Yokohama Ma Zu Miao

Yokohama Chinatown (横浜中華街, Yokohama chūkagai, Chinese: 橫濱中華街) is located in Yokohama, Japan, which is located just south of Tokyo. It is about 160 years old, with a population of about 3,000 to 4,000. Today, only a few Chinese people still live there, most being from Guangzhou (Cantonese people). Yokohama Chinatown is the largest Chinatown in Japan, larger than both Kobe Chinatown and Nagasaki Chinatown. There are roughly 250 Chinese-owned or themed shops and restaurants scattered throughout the district, with the highest concentration centered on a 300 m2 (3,200 sq ft) area.

Motomachi (元町) is a district of Naka Ward in Yokohama, Japan, located immediately west of Yamate and east of Chinatown. It consists mainly of the Motomachi Shopping Street, a five-block long stretch of boutiques and shops, well known in Japan for its cosmopolitan atmosphere, original fashion, and Western influence.

Heichinrou (Kanji: 聘珍樓, Hiragana: へいちんろう, Chinese: Pìn-zhen-lou), is a Chinese restaurant located in the Chinatown of Yokohama, Japan. It is privately held and is the oldest operating Chinese restaurant in Japan. The Zhang (張) family first started the restaurant and operated for it for two generations, then the Bao (鮑) family for three generations until Tatsuo Hayashi (林達雄) took over. Today his son, Yasuhiro Hayashi (林康弘) operates as the seventh president. Heichinrou Japan and Heichinrou Hong Kong are separate entities with no financial association but both represented by Yasuhiro Hayashi. The three Chinese characters of Heichinrou, (聘珍樓), means “a place welcoming distinguished, good, and wonderful people.” The logo was created by Alan Chan in 1988, presenting a basket filled with peaches, lily bulbs, lotus roots, laichees, bergamots and pomegranates, which represents longevity, forever love, good harvest, wealth, health, and children accordingly. In 2009 “A Grand Exposition for Yokohama's 150th Year” took place due to 150th Anniversary of Yokohama, and Yokohama Archives of History edited and published “Yokohama Chinatown 150th Year.” An article which featured Heichinrou revealed that the restaurant was found in 1884 and that it was one of two stores which still remain on the same site with same name today, therefore, the establishment date was modified from 1887 to 1884 in year 2009. Heichinrou was featured on the Japanese television series Iron Chef, with its chefs competing against Chen Kenichi (陳健一). Chen managed to defeat two of their head chefs before losing to the very famous Heichinrou's grand chef Xie Huaxian (謝華顕). Xie Huaxian was once on the worldwide TV series Yan Can Cook when it featured Heichinrou. During the show, Xie Huaxian was introduced by the host Martin Yan as the greatest Chinese Chef in our time. Xie was the acting Executive Grand Chef of Heichinrou Group from 1981 to 2009. The successor of Xie in Heichinrou Japan now is Hideyuki Nishizaki (西崎英行), the first Japanese national appointed as a Head Grand Chef of Heichinrou. On June 4, 2022, Heichinrou began bankruptcy proceedings at the request of creditors, and was applying to the court for liquidation.

The Yokohama Overseas Chinese School (YOCS) is a Republic of China-oriented Chinese international school in Naka-ku, Yokohama, Japan. It serves elementary through senior high school. As of 2010 Shih Huei-chen (施惠珍 Shī Huìzhēn) is the president of the school.

Motomachi-Chukagai Station (元町・中華街駅, Motomachi-Chūkagai-eki) is an underground railway station on the Minatomirai Line subway in Naka-ku, Yokohama, Kanagawa Prefecture, Japan, operated by the third-sector railway operating company Yokohama Minatomirai Railway Company. It is numbered "MM06", and its official name, as shown on signage in the station, is "Motomachi-Chūkagai Station (Yamashita-kōen)" (元町・中華街駅（山下公園）, Motomachi-Chūkagai-eki Yamashitakōen) with the sub-name (Yamashita-kōen, referring to Yamashita Park) in parentheses, although the use of this full name is limited.

The Hotel New Grand (ホテルニューグランド) (JASDAQ: 9720) is a historic hotel in Yokohama, Japan, overlooking Yamashita Park. It opened in 1927, four years after the Great Kantō earthquake devastated much of the city. The hotel was used as accommodation by American troops during the occupation of Japan following World War II; one of the hotel suites is set aside and maintained just as it was furnished when General Douglas MacArthur stayed there, his first night in Japan during the occupation. The hotel is believed to be the place where the famous yoshoku dish naporitan was invented by a head chef. In 1991, an eighteen-story tower was built as an expansion of the hotel.

Yokohama Marine Tower (横浜マリンタワー, Yokohama Marin Tawā) is a 106 metres (348 feet) high lattice tower with an observation deck at a height of 100 metres in Naka Ward, Yokohama, Japan. The light characteristic is marked by a flash every twenty seconds, whereby the light's colour is alternating red and green. Originally, at night, the tower shaft itself was lit green and red according to its markings, but now, after the reopening in May 2009, the lights are white.

Ferris University (フェリス女学院大学, Ferisu Jogakuin Daigaku, "Ferris Women's University") is a private women's college in Yokohama, Kanagawa, Japan. It is a part of Ferris Jogakuin (学校法人フェリス女学院). The predecessor of the school was founded by American Presbyterian missionaries in 1870 with the assistance of James Curtis Hepburn, primarily to teach the English language and western cultural values to women. The male counterpart of the school later became Meiji Gakuin University. It was chartered as a junior college in 1950 and became a four-year college in 1965. The school currently has two campus locations: the main Ryokuen campus in Izumi-ku, Yokohama and a subsidiary Yamate campus for 3rd and 4th year music students at Naka-ku, Yokohama. Composed mainly of the departments of Humanities, International Studies and Music, the school has a student population of 2,667 undergraduates and 78 graduates, with a teaching staff of 85 professors and lecturers.

Ferris Girls' Junior & Senior High School (フェリス女学院中学校・高等学校 Ferisu Jogakuin Chūgakkō Kōtōgakkō) is a junior and senior high school for girls in Yokohama. It is a part of Ferris Jogakuin (学校法人フェリス女学院).

Naka-ku (中区) is one of the 18 wards of the city of Yokohama in Kanagawa Prefecture, Japan. In 2010, the ward had an estimated population of 146,563 and a population density of 7,080 persons per km². The total area was 20.86 km².

Sacred Heart Cathedral (Japanese: カトリック山手教会) is the seat of the bishop of the Roman Catholic Diocese of Yokohama, Japan. The Yokohama diocese includes Kanagawa, Shizuoka, Nagano, and Yamanashi prefectures. As it is located at 44 Yamate-cho, Naka-ku, the cathedral is commonly known locally as Yamate Catholic Church (カトリック山手教会, Katorikku Yamate Kyōkai). Immediately after the lifting of the a long-standing ban on Christianity, a Catholic church was built in 1862 by the Paris Foreign Missions Society in the Yokohama foreign settlement (currently Yamashita-cho). This church was moved to its current location in 1906, and was a brick building with two bell towers, which was completely destroyed during the 1923 Great Kantō earthquake. The present Yamate Catholic Church was designed by Czech architect Jan Josef Švagr in the Neo-Gothic style and completed in 1933. When the Diocese of Yokohama was erected in 1937, the Yamate church became its cathedral.Currently, Catholic Masses are held on weekdays at 7am, Saturdays at 6pm, and Sundays at 7.30am, 9.30am (English services) and 1130am. Spanish language services are held every month on the second Sunday at 2pm (excluding July and August, when no Spanish services are held).
