It remained a separate municipality until 1985, when it became part of Vlist. The name is quite funny, because it sounds like "hast Recht", which means "you're right" in German.

Krimpenerwaard (Dutch pronunciation: [ˈkrɪmpənərˌʋaːrt]) is a municipality, a region and a former water board of the Netherlands. It is a rural area located in the east of the province of South Holland, just south of Gouda and east of the Rotterdam conurbation. It is bordered on the north by the river Hollandse IJssel, on the south by the river Lek and on the east by the stream Vlist.Krimpenerwaard obtains its name from the fact that "Krimp" used to mean a bend in a river and "Waard" is the Dutch word for an interfluvial area between the winter dikes of different river channels (in this case, the Lek and the Hollandse IJssel). There are other such waarden in this area. The Lopikerwaard lies to the east; the Zuidplaspolder to the west. The name Krimpenerwaard first appeared in the historical records in 944. The municipality is named after the region Krimpenerwaard and was formed by a merger of the municipalities of Nederlek, Ouderkerk, Vlist, Bergambacht and Schoonhoven on 1 January 2015.

Stein is a small village in the Dutch province of South Holland. It is a part of the municipality of Krimpenerwaard, and lies about 5 km east of Gouda. The statistical area "Stein", which can also include the surrounding countryside, has a population of around 1060.Stein was a separate municipality between 1817 and 1870, known as Land van Stein, when it became part of Reeuwijk. The former municipality of Vrijhoef en Kalverbroek was added to Land van Stein in 1827. The part of the former municipality that lay north of the railway line from Gouda to Woerden still is part of that municipality; the southern part belonged to Haastrecht, and since 1985 to Vlist (till 2015).

Bovenkerk is a village in the municipality of Krimpenerwaard in the province of South Holland, Netherlands. Bovenkerk was part of the municipality of Vlist until 1 January 2015, when it was absorbed in the newly-formed municipality of Krimpenerwaard. Vrijhoef en Kalverbroek is a former heerlijkheid (manor) and municipality in the Dutch province of South Holland. It was located about 3 km east of the city of Gouda, in the current municipality of Reeuwijk. The area of the former municipality is now almost completely covered by the lakes of the Reeuwijksche Plassen. According to the 19th-century historian A.J. van der Aa, the hamlets of Vrijhoef and Kalverbroek (or Kalverenbroek) originally were two separate small manors, but they were merged into one. The manor was property of the nearby city of Gouda between 1438 and 1848.Between 1811 and 1817, the heerlijkheid became part of the municipality of Stein; after that, it was a separate municipality until January 1, 1827, when it again was merged with Stein. In 1822, the municipality had 47 inhabitants; around the middle of the 19th century, this had fallen to 24 inhabitants (7 of which in Kalverbroek), in an area of 0.52 km2 (0.20 sq mi).Nowadays, most of the area is covered by two lakes: lake "Vrijhoef" and lake "Kalverbroek". Both lakes are much larger than the heerlijkheid they are named after.
