Great Chart

Great Chart with Singleton is a civil parish in the Ashford district of Kent, England. The parish population is mostly concentrated in the ancient village of Great Chart and the modern Singleton housing development, both located in the eastern part of the parish, near the town of Ashford. Singleton accounts for about 80% population of the entire parish and is directly adjacent to Ashford. The village of Great Chart is located to the west of Singleton, about two miles (3.2 km) from the centre of Ashford. The remaining area of the parish is largely agricultural, with several farms. Chilmington Green is also included in the civil parish. The medieval parish church is dedicated to St Mary; there is also Grace Fellowship (an independent evangelical church and member of the FIEC Fellowship of Independent Evangelical Churches) which meets 10:30am on Sunday mornings at the old Methodist church building formally known as St John's. The historic Godinton House and Gardens are located in the north part of the parish. The Parish also contains the Singleton Environment Centre, and the Ashford Community Woodland, both popular local attractions and important areas of conservational activity. The parish was formed on 1 April 1987 from part of the parish of Great Chart and part of the unparished area of Ashford.

Singleton is a suburb of Ashford in Kent, South East England, first developed in the 1980s. Although Singleton forms a contiguous urban area with the large town of Ashford to its east, it is formally a part of Great Chart with Singleton civil parish (Where the population is included).

Ashford Community Woodland is a 13.8-hectare (34-acre) Local Nature Reserve on the western outskirts of Ashford in Kent. It is owned and managed by Ashford Borough Council.Most of this broadleaf was planted in 1985, and there is also rough grassland and scrub. Birds include the endangered skylark and yellowhammer and there butterflies such as marbled whites and small skippers.There is access from roads including Bucksford Lane.

Chilmington Green was a hamlet on the edge of the Kentish Weald comprising 10 listed buildings. It is south-west of the town of Ashford. The population at the 2011 Census was included in the civil parish of Great Chart with Singleton. In 2014, Ashford Borough Council approved plans for a new town of up to 5,750 houses plus a countryside park, a secondary school, four primary schools, a supermarket and a new high street and market square on 1,000 acres of agricultural land around the hamlet. Chilmington Green is now part of the new South of Ashford Garden Community in Ashford, Kent. The development will create a thriving community in the heart of Kent and include a total 5,750 high-quality homes, set to be built over the next 20 years. Chart Leacon Traction and Rolling Stock Maintenance Depot was at one time a railway depot located in Ashford, Kent, England. The depot was situated 1.5 mi (2.4 km) to the west of Ashford International station on the south side of the line to Pluckley railway station.The depot code is AF.

Godinton (sometimes known as Godinton Park) is a suburb of Ashford, Kent in England, with its stately home Godinton House within its outskirts. Godinton is located between Great Chart, Hothfield and the town of Ashford proper. The Orpington suburb of Goddington is named (indirectly) after the village, as lands near Orpington were owned by Godinton-based Simon de Godyngton in the 13th century.

The John Wallis Church of England Academy is a mixed all-through school with academy status in Ashford, Kent. It was known as Christ Church Church of England High School. On 1 September 2010 it became an academy, sponsored by the Diocese of Canterbury, Benenden School and Canterbury Christ Church University. The school specialises in Maths and Computing and is named after Ashford-born mathematician John Wallis. The school officially became a 3-19 academy on 31 August 2012, educating pupils of primary and Secondary school ages, as well as a sixth form provision. The school holds places for 1400 students aged 3–19.

Ashford College is a further education college in Ashford, Kent founded in August 2014. It has been run by EKC Group since April 2020, when it was acquired from the West Kent and Ashford College corporation. Susan Bonett became Principal of the College in 2021, replacing Victoria Copp-Crawley. Its campus is situated on Elwick Road with work to expand the facilities beginning in 2022 after receiving substantial government funds.The college offers full and part-time qualifications, from vocational BTEC and NVQ Diplomas, to Access to HE courses, Apprenticeships and Higher Education programmes. The college is also an early pioneer of the T Level qualifications, with the first courses running from September 2022.The campus has a multi-media learning resource centre, engineering workshops, photography studios and darkrooms as well as commercial hair and beauty salons offering treatments to students, staff and the general public. Ashford College relocated from its original location on Jemmett Road to Elwick Road in September 2017 after a £26 million construction project. The current campus accommodates over 1000 students but will cater for an additional 250 once Phase 2 is built. A state-of-the-art recording studio was launched in June 2018, available to students and public hire. The 40-channel facility was officially opened by Eastenders star Shaun Williamson.

Stubbs Cross is a hamlet in the civil parish of Kingsnorth near Ashford in Kent, England. The area runs from a cross road at Ashford Road that leads to Hamstreet, through to the next T Junction via Magpie Pie Hall Road, leading to but finishing at the road known as Tally Ho Road. Magpie Hall Road (Stubbs Cross) has approximately 55-60 houses which sit either side of the road. The road is approximately 1.4 km in length with smallholdings and farmed fields on each side.

Royal Air Force Ashford or more simply RAF Ashford is a former Royal Air Force Advanced Landing Ground in Kent, England. The landing ground is located approximately 3 miles (4.8 km) west of Ashford just south of the A28 near the junction with Old Surrenden Manor Road; about 50 miles (80 km) southeast of London. Opened in 1943, Ashford was one of several prototypes for the temporary Advanced Landing Ground airfields built in France after D-Day, required as the Allied forces moved east across France and Germany. It was used by British, Dominion and the United States Army Air Forces. It was closed in September 1944. Today the airfield is a mixture of agricultural fields with few recognisable remains.
