground and a recreation building. Rio de Los Angeles State Park is currently managed in partnership with the City of Los Angeles Department of Parks and Recreation.

Glassell Park Elementary School is an elementary school listed on the National Register of Historic Places. It is located at 2211 W. Avenue 30, in the Glassell Park neighborhood of Los Angeles, California. It is a PK-6 active school. The principal is Ms. Claudia Pelayo. It is a part of the Los Angeles Unified School District (LAUSD). It was built in 1924 in Spanish Colonial Revival style. Following the 1933 Long Beach earthquake it was updated in P.W.A. Moderne architecture to make repairs and to meet new earthquake-related building codes. Elementary schools in Los Angeles were a part of the Los Angeles City School District until July 1, 1961, when it merged into LAUSD.The school's main presentation to the public is its long, south-facing facade along W. Avenue 30 of length 190 feet (58 m). Its 100-foot (30 m) building frontage on Carlyle Street is less visible. The property was deemed notable partly in the area of social history.Only the 1924/35 school building and its portion of grounds were deemed to be contributing resources. Modular classrooms, playground areas, and a 1951-built cafeteria were considered intrusions that do not add to the historic character of the property.

Rancho Cañada de los Nogales was a 1,200-acre (4.9 km2) Mexican land grant in present day Los Angeles County, California given in 1844 by Governor Manuel Micheltorena to José Maria Aguilar. The name means "canyon of the walnut trees" and refers to stands of California Black Walnut trees. The grant extended along the east bank of the Los Angeles River opposite Rancho Los Feliz, and encompassed present day Cypress Park, Mt. Washington and Highland Park. The grant adjoined Rancho San Rafael to the north.

Cypress Park is a densely populated neighborhood of 10,000+ residents in Northeast Los Angeles, California. Surrounded by hills on three sides, it sits in the valley created by the Los Angeles River and the Arroyo Seco. It is the site of the Rio de Los Angeles State Park, the Los Angeles River Bike Path and other recreational facilities. It hosts one private and four public schools. The area was settled as a Spanish rancho which, after the Mexican–American War, became the property of an American landowner. After his death, Cypress Park was subdivided and established as a community in 1882. There are four Los Angeles Historic-Cultural Monuments in Cypress Park. The area is currently undergoing rapid to moderate gentrification due to its close proximity to Highland Park, Downtown and various transportation hubs.

Elysian Park is one of largest parks in Los Angeles at 600 acres (240 ha). Most of Elysian Park falls in the neighborhood of the same name, but a small portion of the park falls in Echo Park. The park was created by city ordinance on April 5, 1886. City engineer George Hansen sponsored the ordinance. The land was considered "worthless" at the time. At the time, only a few other parks existed within the Los Angeles city limits. For some time the land sat unimproved, but eventually roads, trails, and landscaping was added.Parts of Elysian Park were swapped for other lands held by the Los Angeles Dodgers when Dodger Stadium was built.
