Putnoe Wood

Mowsbury Hill is a 2.8 hectare Local Nature Reserve and Scheduled Monument in north Bedford. It is owned and managed by Bedford Borough Council with the assistance of the Friends of Putnoe Wood and Mowsbury Hillfort.Archaeological excavation has shown that the site is a univallate (having a single rampart) hillfort, and pottery dates to the early Iron Age, occupied for a limited period. In medieval times it was a moated settlement with two fishponds in the Manor of Morinsbury. The site is also an old orchard with a wildflower meadow, woodland, scrub, a moat and ponds.There is access from the Mowsbury Golf Course car park on Cleat Hill.

Mark Rutherford School is a mixed secondary school and sixth form in Bedford, England. The school is named in honour of the Bedford-born writer William Hale White (1831-1913), who used Mark Rutherford as a pseudonym. Mark Rutherford school educates pupils from age 11 through to 16. In addition, the school offers a sixth form provision for pupils age 16 to 19 wishing to study courses such as A levels. Putnoe is an electoral ward on the northern side of Bedford, England. The boundaries of Putnoe are approximately Mowsbury Park and golf course to the north, Church Lane and Haylands Way to the east, Polhill Avenue to the south, with Kimbolton Road to the west. Part of the area is also known as Woodside.

Freeman's Common is a 12.5 hectare area of land situated to the north of Bedford, in the parish of Ravensden. It was created in 1858. Over many years it has been the focus of local dispute as to whether the site should be developed. Despite the name, it is not in fact registered as common land.

It encompasses much of the historic village and parish of Goldington that was merged with Bedford in 1934, although some parts of the old village are within the neighbouring Newnham ward. It also includes two modern estates that are part of Renhold parish. The boundaries of Goldington are approximately The Spires and Aspire estates to the north, Norse Road to the east, Goldington Road to the south, with Church Lane and Bow Hill to the west. The northern part of the area is sometimes known as Elms Farm.

The boundaries of Brickhill are approximately Kimbolton Road to the east, Bedford Park and the old Bedford cemetery to the south, with Cemetery Hill and the Manton Heights Industrial Estate to the west. The Woodlands Park housing estate (off Tyne Crescent) became part of Brickhill parish in 2015.

Goldington Bury is a cricket ground in the Goldington area of Bedford, in England. The first recorded match on the ground was in 1941, when Bedford Town played London Counties. The ground hosted its first Minor Counties Championship match when Bedfordshire played Hertfordshire in 1967. From 1967 to 2003, the ground played host to 32 Minor Counties Championship matches, with the final Minor Counties Championship match played at the ground seeing Bedfordshire host Northumberland. The ground has also hosted 2 MCCA Knockout Trophy matches.The ground has also hosted List-A matches, the first played between Bedfordshire and Hampshire in the 1968 Gillette Cup. The ground has hosted 3 List-A matches involving Bedfordshire and a single match with Minor Counties South as the home side against Essex in the 1975 Benson & Hedges Cup.In local domestic cricket, Goldington Bury is the home ground of Bedford Cricket Club and has been since the 1930s. The club was known under the name of Bedford Town Cricket Club until 2006, when it ceased operating, before reforming under its current name.

Ravensden is a village and civil parish located in the Borough of Bedford in Bedfordshire, England. The parish borders the town of Bedford, with Mowsbury Park, farmland and Freeman's Common acting as a buffer between the two settlements. The village hosts a primary school (Ravensden CofE Primary Academy), and a pub called The Horse and Jockey, as well as All Saints Church, dating to the 12th century. There is also a village hall. For elections to Bedford Borough Council, Ravensden is part of Great Barford ward, and for national elections it is part of the North East Bedfordshire parliamentary constituency. A housing estate called Woodlands Park was established in the southern part of Ravensden parish in the late 2000s. The estate is separated from the village by farmland, with vehicular access to the community coming from the Brickhill area of Bedford. In April 2015 Woodlands Park became part of Brickhill parish, but remains part of Great Barford ward for elections to Bedford Borough Council.
