Baroque fortifications in the Black Forest

Gersbach is a state-recognized resort town in the municipality of Schopfheim, a town in the district of Lörrach in Baden-Württemberg, Germany. Gersbach is situated in a mountain valley basin to the south from the eponymous river in the Black Forest at an altitude of 800–1170 m above sea level. The old town of Schopfheim is roughly 17 km away. The formerly independent village, together with the six associated hamlets (Fetzenbach, Gersbach-Au, Lochmühle, Metteln, Neuhaus, and Schlechtbach) forms one of Baden-Württemberg's largest Gemarkung, with an area of 2409 hectares.

The Rohrenkopf is a mountain, 1,169.8 m above sea level (NHN) high, in the Southern Black Forest in Germany. It rises within the parish of Gersbach, a village in the borough of Schopfheim.

Schweigmatt is a hamlet located in the southern Black Forest of Germany at an altitude of 780 metres. It belongs to the village of Raitbach and is part of the municipality of Schopfheim in the district of Lörrach. Schweigmatt lies beneath the 985 m peak of the Hohe Möhr, from which it is possible to see as far as the Swiss Alps and Jura Mountains across the Rhine River. This hamlet was first mentioned in documents in 1113, but gained international recognition only recently as the birthplace of actress Q'orianka Kilcher.

Hasel is a municipality in the district of Lörrach in Baden-Württemberg in Germany. The placename was first mentioned in a document dated 7 June 820 in which the monastery of St. Gallen lent its property in "Hasalaho" as a fief. In all probability the placename refers to a place of jurisdiction and execution of the Alamanni that was enclosed by hazel pales. The German word "Hasel" which is the placename means the same as the English "Hazel". It has been said that this is the location of The Dwarves' Cavern which was supposedly once home to many dwarves. This legend gives the cavern its name. The preceding statement may refer to the Erdmannshöhle where the legend is, however, not about dwarfs (which is "Zwerge" in German), but rather "Erdmännlein" which can be translated as "manikin of the earth" and which seem to have a different origin. It is, however, possible that the "dwarvers" have their origin in the "Erdmännlein".

The Erdmannshöhle is a stalactite or flowstone cave in the village Hasel between Schopfheim and Wehr, 20 km east of Lörrach in Baden-Württemberg in Germany.

The Hohe Möhr is a mountain, 983.6 m above sea level (NHN), in the Black Forest near Schopfheim in the German state of Baden-Württemberg.

Wehr is a town in the Waldshut district in Baden-Württemberg, Germany. It is situated 9 km north of Bad Säckingen, and 18 km east of Lörrach. Wehr is the home of two very old and large families: the Trefzgers and the Nagelins. It is also home to the Weck Jar company.
