Flushing–Main Street station (LIRR)

The Wendy's massacre was a mass murder that took place in a Wendy's fast-food restaurant at 40-12 Main Street in Flushing, Queens, New York City, New York, on May 24, 2000. Seven employees were shot in the head and five of them died. The killings were committed by former Wendy's employee John Taylor along with Craig Godineaux, who had planned to rob the restaurant's safe. Taylor was subsequently sentenced to death (later changed to life imprisonment without parole), while Godineaux was sentenced to life in prison. After the shooting, the Wendy’s location was closed and boarded up until it was eventually re-opened as a shopping center in 2011.

The Flushing–Main Street station (signed as Main Street on entrances and pillars, and Main St–Flushing on overhead signs) is the eastern terminal on the IRT Flushing Line of the New York City Subway, located at Main Street and Roosevelt Avenue in Downtown Flushing, Queens. It is served by the 7 local train at all times and the <7> express train during rush hours in the peak direction.The Flushing–Main Street station was originally built as part of the Dual Contracts between the Interborough Rapid Transit Company (IRT) and the Brooklyn–Manhattan Transit Corporation (BMT). It opened on January 21, 1928, completing the segment of the Flushing Line in Queens. Although plans existed for the line to be extended east of the station, such an extension was never built. The station was renovated in the 1990s. The Metropolitan Transportation Authority (MTA) began constructing additional staircases, including four new entrances, at the station in 2022. The station has two island platforms and three tracks; the platforms are connected at their eastern end. There are nine entrances at street level, leading to two separate fare control areas at Main Street and at Lippmann Plaza. There is an elevator, which makes the station compliant with the Americans with Disabilities Act of 1990. The station is listed on the National Register of Historic Places. In 2019, it was the busiest station outside of Manhattan, as well as the 12th busiest subway station in the system.

US Post Office-Flushing Main is a historic post office building located at Flushing in Queens County, New York, United States. It was designed and built between 1932 and 1934 by architect Dwight James Baum and William W. Knowles as consulting architects to the Office of the Supervising Architect. It is a symmetrically massed, two-story steel frame building clad in oversize handmade red brick with marble trim in the Colonial Revival style. Its main facade features an entrance portico consisting of six Ionic columns that support a full pedimented entablature. The interior features a mural executed in 1933-34 by Vincent Aderente.It was listed on the National Register of Historic Places in 1988.

The Windsor School is a private junior and senior high school located in Flushing, Queens, enrolling students in grades 7–12. It is a day school for local and international students. The school certified by the Student and Exchange Visitor Program (SEVP) to issue the Form I-20, which gives a student the opportunity to apply for a F-1 Visa. The art department offers students the opportunity to take Advanced Placement (AP) Studio Art: Drawing or 2-D Design, in addition to creative crafts and experimental art electives. The athletics department includes soccer, tennis, basketball, and track and field. The school's athletes compete in the Metro League, which comprises private schools throughout the New York City metropolitan area.

The Free Synagogue of Flushing is a historic synagogue located at 41-60 Kissena Boulevard in Flushing, Queens, New York City. It was added to the National Register of Historical Places in 2009. Its establishment is based on the free synagogue movement, started by Stephen Samuel Wise.

Joe's Shanghai (simplified Chinese: 鹿鸣春; traditional Chinese: 鹿鳴春; pinyin: Lù Míng Chūn) is a chain of seven Shanghainese restaurants in the United States and Japan. The original location was opened by restaurateur Mei Ping "Barbara" Matsumura and chef Kiu Sang "Joe" Si in 1995 in Flushing, Queens, followed by branches in Manhattan Chinatown and Midtown Manhattan. There are four locations in Japan, two in Tokyo, one in Osaka and one in Sendai. Ms. Matsumura has opened over a dozen restaurants in the New York City area, including the popular Haru sushi chain, while Chef Si also opened Joe's Ginger one block from the Manhattan Chinatown location of Joe's Shanghai, building on the original concept but incorporating the influence of other Chinese cuisines, most notably from Hong Kong.

The Flushing Friends Quaker Meeting House, also the Old Quaker Meeting House, is a historic Quaker house of worship located at 137-16 Northern Boulevard, in Flushing, Queens, New York. It was declared a National Historic Landmark in 1967 and a New York City designated landmark in 1970. Today, it still serves as a Quaker Meeting, with meetings for worship taking place every Sunday.
