Waterloo is an inner-city suburb of Sydney, New South Wales, Australia. Waterloo is surrounded by the suburbs of Redfern and Darlington to the north, Eveleigh and Alexandria to the west, Rosebery to the south, and Moore Park, Zetland, and Kensington to the east.

Redfern Oval is an Australian football ground, in the Sydney suburb of Redfern, New South Wales, Australia. The South Sydney Rabbitohs Rugby League Football Club played at Redfern Oval between 1948 and 1987. Rabbitoh supporters often refer to Redfern Oval as "The Holy Land".

Redfern Park is a heritage-listed park at Elizabeth, Redfern, Chalmers, and Phillip Streets, Redfern, City of Sydney, New South Wales, Australia. It was designed by Charles O'Neill. It was added to the New South Wales State Heritage Register on 21 September 2018.

The Rachel Forster Hospital for Women and Children opened on 3 January 1922 in Redfern (an inner suburb of Sydney, Australia) as the 'New Hospital'. In 1925 the hospital was renamed after Baroness Rachel Forster, the wife of the then Governor-General of Australia, Henry Forster, 1st Baron Forster. Initial goals were to serve as a training hospital for female doctors and to serve women and children. It later grew to include specialised clinics and a breast cancer research centre.The hospital started admitting men in 1967.The hospital faced closure in the mid 1990s and services were transferred to Royal Prince Alfred Hospital by mid 2002.In 2013, City of Sydney councillor Irene Doutney raised strong concerns about the proposed redevelopment of the site, suggesting that most of the hospital would be demolished apart from the eastern facade and the colonnades at the front entrance. She suggested that the hospital had been left to "demolition by neglect", and that in the new development "They’re going to keep the minimum amount of heritage possible then bang a new building down. It's not adaptive re-use at all, it's demolition."In December 2014, The Daily Telegraph ran a photo piece documenting the deteriorating and vandalised state of the hospital despite its former significance, and referring to Doutney's 2013 concerns about the site falling victim to "demolition by neglect."

Yiu Ming Temple (Chinese: 要明廟) is a heritage-listed Chinese temple at 16-22 Retreat Street, Alexandria, City of Sydney, New South Wales, Australia. Built in 1908–9, Yiu Ming Temple is one of the oldest surviving Chinese temples in Australia and a globally rare intact example of the traditional Chinese village temple form. While commonly known as the "Yiu Ming Temple" (after the names of two towns in Guangdong province in China, where the community that founded the temple came from), its formal name is Hong Sheng Gong or Hung Sheng Gong (Chinese: 洪聖宮), which indicates that it is a Hung Shing Temple. It is also sometimes known as Yiu Ming Hung Fook Tong Temple(Chinese: 要明洪福堂), which is strictly the name of the previous temple used by the same community. It was added to the New South Wales State Heritage Register on 24 September 1999.

The St. Maron's Cathedral, also called St Maroun’s Cathedral, is a Maronite rite Eastern Catholic Church cathedral church, located in Redfern, in Sydney, New South Wales, Australia. It is the main temple of the Maronite Catholic Eparchy of Saint Maron of Sydney (Eparchia Sancti Maronis Sydneyensis Maronitarum) which was created by Pope Paul VI in 1973 through the papal bull, Illo fretis Concilii. The administration of the Eparchy is overseen by the Roman Catholic Archdiocese of Sydney. The cathedral is the seat of Epoch Antoine-Charbel Tarabay, OLM and religious services are delivered in English and Arabic.

It was the seat of the Municipality of Redfern from 1870 to 1948. It stands at 73 Pitt Street, Redfern.

The precincts are linked by Ebsworth Street, Sydney’s first new high street in a century, and Zetland Avenue west, a new tree-lined boulevard inspired by avenues in Manhattan with a long row of aligned traffic lights.The Green Square Town Centre is undergoing one of the largest urban renewal projects undertaken in Australia. The urban renewal project, spanning 278 hectares, received criticism for having population peak at around 60,000 residents and 21,000 workers by 2030.However, this level of population density would not rank in the top 200 densely populated districts in the world. At 21,500 residents per square kilometre in the year 2030, Green Square's population density would be approximately one-third of Yorkville on the Upper East Side of Manhattan at over 60,000 residents per square kilometre, one-half of the Roquette district in Paris at over 40,000 residents per square kilometre, and in line with Tribeca or Midtown Manhattan at approximately 20,000 residents per square kilometre.
