Great Ashby is a civil parish in Stevenage in the North Hertfordshire district, in the county of Hertfordshire, England. The name Great Ashby was coined in the 1990s to apply to an area of new housing development on the north-eastern edge of the urban area of Stevenage. The development was partly within the borough of Stevenage and partly in the district of North Hertfordshire. A Great Ashby civil parish was created on 1 April 2011 covering the parts of Great Ashby which were within the parish of Graveley in North Hertfordshire. The area of the parish was enlarged a year later on 1 April 2012 to also include an area from the parish of Weston in North Hertfordshire. The council for the parish is called Great Ashby Community Council.In the 2011 census, the population of Great Ashby was 5,701.

The Nobel School is a co-educational secondary school and sixth form located in Stevenage in the English county of Hertfordshire.

Marriotts School is a secondary school in Stevenage, Hertfordshire, England. The school was rebuilt along with Lonsdale School (for special needs children) after a grant from the government/council. Marriotts is situated on a site overlooking the Fairlands Valley. The school playing fields run along the east side of the Fairland Lakes, which offer a range of water-sport activities.

Aston End is a hamlet in Hertfordshire, England. It is in the civil parish of Aston. It features a pub and a butchers, as well as a few houses.

Rooks Nest House is a house on Weston Road, Stevenage, Hertfordshire. It was the childhood home of the author E. M. Forster (1879–1970) who described it in the novel Howards End. It is Grade I listed for its historical interest and literary associations. Forster's mother Lily, who was widowed, rented the property between 1883 and 1893. Mother and child had to leave, unwillingly, when the owners wished it vacated.

Holy Trinity Church is the parish church for the village of Weston in Hertfordshire. The church building stands to the south-east of the village on high ground, and is built of flint and coursed ironstone rubble. It was Grade I listed in 1968. In the churchyard is the supposed grave of the giant Jack o'Legs.

Barnwell School is a coeducational secondary school and sixth form that was established in 1959 and is situated in the south of Stevenage, Hertfordshire. Between 2002 and 2005 it was the most improved school in Hertfordshire and one of the most improved schools in England. The overall pass rate this year is 48 per cent for grades A to C — a one per cent increase on year before, but still below the national average by far.In September 2006 the school expanded by taking in the students from another nearby school that closed (Collenswood). As a consequence, the school now has two campuses: Barnwell Upper Campus (the original Barnwell site) and, less than a mile away, Barnwell Middle Campus (formerly the site of Collenswood School). The school was designated as a Business and Enterprise College in September 2004 due to having an emphasis on maths, business and IT.

Walkern is a village and civil parish in East Hertfordshire, England. It is about two miles (3 km) from Stevenage. The village has several shops, including a convenience store, a hair and beauty salon, a craft shop, a shop that features homestyle products, a tea shop, a drum shop, a petrol station and Walkern Gallery near the White Lion public house. Other pubs include the Yew Tree. The village also has a primary school, doctors' surgery, recreation ground and a range of seasonal clubs; according to the time of year there is cricket, football and many other clubs based in the Walkern Sports and Community Centre towards the end of the village near the War Memorial and opposite a former watermill.

St Nicholas' Church is an Anglican parish church in Stevenage, a town in Hertfordshire, England. It occupies a hilltop site above Old Stevenage. It is a Grade I listed building and is composed of a tower, entrance porch, nave, north and south aisles, choir, Lady chapel, Trinity chapel, and vestry.

Shephall (SHEP-all) is a neighbourhood of the new town of Stevenage in Hertfordshire. It was formerly a separate village and parish, being absorbed into Stevenage in 1953.

The Heathcote School was an 11-18 comprehensive school in Stevenage, Hertfordshire. The school was founded in the 1950s. It was awarded Specialist Engineering College (English specialist school) status. The school was situated in Shephall. Typically in the 1970s, 1980s and 1990s students would leave to work at British Aerospace, GEC Marconi, Ferranti or one of the other large engineering firms based in or around Stevenage. There were usually about 1000 pupils at the school. It had workshops for metalworking, carpentry, and cookery and science labs, all to encourage both boys and girls in the trade of engineering. In the mid 1980s a computer laboratory was built with around 20 RML480Z computers to encourage the learning of basic computer engineering both in hardware and software. The school had student government, the school council, which was established in 1969. Two representatives from each tutor group were elected to represent the views of the tutor group in the council meetings. In 2007 Hertfordshire County Council issued statutory notice for the closure of The Heathcote School in August 2012. The last intake for year 7 students was in 2008. Keystage 3 students transferred to other local schools in 2010. Keystage 4 students remained at the school until it closed in 2012.

Weston is a village and civil parish in the North Hertfordshire district of Hertfordshire, England. It is located around 4 miles north of Stevenage, 2.5 miles south of Baldock and the same distance south-east of Letchworth, although it lies in the Hitchin post town. The A1(M) motorway passes to the west and the A505 Baldock bypass to the north, in a cut-and-cover tunnel that passes through the Weston Hills. These hills were made famous by the Robin Hood-style character Jack o'Legs, who was allegedly buried in the village's church graveyard. Weston Road and the Village of Weston, both within Toronto, were named after this place.
