Czersk Castle

Czersk (Polish pronunciation: [t͡ʂɛrsk] ) is a settlement in the administrative district of Gmina Góra Kalwaria, within Piaseczno County, Masovian Voivodeship, in east-central Poland. It lies approximately 2 kilometres (1 mi) south-east of Góra Kalwaria, 19 km (12 mi) south-east of Piaseczno, and 33 km (21 mi) south-east of Warsaw. The village also lies on the Czersk Lake (size: 9 hectares), which is an oxbow lake of the Vistula. Czersk was an important settlement in the past and is one of the oldest Mazovian cities, famous for ruins of a medieval castle constructed in the late 14th century. It was a royal town of the Crown of the Kingdom of Poland in the past. In 1247–1526, it was the capital of the Duchy of Czersk, one of medieval Polish duchies. After incorporation of Mazovia into Poland (1526), the duchy was turned into the Czersk Land (see ziemia), part of Masovian Voivodeship (1526–1795). The Land of Czersk was divided into four counties - those of Czersk, Grójec, Garwolin (since 1539), and Warka. Czersk itself was the seat of castellans, who also were senators of the Polish–Lithuanian Commonwealth.

Góra Kalwaria (Polish pronunciation: [ˈɡura kalˈvarja]; "Calvary Mountain", Yiddish: גער, Ger) is a town on the Vistula River in the Masovian Voivodeship, in east-central Poland. It is situated approximately 35 kilometres (22 miles) southeast of Warsaw and has a population of around 12,109 (as of 2019). The town has strong religious significance for both Catholic Christians and Hasidic Jews of the Ger dynasty.

Gmina Góra Kalwaria is an urban-rural gmina (administrative district) in Piaseczno County, Masovian Voivodeship, in east-central Poland. Its seat is the town of Góra Kalwaria, which lies approximately 18 kilometres (11 mi) south-east of Piaseczno and 31 km (19 mi) south-east of Warsaw. The gmina covers an area of 145.11 square kilometres (56.0 sq mi), and as of 2006 its total population is 24,035 (out of which the population of Góra Kalwaria amounts to 11,130, and the population of the rural part of the gmina is 12,905).

Ostrówek [ɔsˈtruvɛk] is a village in the administrative district of Gmina Karczew, within Otwock County, Masovian Voivodeship, in east-central Poland. It lies approximately 10 kilometres (6 mi) south of Karczew, 14 km (9 mi) south of Otwock, and 30 km (19 mi) south-east of Warsaw.

Kosumce [kɔˈsumt͡sɛ] is a village in the administrative district of Gmina Karczew, within Otwock County, Masovian Voivodeship, in east-central Poland. It lies approximately 12 kilometres (7 mi) south of Karczew, 15 km (9 mi) south of Otwock, and 32 km (20 mi) south-east of Warsaw. As of 2007, the village had a population of approximately 280. From 1975 to 1998 Kosumce was in Warsaw Voivodeship. Voivodeship Road 799 runs through the village. Neighbouring villages include Dziecinów, Ostrówek and Piotrowice.

Łużyce [wuˈʐɨt͡sɛ] is the part of Dziecinów village, Gmina Sobienie-Jeziory, in Poland. From 1975 to 1998 this place was in Siedlce Voivodeship. It lies approximately 6 kilometres (4 mi) north-west of Sobienie-Jeziory, 16 km (10 mi) south of Otwock, and 33 km (21 mi) south-east of Warsaw. The name of the place (probably) comes from local Mazovian word "łurzyce" which means area located near the river ("urzecze" in Polish) and is not connected to the word Łużyce (which means Lusatia) in Polish. It means that etymologically correct spelling of the name of this part of the village is Łurzyce. The name Łużyce is present in official Polish National Register of Territorial Division (TERYT). From the mid-1970s until 1998, this area administratively belonged to the Siedlce Voivodeship.

In the village is Voivodship Road 801, Voivodship Road 799 and Voivodship Road 805 and the sports club Wisła Dziecinów. It lies near the Vistula river. From 1975 to 1998 the village was in Siedlce Voivodeship.
