Marfleet is an area of Kingston upon Hull, East Riding of Yorkshire, England, in the east of the city, near King George Dock. Marfleet was until the late 20th century a small village outside the urban area of Hull – developments including the Hull and Holderness Turnpike (1833), the Hull and Holderness Railway (1854) and the King George Dock (1914), as well as establishments of factories in the area from the late 19th century onwards (notably one by H. H. Fenner & Co., c. 1893) caused the development of the area into an industrial suburb. Parts of the former village, including the church still exist, isolated within the predominately industrial landscape.

Marfleet railway station is a disused railway station on the North Eastern Railway's Hull and Holderness Railway in the Marfleet area of the city of Hull in the East Riding of Yorkshire, England. It was opened by the Hull and Holderness Railway on 27 June 1854. The station was closed to passengers on 19 October 1964 and to freight on 1 May 1972.

Archbishop Sentamu Academy is a mixed Church of England secondary school and sixth form located in the Preston Road Estate of Kingston upon Hull, England. The school was named after John Sentamu, who, at the time, was the Archbishop of York.

Preston Road Estate, also known as the East Hull Estate, is a housing estate in the east of Kingston upon Hull built from the 1920s to the 1940s by Hull Corporation. At the beginning of the 21st century considerable redevelopment of the estate took place, with a large community centre established, and demolition or modification of older substandard houses. The Eastern Cemetery established 1931 at the east of the estate is contemporary with the original build. The estate contains few structures of note, excluding the large Archbishop Sentamu Academy.

The Marvell College is a co-educational secondary school located in Kingston upon Hull in the East Riding of Yorkshire, England. The school is named after Andrew Marvell, a 17th century metaphysical poet and politician. The school opened in 1953 as Barham High School and Jervis High School. The schools were named after HMS Barham and HMS Jervis, former Royal Navy war ships. Barham was exclusively for girls and Jervis exclusively for boys. The two schools were later combined into a single co-educational school which was later renamed first Andrew Marvell School and then Andrew Marvell College. Previously a foundation school administered by Birmingham City Council, in September 2016 Andrew Marvell College converted to academy status and was renamed The Marvell College. The school is now sponsored by the Hull Collaborative Academy Trust.The Marvell College offers GCSEs, BTECs and Cambridge Nationals as programmes of study for pupils. The school relocated into new buildings in January 2013. Since this time the school has made its facilities (mainly sports facilities) available to the local community outside of school hours.

Pensana Saltend is a future processing facility for rare earth metals at Salt End, near Hull in the East Riding of Yorkshire, England. When operating at capability, the plant aims to produce 5% of world demand for neodymium and praseodymium oxide. Work on the site started in 2021, with full opening by 2023. The facility will be the first of its kind in Europe.

Holderness Drain is the main feature of a Land Drainage scheme for the area of Holderness to the east of the River Hull in the East Riding of Yorkshire, England. Construction began in 1764, and several notable civil engineers were involved with the scheme over the years. Despite the high costs of the initial scheme, it was not particularly successful, because of the refusal of the ship owners of Hull to allow an outlet at Marfleet. They insisted that the water be discharged into the River Hull to keep the channel free of silt. Following a period of agricultural depression and the building of new docks in the early 1800s, an outlet at Marfleet was finally authorised in 1832. A high level system still fed upland water to the Hull, but the low level system discharged into the Humber, where levels were considerably lower. Following the success of steam pumping on the Beverley and Barmston Drain, the trustees looked at such a possibility for the Holderness Drain, but the development of the Alexandra Dock in the 1880s and then the King George V Dock in 1913 provided a solution, as the docks were topped up with water pumped from the drain, to lessen the ingress of silt-laden water. Responsibility for the scheme rested with the Trustees of Holderness Drainage from its inception in 1764 until 1930, when a major overhaul of land drainage legislation took place. Since then it has been managed by a catchment board, a river board, a river authority, a water authority, the National Rivers Authority and the Environment Agency. Since 1930, the smaller drainage ditches that feed into the Holderness Drain have been the responsibility of an internal drainage board. In order to improve the efficiency of the system, pumping stations were built at Tickton, Great Culvert and East Hull in 1972. However, attitudes to land drainage have changed and the Tickton station is now deemed to be uneconomic, and will be closed down unless alternative sources of income to fund its operation can be found.

Longhill is in the north-east of Kingston upon Hull, in the East Riding of Yorkshire, England. It was mainly built during the 1950s, with more than half of the homes now belonging to private owner occupiers.
