Evansville Central High School

Vanderburgh County is a county in the U.S. state of Indiana. As of 2020, the population was 180,136. The county seat is in Evansville. While Vanderburgh County was the eighth-largest county in 2020 population in Indiana, it is also the eighth-smallest county in area and the smallest in southwestern Indiana, covering only 236 square miles (610 km2). Vanderburgh County forms the core of the Evansville metropolitan statistical area.

Rex Mundi High School was a Catholic high school in Evansville, Indiana. Its name comes from the Latin King of the World. The premises are now used for Ivy Tech Community College's Evansville Campus. It opened in the fall of 1958 in a rapidly expanding area close to what was then the north city limits of Evansville. The Country Club Meadows and Country Club Manor subdivisions opened in the early to mid 1950s in the immediate vicinity of the Rex Mundi site. At the time of the opening of the high school, the Diocese of Evansville maintained a strict policy requiring those registered in Catholic parishes to send their children to diocesan schools. While it required an entrance exam for admissions (and exempted those who failed from the required attendance in the Catholic school system), Rex Mundi benefited from the diocesan attendance policy and soon was full to overflowing. The school was closed by the diocese in March 1972. Famous alumni include former All-American quarterback Bob Griese.

In 2012, the EVSC School Board decided to invest more money in students who are at risk and learn differently from traditional student and open another AIS campus. The new AIS campus at the old North High School was opened in fall 2012.

Charles Sweeton House, also known as Mount Pleasant School, is a historic home located in Center Township, Vanderburgh County, Indiana. The original two-room brick Mount Pleasant schoolhouse was built in 1888, and remodeled and expanded in 1926 into a two-story, Bungalow style private residence. The exterior is sheathed in stucco and the front facade features a full-width one-story porch with Doric order columns and a central eyebrow arch.: 6 It was added to the National Register of Historic Places in 2005.

Little Pigeon River or Little Pigeon Creek is a stream located in northwestern Spencer County and northeastern Warrick County, Indiana. The 1,000 acre watershed feeds marshland which, when the stream is high, provides a good habitat for ducks. It was the site of the Little Pigeon Creek Community, Abraham Lincoln's Indiana boyhood home, now the Lincoln Boyhood National Memorial.
