Bartram's Garden

Pennsylvania's first congressional district includes all of Bucks County and a sliver of Montgomery County in southeastern Pennsylvania. It has been represented by Brian Fitzpatrick since 2019. The state congressional district map was redrawn by the Supreme Court of Pennsylvania in February 2018 after ruling the previous map unconstitutional due to partisan gerrymandering; the previous 1st district was geographically succeeded by the newly redrawn 2nd district which on November 6, 2018, elected Brendan Boyle, the incumbent from the 13th district. The new first district is similar to the previous eighth district, with the new boundaries going into effect for the 2018 elections and representation thereafter.Fitzpatrick, the incumbent from the previous 8th district, was elected on November 6, 2018, to the newly redrawn 1st district. As of 2022, it is one of nine districts that voted for Joe Biden in the 2020 presidential election while being held or won by a Republican.

Bartram Village is a small neighborhood in Southwest Philadelphia. It is located in the vicinity of South 56th Street and Lindbergh Boulevard. Bartram village borders Southwest Schuylkill to northeast, Elmwood Park to the west, Kingsessing to the north and the Schuylkill River to the southeast. The neighborhood takes its name from noted botanist John Bartram, whose historical home and gardens, Bartram's Garden, are located nearby. Bartram's Garden, also known as the John Bartram House, is a National Historic Landmark.Bartram Village is also the name of a housing project in the neighborhood located at 54th Street & Elmwood Avenue.

Wat Khmer Palelai Monastery is a Cambodian Theravada Buddhist temple located in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania. The monastery was founded in 1986 in a South Philadelphia row house. In 2010, the community acquired a 238,000-square-foot plot of land, where the current temple stands. The temple complex took nearly a decade to complete as the project was funded over time through donations from the local community.

The Newkirk Viaduct Monument (also, Newkirk Monument) is a 15-foot white marble obelisk in the West Philadelphia neighborhood of Philadelphia, Pennsylvania. Installed in 1839, it is inscribed with the names of 51 railroad builders and executives, among other information. Designed by Thomas Ustick Walter, a future Architect of the Capitol, the monument was erected by the Philadelphia, Wilmington and Baltimore Railroad to mark its completion of a bridge across the Schuylkill River and the first railroad line south from Philadelphia. The monument, which originally sat about 700 feet from the riverbank, was moved sometime after 1927 about 600 feet further inland, where it sat for decades by the main line that became Amtrak's Northeast Corridor. In 2016, it was moved to its present location, about 100 feet from the river's edge at the north end of the Bartram's Mile section of the Schuylkill River Trail.

Regent-Rennoc Court is a historic apartment complex located in the Southwest Schuylkill neighborhood of Philadelphia, Pennsylvania. The complex consists of nine buildings built in 1910, in the Renaissance Revival-style. They are large, six-unit buildings arranged in groups of three on either side of Regent Street. They are three-story buildings, constructed of brick and sit on Wissahickon schist foundations. They feature projecting arched center entrances and multiple porch levels.It was added to the National Register of Historic Places in 1985.

Philadelphia, Wilmington and Baltimore Railroad Bridge No. 1 was a swing steel through truss that spanned the Schuylkill River between Philadelphia, Pennsylvania's Kingsessing and Grays Ferry neighborhoods. Part of a long succession of ferry and bridge crossings at this location, the bridge was built in 1901 for the Philadelphia, Wilmington and Baltimore Railroad by American Bridge Company. Over the decades, ownership of the bridge passed to PW&B successor railroads: the Philadelphia, Baltimore & Washington Railroad, then to Penn Central, then to Conrail, which formally placed it out of operation in 1976. In 2017, Conrail conveyed the bridge to the City of Philadelphia, part of a plan to extend the multiuse Schuylkill River Trail. The bridge's truss and superstructure were demolished in August 2018, with the pilings spared to serve as a foundation for a planned bike-pedestrian bridge.

Kingsessing is a neighborhood in the Southwest section of Philadelphia, Pennsylvania, United States. On the west side of the Schuylkill River, it is next to the neighborhoods of Cedar Park, Southwest Schuylkill, and Mount Moriah, as well as the borough of Yeadon in Delaware County. It is roughly bounded by 53rd Street to the northeast, Baltimore Avenue to the northwest, Cobbs Creek and 60th Street to the southwest, and Woodland Avenue to the southeast.

Gray's Ferry Tavern (also known as Lower Ferry House, Gray's Tavern, Gray's Inn, Gray's Ferry Inn, Gray's Garden, Sans Souci, and Kochersperger's Hotel) was a restaurant and inn that operated in the 18th and 19th centuries in present-day Philadelphia, Pennsylvania. Set on the west bank of the Schuylkill River at the primary crossing for travel to and from points south of Philadelphia, the tavern hosted George Washington and many other famous people of its day.

S. Weir Mitchell Elementary School is a historic elementary school located in the Kingsessing neighborhood of Philadelphia, Pennsylvania. It is part of the School District of Philadelphia. The building was designed by Henry deCoursey Richards and built in 1915–1916. It is a four-story, seven bay, red brick building with terra cotta and granite trim in the Late Gothic Revival-style. It was erected above a raised basement. It features a projecting entrance bay with oversized arched surround, projecting secondary entrance bays, terra cotta quoining, and an arched gable parapet.The building was added to the National Register of Historic Places in 1986.

Gray's Ferry Bridge (more recently, Grays Ferry Bridge) has been the formal or informal name of several floating bridges and four permanent ones that have carried highway and rail traffic over the Schuylkill River in Philadelphia. The bridge today is a four-lane divided highway bridge, built in 1976, that carries Grays Ferry Avenue from the Grays Ferry neighborhood on the east bank, over the river and the Northeast Corridor railroad tracks, to the Southwest Philadelphia neighborhood of Kingsessing. In 1902, rail traffic was taken over by the adjacent Philadelphia, Wilmington and Baltimore Railroad Bridge No. 1, which in 2019 and 2020 is being rebuilt for use by cyclists and pedestrians traveling the Schuylkill River Trail.

Charles Y. Audenried Junior High School was a historic school building located in the Grays Ferry neighborhood of Philadelphia, Pennsylvania. It was designed by Irwin T. Catharine and built in 1930-1931. It was a three-story, 15 bay, brick building on a raised basement in the Colonial Revival-style. It featured two projecting entrances with stone surrounds, a central entrance with four Doric order columns, projecting brick pilasters, and a brick parapet. The listed building has been demolished and replaced with the modern Universal Audenried Charter High School. It was added to the National Register of Historic Places in 1988.

The Belmont Cricket Club was one of four chief cricket clubs in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania, that played from its 1874 founding in West Philadelphia until its disbanding in 1914. Bart King, arguably America's greatest cricketer during its 1890-1914 golden age, played for Belmont from 1893 to 1913. Another famous American cricketer, English-born Cecil Hurditch, played for Belmont in 1912 after he returned from playing for the Santa Monica Cricket Club in southern California. In 1913, Hurditch introduced soccer to the club members.
