Lannock Mill is a Grade II listed tower mill at Weston, Hertfordshire, England which is derelict.

Holy Trinity Church is the parish church for the village of Weston in Hertfordshire. The church building stands to the south-east of the village on high ground, and is built of flint and coursed ironstone rubble. It was Grade I listed in 1968. In the churchyard is the supposed grave of the giant Jack o'Legs.

Clothall is a village and civil parish in the county of Hertfordshire, England, with a population of 358. It is situated 2.25 miles (3.62 km) south-east of Baldock, and is in the district of North Hertfordshire. At the 2011 Census the civil parish had a population of 150. The village contains the Church of St Mary the Virgin, which was built of flint and stone around 1350–70, though parts of the church are older, dating to the 12th century.

The Weston Hills Tunnel is a 230m twin road tunnel under the Weston Hills near Baldock in Hertfordshire. It was constructed as part of the A505 Baldock bypass. A public inquiry was held in 1995, and in 2002 the government granted permission to build the road. Construction started in April 2004 and the bypass and tunnels opened on 16 March 2006 The bypass as a whole, including the tunnel, cost £43 million.The tunnel itself was constructed using a cut and cover method, during which the hill was cut away and the concrete tunnel structure then put in place. The hillside was then re-filled in over the top - see Bypass Construction Gallery. The purpose of the tunnel at this position is to reduce the gradient of the road, and to preserve the visual line of the hills and provide crossing points for wildlife such as deer. The chalk cuttings for the tunnel have become a haven for butterflies which are native to the area.

Great Ashby is a civil parish in Stevenage in the North Hertfordshire district, in the county of Hertfordshire, England. The name Great Ashby was coined in the 1990s to apply to an area of new housing development on the north-eastern edge of the urban area of Stevenage. The development was partly within the borough of Stevenage and partly in the district of North Hertfordshire. A Great Ashby civil parish was created on 1 April 2011 covering the parts of Great Ashby which were within the parish of Graveley in North Hertfordshire. The area of the parish was enlarged a year later on 1 April 2012 to also include an area from the parish of Weston in North Hertfordshire. The council for the parish is called Great Ashby Community Council.In the 2011 census, the population of Great Ashby was 5,701.

Pryor's Wood is an 8.7-hectare (21-acre) nature reserve in Great Ashby, near Stevenage in Hertfordshire. It was formerly managed by the Herts and Middlesex Wildlife Trust (HMWT). In February 2016 HMWT announced that three sites, Barkway Chalk Pit, Hill End Pit and Pryor's Wood, which HMWT managed on behalf of their owner, North Hertfordshire District Council, were to return to Council management as the Trust was no longer able to meet the cost.The site is mainly oak woodland but in some areas there is hazel coppice and hornbeam, with ground flora of bluebells and dog's mercury. There are many muntjac and fallow deer, and birds include sparrowshawks.There is access from and Gresley Way and Great Ashby District Park.

The Knights Templar School is a co-educational secondary school with academy status located in the market town of Baldock in North Hertfordshire, England. In a February 2006 Ofsted report, the school was described as "outstanding", one of only eight secondary schools in Hertfordshire to be so recognised. It retained its "outstanding" status following a further Ofsted inspection in February 2009. The Knights Templar School gained academy status on 1 April 2011. Following an Ofsted inspection in October 2012 the school was categorised as "good" against a newer, far more demanding Inspection framework. In September 2019 the school celebrated its 80th anniversary.

Baldock Town Hall is a municipal building in the High Street, Baldock, Hertfordshire, England. The structure, which now operates as an arts and heritage centre, is a locally listed building.

The Church of St Mary the Virgin is a parish church of the Church of England in Baldock in Hertfordshire. Dedicated to the Virgin Mary, the original church on the site dated to about 1150 and was built by the Knights Templar before being largely rebuilt in about 1330 by the Knights Hospitaller. It is a Grade I listed building.

Rooks Nest House is a house on Weston Road, Stevenage, Hertfordshire. It was the childhood home of the author E. M. Forster (1879–1970) who described it in the novel Howards End. It is Grade I listed for its historical interest and literary associations. Forster's mother Lily, who was widowed, rented the property between 1883 and 1893. Mother and child had to leave, unwillingly, when the owners wished it vacated.

Baldock ( BAWL-dək) is a historic market town in the North Hertfordshire district of Hertfordshire, England. The River Ivel rises from springs in the town. It lies 33 miles (53 km) north of London and 14 miles (23 km) north northwest of the county town of Hertford. Nearby towns include Royston to the northeast, Letchworth and Hitchin to the southwest and Stevenage to the south.

The Traveller Movement (TM) is a charity based in the United Kingdom that supports the Gypsy, Roma and Traveller (GRT) community and challenge discrimination against GRT people.TM was founded in 1999 as a community organisation to combat the "gap in service provision and the marginalisation of the Irish Traveller community in Britain".The charity is currently led by Yvonne MacNamara who was appointed CEO in 2008. The TM and other claimants took JD Wetherspoon PLC to court following an incident in 2011 in which members of the Irish Traveller and Romany Gypsy community were refused entry to a Wetherspoons pub. After legal proceedings lasting over three years, Wetherspoons was judged to have discriminated against the claimants on racial grounds and were required to pay compensation. The Community Law Partnership, in its summary of the legal case, stated that:This is an extremely important Judgment on the question of race discrimination as it applies to Irish Travellers and Romani Gypsies especially in confirming that an organisation can take a claim and that non-Gypsies and Travellers who are discriminated against because of "association" with Gypsies and Travellers can also take a claim.The charity also campaigns to encourage GRT people to vote in elections, to record the number of GRT people involved in public institutions such as the NHS and justice system, and against hate crimes against GRT people. The TM aims to improve reporting of hate crimes against GRT people, and has received significant media coverage for drawing attention to incidents of race hatred against GRT people. In one such hate crime incident, Reading University was forced to apologise after students organised a 'pikey night' which the TM criticised as being discriminatory and offensive to GRT people. TM CEO Yvonne MacNamara stated that "The term 'pikey' is widely recognised as a derogatory term for Gypsies and Travellers, and there is no place for it in an institution that should provide a safe and nurturing environment for all students, regardless of their race or ethnicity".The TM challenged Ofcom and Channel 4 over its advertising of the programme My Big Fat Gypsy Wedding. According to The Guardian, "The charity had claimed that the Channel 4 broadcasts of Big Fat Gypsy Weddings and Thelma's Gypsy Girls had depicted children in a sexualised way and portrayed men and boys as feckless, violent and criminal." Ultimately the complaint was rejected by the High Court.In 2017, the TM successfully persuaded the UK Ministry of Justice to introduce ethnic monitoring of GRT people in the youth justice system.In 2022, the TM campaigned against the proposed Police, Crime, Sentencing and Courts Bill, and has called on the streaming service Netflix to remove anti-Roma jokes made by Jimmy Carr.
