Tranmere Oil Terminal

The Sloyne is an anchorage in the River Mersey, in North West England. It lies off the Wirral shore between Rock Ferry and New Ferry. In past times it was used by ships of deeper draught, and was for much of the 19th century the berth of the Royal Navy training ship HMS Conway. In the 20th century it became the unloading point for the Tranmere Oil Terminal, being able to accommodate vessels of up to 65,000 tons.

Rock Ferry is an area of Birkenhead on the Wirral Peninsula, England. Administratively it is a ward of the Metropolitan Borough of Wirral. Before local government reorganisation on 1 April 1974, it was part of the county of Cheshire. At the 2011 Census, the population was 14,298.

Rock Ferry railway station is situated in the Rock Ferry area of Birkenhead, Merseyside, England. The station lies 4.5 miles (7 km) south west of Liverpool Lime Street on the Chester and Ellesmere Port branches of the Wirral Line of the Merseyrail network. The station has an island platform with four platforms in total and four tracks. Two platforms are unused with two tracks used for train stabling. The Birkenhead Dock Branch line branched off the line south of the station, with freight trains passing to the western side of the station. The freight line fell into disuse in 1993.

Tranmere was a railway station on the Chester and Birkenhead Railway in Cheshire, England. It opened in 1846 and closed in 1857 and consisted of two platforms (only one up to 1847). It originally opened as Lime Kiln Lane and was later renamed as St. Paul's Road, finally changing to Tranmere in 1853. On 22 July 1847 the railway became part of the Birkenhead, Lancashire and Cheshire Junction Railway. The company doubled the track, which up to this time had been single track. This is the most likely time for the second platform to have been added. in 1891, the Mersey Railway opened a double track extension, and at the same time, the Birkenhead and Chester line was quadrupled, destroying any evidence of the station site.

Wirral Waters is a large scale £4.5bn development that has been proposed by the Peel Group for Birkenhead, on the Wirral Peninsula, England. It is the sister programme of the Liverpool Waters project. Since 2012 the two projects have enjoyed enterprise zone status, together forming the Mersey Waters Enterprise Zone.

St Anne's Church is a Roman Catholic church on Highfield Road in Rock Ferry, Birkenhead, Merseyside, England. It is a Grade II listed building.

Rock Lane was a railway station on the Chester and Birkenhead Railway in Cheshire, England. It opened in June 1846 and closed on 1 November 1862, and it consisted of two platforms (only one up to 1847). In July 1847, the railway became part of the Birkenhead, Lancashire and Cheshire Junction Railway which doubled the line, probably adding the second platform to Rock Lane at this time. In 1862, Rock Lane Station closed, to be replaced with a new station a short distance away, called Rock Ferry. In 1891, the Birkenhead And Chester Line quadrupled the track, destroying any remains of the station.

Cammell Laird is a British shipbuilding company. It was formed from the merger of Laird Brothers of Birkenhead and Johnson Cammell & Co of Sheffield at the turn of the twentieth century. The company also built railway rolling stock until 1929, when that side of the business was separated and became part of the Metropolitan-Cammell Carriage & Wagon Company.

The Birkenhead Built-up area is an urban area in England, which covers the towns of Birkenhead, Wallasey, Bebington and Ellesmere Port. This built up area covers Merseyside and Cheshire. It is defined for certain statistical purposes by NOMIS (National Online Manpower Information System), within the Office for National Statistics. The area is partly within the Metropolitan Borough of Wirral, and partly within the Cheshire West and Chester local authority. The definition includes suburbs in the eastern part of the Wirral Peninsula physically contiguous with the main urban areas (such as Moreton and Bromborough), but not physically separate towns and villages (such as Hoylake, Heswall, and Neston). The area was originally within the historic county of Cheshire. In the 2011 census, the area was recorded at having a population of 325,264.
