Westwell is a village and relatively elevated civil parish with a population of 740 (2001), centred 4 miles (6 km) north of Ashford in Kent, England, in the Borough of Ashford. The Pilgrims' Way runs close to the village on the Downs and was travelled by pilgrims on their way to Canterbury. The M20 motorway and High Speed 1 pass through the long south-west outskirts of the parish.

It is also a Local Nature Reserve, and is part of the 86-hectare (210-acre) Hothfield Heathlands nature reserve owned by Ashford Borough Council and managed by Kent Wildlife Trust.

Charing Beech Hangers is a 52.6-hectare (130-acre) biological Site of Special Scientific Interest north of Ashford in Kent.This steeply sloping site has mature beech and oak, and the ground flora is varied with some uncommon species. Invertebrates include the rare slug limax tenellus and several scarce moths.The North Downs Way runs along the south side of the site.

It is owned by Ashford Borough Council and managed by Kent Wildlife Trust.This site has acid grassland, which is nationally rare, and mature woodland. There are also pools which have water violets, great crested newts and grass snakes.There is access from Warren Lane.

The parish is split between the ancient village of Great Chart and the modern Singleton neighbourhood on the western outskirts of Ashford. The village centre of Great Chart is 2 miles (3.2 km) from the town centre. In 1961 the parish had a population of 969.

Great Chart with Singleton is a civil parish in the Ashford district of Kent, England. The parish population is mostly concentrated in the ancient village of Great Chart and the modern Singleton housing development, both located in the eastern part of the parish, near the town of Ashford. Singleton accounts for about 80% population of the entire parish and is directly adjacent to Ashford. The village of Great Chart is located to the west of Singleton, about two miles (3.2 km) from the centre of Ashford. The remaining area of the parish is largely agricultural, with several farms. Chilmington Green is also included in the civil parish. The medieval parish church is dedicated to St Mary; there is also Grace Fellowship (an independent evangelical church and member of the FIEC Fellowship of Independent Evangelical Churches) which meets 10:30am on Sunday mornings at the old Methodist church building formally known as St John's. The historic Godinton House and Gardens are located in the north part of the parish. The Parish also contains the Singleton Environment Centre, and the Ashford Community Woodland, both popular local attractions and important areas of conservational activity. The parish was formed on 1 April 1987 from part of the parish of Great Chart and part of the unparished area of Ashford.
