Tryon Country Club

Friendly Hills, also known as Margaret Culkin Banning House, is a historic estate located near Tryon, Polk County, North Carolina. The house was built in 1924, and is a large, two-story, Tudor Revival style dwelling with stuccoed exterior walls decorated with hewn, half timbering. Also on the property are the contributing swimming pool (c. 1920s-1930s), log cabin used as a writing retreat by author Margaret Culkin Banning (1891–1982) (c. 1920s-1930s), and fish pool (1920s). Ms. Banning purchased Friendly Hills in 1936 and enjoyed the property seasonally for the remainder of her life. It was added to the National Register of Historic Places in 1998.

Seven Hearths is a historic plantation house located near Tryon, Polk County, North Carolina. It was built about 1800 for Marvel (Marville) Mills - assumed built by his father Major William Mills, and is a two-story, five-bay, Federal style frame dwelling. It has exterior gable end double shouldered chimneys and flanking one bay wide, one bay deep projections. It was added to the National Register of Historic Places in 1976.

Mills-Screven Plantation, also known as Hilltop, is a historic plantation house located near Tryon, Polk County, North Carolina. The main house was built about 1820 and later expanded into the 1840s, and is a long two-story, seven-bay, Federal / Greek Revival style frame dwelling. It features a two-tier, three-bay, pedimented Ionic order portico. Also on the property are the contributing stone springhouse, guesthouse part of which is said to have been a slave cabin, double pen log crib, and a larger 20th century frame barn. It was added to the National Register of Historic Places in 1983. The original owners were slaveholders ohn McIntire and Govan Mills (1805–1862).

Mill Farm Inn is a historic country inn located near Tryon, Polk County, North Carolina. The inn was built between 1937 and 1939, and is a two-story, six bay by four bay, Colonial Revival style stone building. It is constructed of local blue granite. It was added to the National Register of Historic Places in 2009.

Tryon is a town in Polk County, on the southwestern border of North Carolina, United States. As of the 2020 census, the city population was 1,562. Located in the escarpment of the Blue Ridge Mountains, today the area is affluent and a center for outdoor pursuits, equestrian activity, and fine arts. Tryon Peak and the Town of Tryon are named for William Tryon, Governor of North Carolina from 1765 to 1771. He was honored for his negotiation with the Cherokee for a treaty during a period of conflict following the French and Indian War.

Lynncote is a historic estate located near Tryon, North Carolina. It was designed by architect Erle G. Stillwell and built in 1927–1928. It is a two-story, eight-bay, Tudor Revival style stone dwelling built on the foundation of a previous dwelling built in 1895 and burned in 1916. It features an off-center entrance pavilion, leaded-glass casement windows, and half-timbering. Other contributing resources are the estate landscape, workshop (c. 1910, c. 1928), and Lynncote Lodge (1925-1926), designed by Harold Perry Erskine. It was added to the National Register of Historic Places in 2010.

Lynn is an unincorporated community in Polk County, North Carolina, United States. Lynn is located on North Carolina Highway 108 2.7 miles (4.3 km) southwest of Columbus. Lynn has a post office with ZIP code 28750. Its incorporation was repealed in 1965.

Stone Hedge is a historic estate at 222 Stone Hedge Lane in Polk County, North Carolina, north of Tryon. The main house is a two-story structure, built primarily out of uncoursed rusticated stone. The property, originally 250 acres (100 ha) includes a single-story guesthouse with similar construction. The estate was built in 1935 by Thomas and Lillian Costa, and represents a distinctive architectural interpretation of North Carolina's mountain summer estates. The house was added to the National Register of Historic Places in 2015.

WYCW (channel 62) is a television station licensed to Asheville, North Carolina, United States, serving Western North Carolina and Upstate South Carolina. It is owned by Nexstar Media Group alongside Spartanburg, South Carolina–licensed WSPA-TV (channel 7). The two stations share studios on International Drive (next to the I-26 and I-85 Business/Veterans Parkway interchange) in Spartanburg and a transmitter on Hogback Mountain in northeastern Greenville County, South Carolina, southwest of Tryon, North Carolina. This station began broadcasting in June 1986 as WASV-TV. When it was on the air, it aired religious programming or home shopping. It was off the air between 1991 and 1994 and again from January 1996 to October 1997. WASV-TV was acquired by Pappas Telecasting and, after constructing a new tower in North Carolina, returned to the air in October 1997 as an affiliate of UPN and The WB. WSPA-TV's then-owner, Spartan Communications, programmed WASV-TV under a local marketing agreement with Pappas. The WB affiliation had already been signed for by another local station beginning in 1999, and channel 62 became a sole UPN affiliate. Spartan Communications's successor, Media General, acquired channel 62 outright in January 2002 and launched a 10 p.m. local newscast. When UPN and The WB merged in 2006, WASV-TV became the CW affiliate and changed its call sign to WYCW. On August 1, 2026, The CW affiliation moved to sister station WSPA-TV as part of a broader programming shift, making WYCW an independent station. Since 2018, the two stations have been broadcast from the same transmitter in South Carolina.

WYRD-FM (98.9 MHz, "News Talk 98.9 WORD") is a news/talk station licensed to Spartanburg, South Carolina, and covering the Upstate region, including Greenville as well as part of North Carolina. It is owned by Audacy, Inc., with studios on Garlington Road in Greenville. WYRD-FM has an effective radiated power (ERP) of 100,000 watts, the maximum for most FM stations. The transmitter is on Hogback Mountain Road in Landrum. WYRD-FM carries three local programs on weekdays: The Tara Show with Tara Servatius airs in morning drive time. Straight Talk with Bill Frady is heard in late mornings and The Charlie James Show airs in late afternoons.
