Southport is a town in Chemung County, New York, United States. The population was 9,684 according to the 2020 census. The town is located in the southwestern corner of Chemung County and is southwest of the city of Elmira. It is part of the Elmira Metropolitan Statistical Area.

Ernie Davis Academy is the junior high school in Elmira, New York, United States. It occupies the building formerly used by the Elmira Free Academy, a high school, which merged with Southside High School to become Elmira High School in September 2014. It has 855 students in grades 7–8 with a student-teacher ratio of 13 to 1. According to state test scores, 18 percent of students are at least proficient in math and 22 percent in reading.The building used by the previous junior high school for students from the area north of the Chemung River, Ernie Davis Jr. High School, is now used by a charter elementary school.

The Southport Correctional Facility was an ultra-maximum-security, or "supermax", prison, run by the New York State Department of Corrections and Community Supervision. It was located in the town of Southport, in the Southern Tier of New York State, United States. It was rare for a prisoner to be sent directly to Southport from the outside; virtually all of its inmates were transferred there after committing serious disciplinary infractions at some other prison in the state. On occasion, however, a particularly notorious inmate was sent there for "protective custody"; that is to say, to prevent him from being attacked by other inmates. One example was convicted child-killer Joel Steinberg. The prison closed on March 10, 2022.

The district includes 480 principal structures over 25-30 blocks in a 77-acre (310,000 m2) district. The district is predominantly residential with only about 15 percent of the structures having commercial or mixed commercial / residential use. A full range of 19th and 20th century styles in domestic architecture is represented in the district.It was listed on the National Register of Historic Places in 1983.

The Elmira Coca-Cola Bottling Company Works is located at 415 West Second Street, Elmira, New York. It was built in 1939 in the Art Moderne style. The building was designed by architect Lucius Read White, Jr. The structure is significant for its architecture and its role in industry, and was added to the National Register of Historic Places in 1997.The building is no longer a bottling plant and now used by International Brotherhood of Electrical Workers Local 139.
