Byford railway station

Byford is a suburb on the south-eastern edge of Perth, Western Australia, within the Shire of Serpentine-Jarrahdale. The town has its origins in a township that was gazetted under the name "Beenup" in 1906. In 1920, the name of the township was changed to Byford.

Byford Secondary College is an Independent Public secondary school in Byford, a suburb 33 kilometres (21 mi) south-east of Perth, Western Australia.

Cohunu Koala Park is a wildlife sanctuary on 14 ha (35 acres) of bushland at Byford, near Perth, Western Australia.Its resident koalas are surrounded by neighbouring wombats, kangaroos, wallabies, quokkas, echidnas, dingoes, pigs, donkeys, ponies, llamas, alpacas, deers, ostriches, emus, owls, cockatoos, water birds, freshwater crocodiles and a couple of other animals too. Also found around the park are lifelike replicas of dinosaurs amongst other decorative sculptures.Lucille Sorbello & Nardino Sorbello established Cohunu Wildlife Sanctuary beginning in 1972 at 322 Mills Road East, Martin on approximately 40 acres (16 ha) surrounded by natural bushland in the Darling escarpment near Gosnells and was opened to visitors in mid 1975. The park's koala colony was established in 1982 with the arrival of four koalas from South Australia, and the facility was renamed Cohunu Koala Park in September 1991. In 2009, the park was moved to its current location at 103 Nettleton Road, Byford. Its koala colony now has over 25 koalas from both the northern koala (phascolarctos cinereus adustus) and the southern koala (phascolarctos cinereus victor) populations.Between 10 am and 4 pm daily, visitors to the park may be photographed cuddling a koala, at an additional charge. Visitors are also permitted to touch and hand feed various other park animals.A miniature railway built by volunteers runs around the park; it operates on most weekends and public holidays.On the 24th October 2021 two people broke into the park in the early hours of the morning where they proceeded to abduct a pregnant female guinea pig that was then drowned in the freshwater crocodile pond. The intruders also stole items from the park's utility sheds.

Darling Range is an electoral district of the Legislative Assembly in the Australian state of Western Australia. The district is based to the east and south-east of Perth.

Wungong (older spelling Wongong), pronounced is a semi-rural south-eastern suburb of Perth, Western Australia, located midway between Armadale and Byford and located in the local government area of the City of Armadale.

Darling Downs is an outer south-eastern suburb of Perth, Western Australia, within the Shire of Serpentine-Jarrahdale. The name, referring to the suburb's proximity to the Darling Scarp, was first used as an estate name in 1977, and adopted as a suburb name in 1997.

The Wungong Tunnel links the Wungong Dam to Perth, Western Australia's Integrated Water Supply System.It originates just west of Wungong Dam and runs through the granite Darling Scarp to the western portal in Rails Crescent, Wungong. Built by a joint Venture of Clough, Codelfa and Cogefur, and with a length of 3.7 kilometres (2.3 mi), it opened in 1982.

Australian Christian College – Darling Downs is a Christian co-educational school, located in Brookdale, a suburb of Perth, Western Australia. The school has grades ranging from Kindergarten to Year 8. The school is owned and operated by Christian Education Ministries Ltd and is a member of the Association of Independent Schools of Western Australia. The principal, Jacqui Burrage, previously worked in leadership positions at a number of Christian schools in Western Australia. Most students who attend the school reside in the southeast corridor of Perth, with a school bus service available.

The Armadale Reptile Centre is a reptile zoo (featuring a number of other animals) in Armadale, Western Australia that focuses on herpetology and wildlife endemic to Australia (with a few exotic reptile species as exception). Opened to the public in 1995, the Armadale Reptile Centre houses a large variety of mostly native reptiles and other wildlife with over 50 different reptile species on display, including a large female saltwater crocodile and various species of lizards, snakes and turtles, as well as other animals such as tree frogs, cockatoos, dingoes, emus, marsupials (including kangaroos), owls and wedge-tailed eagles. The centre is also used as a rescue and rehabilitation facility for wildlife that are sick or injured. Klaas and Mieke Gaikhorst built and own the centre, having worked with rescuing and rehabilitating injured or displaced reptiles (and other animals) for more than thirty years.

Hilbert is a suburb of Perth, Western Australia, located within the City of Armadale. This rural and semi-rural suburb is located on the city's fringe, and in the 2010s began to be subdivided for urban purposes. The name was derived from the Hilbert family who were dairy farmers within the area. A road was proposed through Wilhelm Hermann (known as Herman or Harry) Hilbert's property in 1899, and in 1966 the unconstructed road reserve was named "Hilbert Road". There is also a large wetland in the locality generally referred to as the Hilbert Road Swamp.The locality was formed from the suburb of Brookdale on 1 April 2008, and on 4 October 2011 the suburb's western boundary was amended to coincide with the centreline of Tonkin Highway.Hilbert is home to the popular Shipwreck Park, a $4.8million park that spans 6 hectares and features a 30 metre shipwreck-themed playground. The playground was designed in collaboration with the Touched By Olivia Foundation, the City of Armadale, local schools and community groups to ensure children of all abilities can play together, including those with physical disabilities, vision, hearing and mobility impairments, or spectrum disorders such as autism.In May 2023, a Retail Centre Development Application was lodged to bring a town centre to Hilbert, on Weatherly Way within Stockland's Sienna Wood community. In July 2023 Stage 1 Civil Works were completed.

Bedfordale is a semi-rural suburb in the south-east of Perth, Western Australia, located within the City of Armadale. Located approximately 40 km from Perth in the Darling Range, some of the local attractions include Churchman Brook Dam, Wungong Dam and the Elizabethan Pub. The area is popular for hiking and cycling. Being close to Armadale railway station provides easy access to the city by train. It was first named as a townsite in 1905.The area is named after Admiral Sir Frederick Denham Bedford (1838-1913), Governor of Western Australia from 24 March 1903 to 22 April 1909. Governor Bedford chose some of the older street names to commemorate several famous Admirals. The suburb hosts the Elizabethan Village which has full size replicas of Anne Hathaway's cottage and Shakespeare's Birthplace, built by British engineer Leo Fowler in the 1970s.
