Tuitjenhorn was the main village of the former Harenkarspel municipality. Tuitjenhorn lies about 9 km northwest of Heerhugowaard. The village was first mentioned between 1280 and 1287 as "van tutinghehorne". The etymology is unclear. Tuitjenhorn is a dike village. The Catholic St Jacobus de Meerdere Church is a basilica-like church built between 1857 and 1859 and has been built around a tower from 1810.

Harenkarspel (Dutch pronunciation: [ˈɦaːrə(n)ˌkɑspəl] (listen)) is a former municipality in the Netherlands, in the province of North Holland and the region of West-Frisia. The main town of Harenkarspel was Tuitjenhorn. In 2013, Harenkarspel merged with Schagen and Zijpe into a new municipality, which is called Schagen.

Dirkshorn is a dike village which developed in the Late Middle Ages.The Dutch Reformed church is a Gothic Revival church which was built in 1868 to replace the 1659 church.

The village was first mentioned in 1343 as Stroeden, and means "soggy area with shrubbery". Stroet used to have a wind mill, but it was demolished in the early 20th century.

An agricultural community. The area surrounding the town produces mainly dairy products, cabbage/potatoes, and hot house flowers. Mainly a Roman Catholic community featuring two churches, an old Protestant one, fallen into disuse, built in 16th century and a more modern Roman Catholic church constructed in the early 20th century. Warmenhuizen was a separate municipality until 1990, when it was merged with Harenkarspel. Harenkarspel merged with Schagen in 2013.

Eenigenburg (Dutch pronunciation: [ˈeːnəɣə(m)ˌbɵr(ə)x]; West Frisian: Einigeborgt) is a village in the Dutch province of North Holland and the region of West-Frisia. It is a part of the municipality of Schagen, and lies about 10 km northwest of Heerhugowaard. The village was first mentioned in 1289 as Eimhborch, and means "lonely/abandoned castle" which is a reference to Nieuwendoorn Castle built by Floris V, Count of Holland in 1282 during his war against West-Frisia. The castle was probably destroyed by a flood in the 14th century. There are multiple terps (artificial living hills) around Eenigenburg. The village itself is built on four terps.The Dutch Reformed church dates 1792 and is on its own terp from the 14th century together with the clergy house. The church is no longer in service, and is used for cultural activities and concerts.

Groeneveld is a former municipality in the Dutch province of South Holland. It was located to the west of the city of Delft. The municipality covered the Groeneveldse Polder, northwest of De Lier, and contained no towns or villages; only the hamlet of Lierhand. The municipality of Groeneveld was split off from 't Woud in 1817, and only existed until 1855, when it became part of Hof van Delft.

Sint Maarten (West Frisian: Simmer) is a village in the Dutch province of North Holland. It is a part of the municipality of Schagen, and lies about 15 km north of Alkmaar. The village was first mentioned in 1289 as Niwelant. The current name is a reference to Martin of Tours. Sint Maarten developed in the 13th century along the West-Frisian sea dike. A church was built in 1462, but was destroyed in 1799. In 1875, a new church was built and demolished in 1960.Sint Maarten was home to 246 people in 1840. It was a separate municipality until 1990, when it was merged with Harenkarspel. Harenkarspel merged with Schagen in 2013.

Oudkarspel is a village in the Dutch province of North Holland. It is located in the municipality of Dijk en Waard, north of Noord-Scharwoude.
