Zederik (Dutch pronunciation: [ˈzeːdərɪk] ) is a former municipality in the western Netherlands, in the province of South Holland. The municipality covered an area of 76.50 km2 (29.54 sq mi) of which 2.77 km2 (1.07 sq mi) is water. It had a population of data missing in 2021. The municipality of Zederik was formed on January 1, 1986, through the merger of the former municipalities of Ameide, Hei- en Boeicop, Leerbroek, Lexmond, Meerkerk, Nieuwland, and Tienhoven aan de Lek. Zederik merged with Leerdam and Vianen into the municipality of Vijfheerenlanden in the province of Utrecht on January 1, 2019. The municipality was named after the Old Zederik, a small canal running through its area. The population centres of Zederik consisted of Ameide, Hei- en Boeicop, Leerbroek, Lexmond, Meerkerk, Nieuwland, and Tienhoven aan de Lek.

Meerkerk is a village in the Dutch province of Utrecht. It is a part of the municipality of Vijfheerenlanden, and lies about 9 km north of Gorinchem. In 2001, the village of Meerkerk had 2281 inhabitants. The built-up area of the village was 0.71 km², and contained 818 residences. The statistical area "Meerkerk", which also can include the surrounding countryside, has a population of around 2310.

Achterdijk is a hamlet in the Dutch province of Utrecht. It is a part of the municipality of Vijfheerenlanden, and lies about 7 km northeast of Gorinchem. The name of the hamlet means "Back Dike"; it refers to the dike between Leerdam and Arkel. The hamlet was first mentioned in 1869. Achterdijk has no place name signs, and the postal authorities have placed it under Nieuwland. In 1840, Achterdijk was home to 42 people.

Leerbroek is a village in the Dutch province of Utrecht. It is a part of the municipality of Vijfheerenlanden, and lies about 9 km (6 mi) northeast of Gorinchem. Leerbroek was a separate municipality between 1817, when it was separated from Meerkerk, and 1986, when it merged with Zederik in the province of South Holland. When Zederik merged into the new municipality Vijfheerenlanden in 2019, it became a part of the province of Utrecht.

Geer is a hamlet in the Dutch province of Utrecht. It is a part of the municipality of Vijfheerenlanden, and lies about 9 km northeast of Gorinchem. The hamlet was first mentioned in 1874 as Geer (De), and means "tapering piece of land". The postal authorities have placed it under Nieuwland. In 1840, it was home to 138 people.

Arkel is a railway station, located in Arkel in the Netherlands. The station is located on the Qbuzz line between Dordrecht and Geldermalsen. It was opened on 1 December 1883, was closed on 15 May 1938 and was reopened on 10 June 1940. Originally, Arkel had two tracks, in the 1980s this was reduced to a single track. Train services are operated by Qbuzz. The station building is now in use as an office.

Arkel is a former municipality; in 1986 it became part of Giessenlanden.In 2017, the village of Arkel had 3.445 inhabitants. The built-up area of the village was 0.42 km² and contained 1.125 residences. The statistical area "Arkel", which also includes the surrounding countryside, has a population of around 3220. Though there are little places of cultural interest in Arkel, there is a 19th-century domed church and a 19th-century windmill.

In 2001, the village of Hoogblokland had 935 inhabitants. The built-up area of the village was 0.25 km², and contained 372 residences. The statistical area "Hoogblokland", which also can include the peripheral parts of the village, as well as the surrounding countryside, has a population of around 1100.Hoogblokland was a separate municipality until 1986, when it became a part of Giessenlanden.

Spijk is a village in the Dutch province of Gelderland. It is a part of the municipality of West Betuwe, about 3 km northeast of Gorinchem. Spijk was a separate municipality between 1817–1855, when it became part of Heukelum. At that time, it was still part of the province of South Holland.

The hamlet was first mentioned in 1333 as Middelcoep, and means "concession in the middle". Middelkoop has no place name signs, and the postal authorities have placed it under Leerbroek. In 1840, it was home to 298 people.

Broek is a hamlet in the Dutch province of Utrecht. It is a part of the municipality of Vijfheerenlanden, and lies about 11 km north of Gorinchem. Broek has no place name signs, and the postal authorities have placed it under Meerkerk. In 1840, it was home to 293 people. A part of the hamlet has been placed under Ameide and consists of about 10 houses.
