O'Halloran Hill Recreation Park

Mitchell is a former electoral district of the House of Assembly in the state of South Australia. It was first created in the redistribution of 1969, taking effect at the 1970 election. Mitchell was replaced by Black at the 2018 election, resulting from the 2016 electoral redistribution.Mitchell was named after philosopher Sir William Mitchell. Mitchell was located in inner-south western Adelaide, and covered 26.8 square kilometres (10.3 sq mi) and encompassed the suburbs of Dover Gardens, Old Reynella, Reynella, Seacombe Gardens, Seacombe Heights, Seaview Downs, Sheidow Park, Sturt and Trott Park and parts of Darlington, O'Halloran Hill, Oaklands Park and Warradale. The suburbs contained within the seat in 2010 were completely different as recently as 1989. The 1989 seat centred on Park Holme, north-east of the current incarnation of Mitchell, where much of the seat of Elder is. The 1989 boundary bordered the 2010 boundary in the south-west and north-east respectively. Mitchell tended to be a marginal Labor-held seat. While Colin Caudell succeeded in winning the seat for the Liberal Party for the first time at the 1993 election, he was narrowly defeated by Kris Hanna at the 1997 election. Hanna markedly increased his majority at the 2002 election, but defected to the SA Greens in 2003. He subsequently left the Greens in February 2006, and won his seat at the 2006 election narrowly as an independent candidate on a 50.6 two-candidate vote, though Labor got a 65.2 percent two-party vote against the Liberals. Hanna failed in his attempts to retain the seat at the 2010 election, losing to Labor candidate Alan Sibbons. Hanna unsuccessfully contested the seat at the 2014 election. Liberal Corey Wingard won the seat with a 51.2 percent two-party vote which made it the most marginal seat in parliament. It was the first time Labor was in government with the Liberals winning Mitchell. At the 2018 state election, Wingard chose to contest the seat of Gibson, and was successful; and the seat of Black was won by David Speirs, the former member for Bright; both members of the Liberal Party.

Glenthorne National Park–Ityamaiitpinna Yarta is a national park in the southern Adelaide suburb of O'Halloran Hill, 16 km (9.9 mi) south of the city centre. The park opened to the public in November 2020, and as of 2021 O'Halloran Hill Recreation Park is in the process of transitioning to become part of it. It includes the nearby Glenthorne Estate, and will connect with other parks and parcels of land in Adelaide's south to form the Glenthorne Precinct. These include Hallett Cove Conservation Park, Marino Conservation Park, areas of the Field River Valley and the Happy Valley Reservoir.The Kaurna people are the traditional owners of the greater Adelaide region, including this area, and still maintain a deep relationship with Country, which they have done for tens of thousands of years through their customs and Tjukurpa. Tjukurpa, which includes cultural stories and lore, will profoundly influence the way the Glenthorne National Park-Ityamaiitpinna Yarta is managed.The park includes important greybox (a type of eucalypt grassy woodland, and more than 90 species of birds have been spotted within its boundaries, including: Adelaide rosella - Platycercusadelaidae Grey fantail - Rhipidura albiscapa Kookaburra - Dacelo novaeguineae Willie wagtail - Rhipidura leucophrys Yellow-tailed black cockatoo - Calyptorhynchus funereus Yellow-faced honeyeater - Lichenostomus chrysops

Black is a single-member electoral district for the South Australian House of Assembly. It was created by the redistribution conducted in 2016, and was contested for the first time at the 2018 state election.Black is named after Dorrit Black (Dorothea Foster Black, 1891–1951), a South Australian modern artist, best known for linocuts, oil and watercolour paintings.Black lies south-west of the Adelaide city centre and includes the suburbs of Darlington, Hallett Cove, Kingston Park, Marino, O'Halloran Hill, Seacliff, Seacliff Park, Seacombe Heights, Seaview Downs, Sheidow Park and Trott Park. At its creation, Black was projected to be notionally held by the Liberal Party with a swing of 2.6% required to lose it.: Appendix 12  The 2018 creation of Black replaced the electorate of Mitchell that was disestablished at the 2018 state election. Black does not extend as far north or south as Mitchell did, but extends west to the coast through part of what used to be Bright.

Seaview Downs is a suburb of Adelaide in the City of Marion. The southern part of the suburb contains the O'Halloran Hill Recreation Park.

Seacombe Heights is a suburb of Adelaide in the City of Marion. It gets its name from Seacombe on the Wirral Cheshire, where many settlers emigrated from. Area highlights include the Seacombe Heights Tennis Club on Grafton Street, where courts can be hired by the public. Seaview High School is located on a large land parcel within Seacombe Heights and features a large irrigated oval, popular with locals outside of school hours. Many Seacombe Heights locals enjoy nature walks in the O'Halloran Hill Conservation park.

Seacliff Park is a suburb of Adelaide partly in the City of Marion and the City of Holdfast Bay. The suburb is adjacent to South Brighton in the north, Seaview Downs to the east, Hallett Cove to the south, and Marino and Seacliff on its western side. The suburb is divided diagonally by Ocean Road, with the northern part of the suburb mainly residential, and the southern park partly occupied by a golf course and a quarry.Prior to the 1836 British colonisation of South Australia, the area was inhabited by the Kaurna people, who occupied the land from Cape Jervis in the south up the western side of the Fleurieu Peninsula, to Crystal Brook in the north, west to the Mount Lofty Ranges, across to Gulf Saint Vincent, including the Adelaide Plains and city of Adelaide.The Kaurna name for the area was Wita-wattingga, or Wita-wita, was the Kaurna name of an area on the north side of O'Halloran Hill, which was then covered in low woodland of Eucalyptus porosa and/or Eucalyptus odorata known as mallee peppermint gums. The forested area named thus included the north-western slopes at South Brighton and Seaview Downs, across to Seacliff Park, and probably also included the area across the hill nearly as far as the present Main South Road as well as westwards as far as the eastern slopes of Marino. The place name was recorded in 1837 as "Weta wertinga", although its meaning, "in the midst of peppermint gums" was only recorded later. The name may have been a generic name applied to other places with peppermint gums; a similar name, Witawatang, was also applied to an area near Rapid Bay.Seacliff Park Post Office opened on 15 January 1995, replacing the nearby South Brighton office.In the 2016 Australian census, there were 2,439 people living in Seacliff Park.

O'Halloran Hill is a suburb in the south of Adelaide, South Australia, situated on the hills south of the O'Halloran Hill Escarpment, which rises from the Adelaide Plains and located 18 km from the city centre via the Main South Road. The suburb is split between the Cities of Marion and Onkaparinga, and it neighbours Happy Valley, Hallett Cove, Trott Park and Darlington. It includes a large area of farmland and commercial vineyards known as the Glenthorne Estate.

Sheidow Park is a suburb in the south of Adelaide, South Australia. The suburb is approximately 22 kilometres (14 mi) from the city-centre and is situated on coastal hills above the Adelaide Plains. The size of Sheidow Park is approximately 3.5 square kilometres. It has 9 parks covering nearly 6.1% of total area. The predominant age group in Sheidow Park is 0–9 years. Households in Sheidow Park are primarily couples with children. In general, people in Sheidow Park work in a professional occupation.

Marino railway station is located on the Seaford line. Situated in the southern Adelaide suburb of Marino, it is 18.3 kilometres from Adelaide station. In addition to serving the hillside Marino community, the station provides the rest of Adelaide with public transport access to a host of local amenities such as the Marino Community Hall (20M) and the Historic Kingston House (500M). The sporting clubs Seacliff Hockey Club & Seacliff Tennis Club are also within walking distance from the station (800M). Brighton Caravan Park (750M) is a popular beachside Caravan and Campground within 10 minutes walk from the Station.

Kingston Historical House is a pioneer house found in Kingston Park, South Australia, a suburb of Adelaide, South Australia.

Trott Park is a suburb in the south of Adelaide, South Australia. It has a population of 3,503 people (2016 Census). It is surrounded in most part by open space: the O'Halloran Hill Recreation Park, and Roseworthy Park, a former CSIRO landhold. It is also bordered by Sheidow Park, Hallett Cove and O'Halloran Hill. The Onkaparinga TAFE and Southern Expressway are situated close to the suburb. The Coast to Vines rail trail passes through the suburb. Trott Park is in the City of Marion local government area, the South Australian House of Assembly electoral district of Black and the Australian House of Representatives Division of Kingston.

Kingston Park is a small beachside suburb, 17 kilometres (11 mi) south of the Adelaide city centre. Kingston Park is within the City of Holdfast Bay and flanked by the neighbouring suburbs of Marino to the south and Seacliff to the north and east. There is a Kaurna site of signficance, the freshwater spring known as Tulukudangga, which is part of the Tjilbruke Dreaming Track. There is also a coastal reserve, a caravan park and a kiosk. The plant life of the cliff face includes a number of endangered or vulnerable species.
