Elkin is a town in Surry and Wilkes counties in the U.S. state of North Carolina, along the Yadkin River. Elkin shares its name with the surrounding township of Elkin Township. The population was 4,122 at the time of the 2020 census.

Chatham Manufacturing Mill was built by the Chatham Manufacturing Company. The former textile mill is located in Winston-Salem in North Carolina.

Chatham Manufacturing Company is an American textile brand founded in 1877 that has made automobile upholstery, jeans, and flannels. Its most famous product is the Chatham Blanket. It was the largest blanket manufacturer in the world at its height.

Gwyn Avenue–Bridge Street Historic District is a national historic district located at Elkin, Surry County, North Carolina. The district encompasses 124 contributing buildings and 1 contributing site in a predominantly residential section of Elkin. They were primarily built between about 1891 and 1955 and include notable examples of Queen Anne, Colonial Revival, and Bungalow / American Craftsman architecture. Notable buildings include the Elkin Presbyterian Church (1937, 1944, 1950, 1955, 1961), First Baptist Church (1955, 1968), Alexander Martin Smith House (1893–1897) designed by George Franklin Barber, the Gwyn-Chatham-Gwyn House (c. 1872, 1911, 1936), Richard Gwyn Smith House (c. 1918), and Mason Lillard House (c. 1910).It was added to the National Register of Historic Places in 2007.

They were primarily built between about 1890 and 1950 and include notable examples of Early Commercial and Bungalow / American Craftsman architecture. Notable buildings and structures include the Gwyn-Foard House (c. 1855), Hugh G. Chatham Bridge (1931), Liberty Tobacco Warehouse (c. 1920), Harris Building (1902), U.S. Post Office (1937) designed by the Office of the Supervising Architect under Louis A. Simon, former Elkin Town Hall (1938–1939) built by the Works Progress Administration, Dobbin's Store (c. 1940), and the Riverside Hotel (1915–1925).It was added to the National Register of Historic Places in 2000.

Elkin Creek is a 3.91 mi (6.29 km) long 4th order tributary to the Yadkin River in Surry and Wilkes Counties, North Carolina. This is the only stream of this name in the United States.

Cedar Point, also known as the Richard Gwyn House and Richard Gwyn Franklin House, is a historic home located at Elkin, Surry County, North Carolina. It was built about 1840, and is a two-story, three-bay, Greek Revival style frame I-house. It has a two-story rear ell and rests on a brick pier foundation. It features a one-story, hip-roofed front porch with overhanging boxed eaves. It was built by Richard Gwyn (1796-1881), known as "Elkin's Founding Father."It was listed on the National Register of Historic Places in 2003.There is also an interesting Indian rock located in the front yard (which can be seen from the road) which still contains an attached carved bowl. Jonesville, originally called Allen's Settlement, is the oldest town in Yadkin County, North Carolina, United States. The population was 2,285 at the 2010 census. The town grew by nearly 800 residents in 2001 when it merged with neighboring Arlington. Recognized as the Heart of the Yadkin Valley, Jonesville is a gateway to the Blue Ridge Mountains, the Yadkin Valley Heritage/Cultural Corridor and to local wineries in the Swan Creek AVA and the larger Yadkin Valley AVA, as well as offering access to the Yadkin river.

Elkin Township is one of fifteen townships in Surry County, North Carolina, United States. The township had a population of 6,283 according to the 2020 census. Geographically, Elkin Township occupies 21.3 square miles (55 km2) in southwestern Surry County. Elkin Township's southern border is the Yadkin River. The only incorporated municipality within Elkin Township is the Town of Elkin, the second largest municipality in Surry County.

Arlington was a town in Yadkin County, North Carolina, United States. The population was 795 at the 2000 census. The town was incorporated on July 23, 1930. It merged into its larger neighbor, Jonesville, after a vote on May 29, 2001. The two towns had a combined population of about 2,250 people.
