Willow Creek (Jordan River tributary)

The 1938 South Jordan rail crossing disaster was a collision between a school bus and a train at a level crossing resulting in the deaths of 24 people, 23 of which were students on their way to school. The accident is the basis for an urban legend in San Antonio, Texas.

South Jordan station is a FrontRunner commuter rail station in South Jordan, Utah. It is operated by the Utah Transit Authority. It is part of the FrontRunner South extension.

The Samuel and Geneva Holt Farmstead, located at 10317 South 1300 West in South Jordan, Utah, United States, was built during 1907-09 and received later additions. It was listed on the National Register of Historic Places in 2001.The farmstead, including outbuildings built in 1907 and since, was deemed significant in 2001 as one of only a "handful" of surviving historic farmsteads in South Jordan, and notably had been worked by the farm's residents and remained in the same family. The house was also important as exemplifying Victorian Eclectic architecture, whose application in a rural area helped in "denoting the end of Utah's isolation from the nation in the late nineteenth century.": 9 

The Garside-McMullin House, at 10481 S. 1300 West in South Jordan, Utah, was listed on the National Register of Historic Places in 1982.It is a Queen Anne style house built in 1898. It was deemed significant for its architecture and for its association with two families, the Garsides and the McMullins.It was used for city offices of South Jordan in the 1960s. The street address given at the property now is 10500, and signage calls it the McMullin House.

The Shops at South Town, formerly South Towne Center, is a shopping mall in Sandy, Utah, United States, located just east of Interstate 15 on State Street. The property, built in 1986, contains 1,300,000 square feet (120,000 m2) of retail space with 150 stores and restaurants. It has five anchor spaces with a plot for sixth that has never been built. The anchor stores are Round 1 Entertainment, HomeGoods, and JCPenney. There are two vacant anchor stores that were Forever 21 and Macy's. The mall opened in 1986 with a single anchor being ZCMI (later Meier & Frank then Macy's). JCPenney opened in 1992. Mervyns (later Forever 21) was added in 1994. A Montgomery Ward Specialty Store was planned to open 1995 but fell through and became Dillard's which opened in 1997. A large Cineplex Odeon cinema opened in 1990 as the largest cinema in the state at the time with 2,350 seats spread across 10-screens. It closed in February 2001 as part of Loews Cineplex Entertainment bankruptcy. The building was gutted in 2002 now housing a REI sports store and Momentum Indoor Climbing. The mall underwent the first phase of an interior and exterior remodel from 2015 to 2017, and was officially unveiled on February 14, 2017. Phase 2 is currently underway. The redevelopment is part of Sandy's 1,100-acre (4,500,000 m2) city center development project, The Cairns.In early 2013, former management company Macerich announced that they put the mall up for sale and had several interested buyers. It has since been purchased and, as of February 2017, is currently managed by Pacific Retail.In May 2017, it was announced that a Round One Entertainment location (now open) would be coming to the mall in August 2018 as part of the mall's ongoing renovation. Other renovations in the second phase of redevelopment include remodeling the former Dillard's space; extending the concourse to include Round 1 Entertainment, and HomeGoods along with other shops; remodeling an atrium and adding skylights; additional lounge seating, digital kiosks, and exterior glazing; and a new play area for children. In October 2019, following the Chapter 11 bankruptcy of Forever 21, it was announced that the South Town location would close by the end of the year unless agreements were made with the landlord. The location closed the following January. On January 6, 2021, it was announced that Macy's would close in mid-2021 as part of a plan to close 46 nationwide. After Macy's closed, JCPenney is the only traditional anchor store left.

The Albert and Celestine Mabey House, at 10201 S. 1300 West in South Jordan, Utah, was listed on the National Register of Historic Places in 2013.It is an Italianate and Victorian house built in 1898.

Hale Centre Theatre is a theatre company headquartered in Sandy, Utah. Their mission statement is “enriching lives through world-class theatre.” In 1985, Ruth and Nathan Hale partnered with their daughter, Sally Hale Rice, and their oldest grandson, Mark Dietlein and his wife (also Sally) to start a theatre in Utah. They converted an old lingerie factory in South Salt Lake to a theatre-in-the-round with 220 seats. After a couple of expansions, they moved into a new facility in West Valley City in 1998. After selling out all 613 seats at Harman Hall on a regular basis, a new partnership was formed with Sandy City in 2017 as they opened the new home of Hale Centre Theatre at the Mountain America Performing Arts Centre. Hale Centre Theatre provides traditional play and musical theatre productions on two state-of-the-art stages under one roof in Sandy City. The smaller Sorenson Legacy Jewel Box Stage seats 467 people; the larger Young Living Centre Stage seats 911. The Theatre has a total of 130,000 square feet and is the only professional theatre venue between Salt Lake City, a half hour to the north, and St. George, four hours to the south. It is considered to be a cultural highlight of downtown Sandy. Hale Centre Theatre provides learning opportunities for students and individuals interested in a career in acting, production, lighting, sound, and composition. One way they give back to the community is by providing complimentary tickets to area schools around Utah to promote wholesome, exceptional theatre experiences for the rising generation. The success of this outreach has earned Hale Centre Theatre a loyal fan base of people of all ages.

The Jordan River Utah Temple (formerly the Jordan River Temple) is the 20th operating temple of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints. Located in South Jordan, Utah, it was built with a modern single-spire design. A site dedication and groundbreaking ceremony were held on June 9, 1979. The ceremony and dedication were presided over by church president Spencer W. Kimball. Instead of the usual small ceremonial shovel-full of dirt at the groundbreaking, Kimball used a large power scoop shovel to begin the building process. The temple was open to the public for tours September 29 through October 31, 1981. Over half a million people toured the temple during its open house. On August 7, 2015, the church announced that beginning February 15, 2016, the temple would close for renovations that were anticipated to be completed during the latter part of 2017. A public open house was held from March 17 through April 28, 2018, excluding Sundays and two Saturdays associated with the church's general conference. The temple was rededicated by Henry B. Eyring on May 20, 2018.

Crescent Elementary School is a public school located in the Crescent neighborhood of Sandy, Utah. It is included on the National Register of Historic Places.

Jordan High School (also referred to as Jordan High or JHS ) is a public high school located in Sandy, Utah (USA) It is one of six high schools in the Canyons School District. The school was established in 1907, making it one of the oldest public high schools in the state of Utah.

Sandy Civic Center is a light rail station in Sandy, Utah, United States serviced by the Blue Line of Utah Transit Authority's TRAX light rail system. The Blue Line provides service from Downtown Salt Lake City to Draper. Prior to the opening of the Draper extension in 2013, this station was the southernmost on the Blue Line. The station opened on December 4, 1999 as part of the first operating segment of the TRAX system on the Sandy/University Line.

Crescent View is a light rail station in Sandy, Utah, in the United States, served by the Blue Line of Utah Transit Authority's TRAX light rail system. The Blue Line provides service from Downtown Salt Lake City to Draper.
