Biggekerke

Valkenisse is a former municipality in the Dutch province of Zeeland, on the peninsula of Walcheren. Valkenisse was created in 1966 in a merger of Biggekerke, Koudekerke and Zoutelande, and existed until 1997, when it was merged into Veere.The municipality was named after the two hamlets Groot-Valkenisse and Klein-Valkenisse.

As of 2018, the census reported the village has a population of 3,419, making it the largest settlement in Veere. The built-up area of the village was 0.55 km², and contained 1,133 residences.

Hoogelande is a small hamlet in the Dutch province of Zeeland. It is located in the municipality of Veere, about 4 km northwest of Middelburg. Hoogelande was a separate municipality until 1816, when it was annexed by Grijpskerke.

Zoutelande (Zeelandic: Zóetelande) is a village in the southwestern Netherlands. It is located in the municipality of Veere, Zeeland, between Dishoek and Westkapelle on the former island Walcheren. On 1 January 2005 it had 1,556 inhabitants. Originally, Zoutelande was mainly an agricultural village. The village's character changed slowly into a tourist resort as the demand for beach recreation rose from about the middle of the 19th century. Zoutelande was a separate municipality until 1966, when it became a part of the new municipality Valkenisse.Nowadays, tourism is Zoutelande's most important source of existence. Zoutelande, together with the beach of Dishoek and Westkapelle, are often called "Zeeland's Rivièra", after the famous south-coast of France. It is one of Zeeland's most-visited coasts, and one of the few places in the Netherlands where the beach faces south. Plenty of rooms, studios, bungalows and apartments are available to thousands of visitors every summer; most of the tourists are of German origin, although other nationalities are also widely represented. The remaining agriculture in the area benefits of the demand for accommodation in the form of mini-campings. Bicycle-rental, beachfront establishments, hotels, B&Bs, shops and a boulevard are all to be found in and around the village. Like Domburg, Zoutelande was a favorite among Dutch painters, like Ferdinand Hart Nibbrig, Piet Mondriaan and Jan Toorop who praised its sky. It is said that the reflection of the sun on the water colors the sky more brilliantly and transparently than anywhere else.Zoutelande was the subject of a 2017 song of the same name by Dutch rock band BLØF featuring Belgian singer Geike Arnaert; the song's popularity brought some increased interest in the village.

Huis der Boede is a country house near Koudekerke in the Dutch province of Zeeland, erected in 1745 for J. van Mandere, mayor of Vlissingen. For its design, he commissioned the Antwerp architect and sculptor Jan Pieter van Baurscheidt the Younger.

Grijpskerke is a village in the Dutch province of Zeeland. It is a part of the municipality of Veere and lies about 6 km northwest of Middelburg.

Buttinge en Zandvoort (or Buttinge c.a.) is a former municipality in the Dutch province of Zeeland, which existed until 1816. In that year, it was made a part of the municipality of Grijpskerke, and it is now part of the municipality of Veere. The only recorded village in the municipality was Buttinge. Zandvoort was a former hamlet between Buttinge and Middelburg. It may have been a larger village in medieval times, but around the middle of the 19th century, there were only a former mansion and a population of about 50 left.Buttinge c.a. was a free estate before the introduction of the municipal system around 1800. As such, it automatically became a municipality, albeit sparsely populated. The estate used the following coat of arms: 'or, a double-headed eagle gules'. Upon this CoA a flag was designed, using the same eagle, but on a horizontally divided yellow and red flag. The eagle itself has then mirrored colours.In 1816, Buttinge en Zandvoort merged with Grijpskerke en Poppendamme and Hoogelande into the new municipality 'Grijpskerke', which was by far the largest settlement. Grijpskerke in turn merged into Mariekerke in 1966 and finally, in 1997, into Veere.

Restaurant De Put is a defunct restaurant, located in the cellars of the now demolished Strandhotel in Vlissingen, Netherlands. It was a fine dining restaurant that was awarded one Michelin star in both 1964 and 1965. The restaurant closed in 1974, due to dike reinforcement.Head chef of the restaurant was Willem Vader.

Domburg-Buiten is a former municipality in the Dutch province of Zeeland. It existed until 1816, when it merged with Domburg-Binnen to form the new municipality of Domburg.The municipality of Domburg-Buiten covered the countryside of Domburg. The area did not include any villages or hamlets; in the middle of the 19th century, there were about 140 inhabitants.
