The corporate headquarters is located in Coral Gables, Florida, and has facilities throughout Dade County, into the Florida Keys, and in southern Broward County. Baptist Hospital is the largest faith-based non-profit organization hospital in the Miami area, handling a volume of over 100,000 patients a year. The hospital attracts international patients from the Caribbean, Central America and South America. Baptist Hospital is the eleventh hospital in the United States to receive the ”Magnet” of excellence in nursing. The hospital is currently celebrating its 50th year in operation. The Department of Justice (DOJ), on behalf of the Office of Inspector General (OIG), agreed to accept $7,775,000 as a settlement amount after Baptist admitted to violations of the federal physician self referral law (the "Stark Law"). Ranked #1 in Miami-area hospitals in the 2015-16 U.S. News & World Report survey. In December 2016, another one of its affiliates, South Miami Hospital, paid $12 million to settle Medicare fraud charges.

The Falls is an open-air shopping mall in Kendall, Florida. The mall has 111 upscale stores. The mall's anchor store is Macy's. Bloomingdale's was an anchor at this mall but closed on March 20, 2020, and it was replaced by Life Time Fitness center, which opened on August 4, 2023. This mall also features a movie theater, which is called Regal Entertainment Group (United Artists Falls 12), and is currently managed and 50% owned by the Simon Property Group.

TERRA Environmental Research Institute is a secondary school in Miami, Florida, United States that opened in 2009. It is a LEED certified school. This school has three magnet academies: Biomedical Research, Robotics & Engineering, and Environmental Research. Students have the option of supplementing their academy in the sophomore and junior year with the AP Capstone Program. The school was built to continue research while benefiting the environment. It offers many advanced programs, with some freshmen already being enrolled in Chemistry and Pre-Calculus the opening year.

Howard was a predominantly low income African-American neighborhood of Kendall, an unincorporated community and CDP located in Miami-Dade County, Florida, United States. It is located just west of downtown Pinecrest, and just north of The Falls, a shopping mall.

The 1986 FBI Miami shootout occurred on April 11, 1986, in Miami-Dade County, Florida, U.S. (the specific area was incorporated as Pinecrest in 1996), when a small group of field agents for the FBI attempted to apprehend William Russell Matix and Michael Lee Platt, who were suspected of committing a series of violent crimes in and around the Miami metropolitan area. Although they had partially surrounded the suspects after maneuvering them off a local road, the agents involved quickly found their firepower was outmatched by the weapons which Matix and Platt had in their vehicle. During the gun battle which ensued, Platt in particular was able to repeatedly return fire despite sustaining multiple hits. Two Special Agents died from their wounds, while five other agents were injured by gunfire. The shootout ended when both Matix and Platt were killed. The incident is infamous as one of the most violent episodes in the history of the FBI and is often studied in law enforcement training. The scale of the shootout led to the introduction of more effective handguns, primarily switching from revolvers to semi-automatics, in the FBI and many police departments around the United States.

Coral Reef Senior High School is a secondary school located at 10101 S.W. 152nd Street in Richmond Heights, Florida, United States. The principal is Nicole Bergé-MacInnes. Coral Reef is locally known as "Miami's Mega Magnet School" since it offers six different magnet programs. According to Newsweek's list of the 1,000 Top U.S. Schools in 2008, the school was ranked at 19th in the nation, making it 4th in the state of Florida at the time. In 2007, 2006 and 2005, it had ranked 22nd, 29th and 13th, respectively. This ranking is based on a ratio devised by Jay Mathews, which takes the number of Advanced Placement or International Baccalaureate tests taken by all students at a school in that school year and divides it by the number of graduating seniors. Coral Reef is currently ranked No.134 of the top high schools in the nation.
