Arrondissement of Metz

The arrondissement of Metz-Ville is a former arrondissement of France in the Moselle department in the Lorraine region. In 2015 it was merged into the new arrondissement of Metz. It had 1 commune, and its population was 119,551 (2012).

École supérieure d'ingénieurs des travaux de la construction de Metz (ESITC Metz) a French engineering College.The School has been created in 1992 by Marcel Poinsignon at the request of construction companies. Located in Metz, the ESITC Metz is a private higher education institution of general interest recognised by the State. The school is a member of the Union of Independent Grandes Écoles (UGEI).

Georgia Tech Europe (GTE) is a campus of the Georgia Institute of Technology in Metz, France and is part of Georgia Tech's International Plan. GTE offers undergraduate and graduate programs in electrical and computer engineering, mechanical engineering, computer science, and liberal arts.

The Palais omnisport Les Arènes, often abbreviated as Les Arènes, is an indoor sports arena in Metz, France. It is the home venue of the Metz Handball team and the Open de Moselle men's tennis tournament, part of the ATP Tour 250 series of the ATP Tour. Currently the arena has a capacity of 4,500 seats.

The fortifications of Metz, a city in northeastern France, are extensive, due to the city's strategic position near the border of France and Germany. After the Franco-Prussian War of 1870, the area was annexed by the newly created German Empire in 1871 by the Treaty of Frankfurt and became a Reichsland. The German Army decided to build a fortress line from Mulhouse to Luxembourg to protect their new territories. The centerpiece of this line was the Moselstellung between Metz and Thionville, in Lorraine.

It is "a relic of the medieval fortifications, with two 13th c. round towers and two gun bastions of the 15th c." It is a monument historique of France (list number: PA00106837).

Metz-Ville station (French: Gare de Metz-Ville)is the main railway station serving the city of Metz, capital of Lorraine, France. Sometimes spoken of as the Station Palace as it displays the apartments of the German Kaiser Wilhelm II, Metz station has been registered as a Historic Monument since 15 January 1975. This designation gives legal protection to the station's facade, the roof, the departure hall, the honorary lounge, and the former station restaurant with its interior decorations.

The Laboratory of design, manufacturing and control (in French: Laboratoire de conception fabrication commande), also known as the LCFC, is a French laboratory of research located in Metz. It is under the authority of Arts et Métiers ParisTech. It is part of the Carnot Institute ARTS and currently employs more than 30 persons. It was created in 2009 from the division of the LGIPM, a laboratory specialized in industrial design and manufacturing. It is also part of the doctoral school 432 of Arts et Métiers ParisTech.

The Laboratory of study of microstructures, mechanics and material sciences (in French : Laboratoire d'étude des microstructures et de mécanique des matériaux), also known as the LEM3, is a French laboratory of research located in Metz. It is under the authority of Arts et Métiers ParisTech, University of Lorraine and ENIM. It is part of the Carnot Institute ARTS and currently employs more than 150 persons. It was created in 2011 from the merge of 2 CNRS laboratories, the LPMM and the LETAM. The LEM3 plays an important role in the competitiveness organization "Materialia" and in the new research institute M2P.

Notre-Dame de l'Assomption is a church situated on the Rue de la Chevre, formerly the Rue de la Cheuve, in the city of Metz in Lorraine, France. Administratively it is part of the Roman Catholic Diocese of Metz.

Eurométropole de Metz is the métropole, an intercommunal structure, centred on the city of Metz. It is located in the Moselle department, in the Grand Est region, northeastern France. It was created as a communauté d'agglomération in January 2014, and became a métropole in January 2018. Its area is 312.8 km2. Its population was 224,863 in 2019.
