Normanton on Soar (), formerly known as Normanton-upon-Soar and known locally as Normanton, is a village and civil parish in the Rushcliffe district of Nottinghamshire, England near the River Soar. This historic village is home to one of the last operating chain ferries in the country, the only lived in cruck building in Nottinghamshire and a 13th-century Grade I listed parish Church.

The Church of St. James is a parish church in the village of Normanton on Soar, Nottinghamshire. The Church was designated as a Grade I listed building on 13 October 1966, for being "of exceptional interest".

Zouch is a hamlet in south west Nottinghamshire, England. It is located between Hathern and Normanton on Soar and is situated by the River Soar, which marks the county boundary with Leicestershire.Most of the hamlet lies in the civil parish of Sutton Bonington, apart from Zouch Farm which falls within Normanton on Soar parish, and the part in Leicestershire which is in Hathern parish. The nearest town is Loughborough. The A6006 road passes through the hamlet and crosses the Soar on Zouch Bridge (alternatively "County Bridge" as it spans the county border). The elevation of Zouch is 30 metres (98 ft).There is a pub in the hamlet, the Rose and Crown, with one side of the pub on Main Street and the other on the bank of the Zouch Cut canal. On the far western end of the hamlet, on the Leicestershire side of Zouch Bridge, is the County Bridge Mobile Home Park, where tent pitching is available.

Sutton Bonington () is a village and civil parish lying along the valley of the River Soar in the Borough of Rushcliffe, south-west Nottinghamshire, England. The University of Nottingham has a 420 hectares (4.2 km2) site just to the north of the village: Sutton Bonington Campus. The parish covers some 2,183 acres (8.83 km2) and includes the hamlet of Zouch. The population at the 2011 census was 2,202, rising to 2,338 at the 2021 census. The River Soar is the county boundary with Leicestershire and approximately 2 miles (3.2 km) to the north-west, in Leicestershire, is the large village of Kegworth. The nearest town is Loughborough, some 5 miles (8.0 km) by road to the south, and the nearest village is Normanton on Soar.

St. Anne's Church is a parish church in the Church of England in Sutton Bonington, Nottinghamshire. The church is a 12th-century Grade II* Listed building.It is located off the Main Street, at the top end of St Anne's Lane, and near to the Midland Main Line which was constructed past the village in 1840. Sutton Bonington's village hall and library is situated on the lane opposite.

St. Michael's Church is a parish church in the Church of England in Sutton Bonington, Nottinghamshire. The church is a 13th-century Grade II* Listed building.

Dishley Grange is a house in Dishley, Leicestershire, just north-west of Loughborough on the A6 road. Dishley Grange was the home of the famous agriculturalist Robert Bakewell (1725–1795). However, the present building was rebuilt in 1845 and was grade II listed in 1984.

University Farm is a 445 hectare (4.45 km2) commercial research farm attached to the Sutton Bonington Campus of the University of Nottingham, England. It lies across the parishes of Sutton Bonington and Kingston on Soar. There are two further blocks of land in Clifton on the north bank of the River Trent and at Bunny Park in the village of Bunny. Both these block are several miles from the main campus.

Hathern is a village and civil parish in the Charnwood district of Leicestershire, England. The village itself is located in the north of the district, and is just north of Loughborough. It is served by the A6. The parish has a population of about 1,800. Nearby places are Dishley, Long Whatton, and Zouch, over the border in Nottinghamshire. Residents of the village have, in recent years, campaigned to prevent the green "wedge" separating Loughborough, Shepshed and Hathern from being built on. The village is home to the Swift Sock Factory, one of only a small number of independent sock manufacturers left in the UK.

Bishop's Meadow is a 21.8 hectare Local Nature Reserve on the northern outskirts of Loughborough in Leicestershire. It is owned and managed by Charnwood Borough Council.This area of grassland, swamp and fen has mature beech trees, a diverse flora, fungi and bryophytes. The River Soar runs along its northern boundary.There is no public access.

West Leake () is a small conservation village and civil parish in the Rushcliffe district of Nottinghamshire.

St Helena's Church, West Leake is a parish church in the Church of England in West Leake, Nottinghamshire. The church is Grade II* listed by the Department for Digital, Culture, Media and Sport as it is a particularly significant building of more than local interest. The grade II listed lychgate is possibly by the architect Temple Moore.
