Rock Ferry railway station

St Anne's Church is a Roman Catholic church on Highfield Road in Rock Ferry, Birkenhead, Merseyside, England. It is a Grade II listed building.

Tranmere was a railway station on the Chester and Birkenhead Railway in Cheshire, England. It opened in 1846 and closed in 1857 and consisted of two platforms (only one up to 1847). It originally opened as Lime Kiln Lane and was later renamed as St. Paul's Road, finally changing to Tranmere in 1853. On 22 July 1847 the railway became part of the Birkenhead, Lancashire and Cheshire Junction Railway. The company doubled the track, which up to this time had been single track. This is the most likely time for the second platform to have been added. in 1891, the Mersey Railway opened a double track extension, and at the same time, the Birkenhead and Chester line was quadrupled, destroying any evidence of the station site.

Rock Ferry is an area of Birkenhead on the Wirral Peninsula, England. Administratively it is a ward of the Metropolitan Borough of Wirral. Before local government reorganisation on 1 April 1974, it was part of the county of Cheshire. At the 2011 Census, the population was 14,298.

It opened in June 1846 and closed on 1 November 1862, and it consisted of two platforms (only one up to 1847). In July 1847, the railway became part of the Birkenhead, Lancashire and Cheshire Junction Railway which doubled the line, probably adding the second platform to Rock Lane at this time. In 1862, Rock Lane Station closed, to be replaced with a new station a short distance away, called Rock Ferry. In 1891, the Birkenhead And Chester Line quadrupled the track, destroying any remains of the station.

Tranmere Oil Terminal is situated on the River Mersey, 1.5 mi (2.4 km) south of Birkenhead. It was opened on 8 June 1960 to handle vessels of up to 65,000 tons, at two berths (North and South). It is connected to the Stanlow Oil Refinery by a 15 mi (24 km) pipeline. Part of the terminal occupies the site of a former ferry service to Liverpool, with the extant pier considerably modified.

At the 2001 census, the population of Tranmere was 11,668. By the 2011 census the suburb was combined with the centre of Birkenhead. The population was recorded as 15,879.

Green Lane railway station is in the town of Birkenhead, Wirral, England, located in the district of Tranmere. The station is situated on the Chester and Ellesmere Port branches of the Wirral Line, part of the Merseyrail network. The station is located in a below ground level cutting accessed via tunnels at each end of the station. As initially the station accommodated steam trains it is partially open to the atmosphere above to aid ventilation.

It is the sister programme of the Liverpool Waters project. Since 2012 the two projects have enjoyed enterprise zone status, together forming the Mersey Waters Enterprise Zone.
