The Zuckerberg San Francisco General Hospital and Trauma Center (ZSFG) is a public hospital in San Francisco, California, under the purview of the city's Department of Public Health. It serves as the only Level I Trauma Center for the 1.5 million residents of San Francisco and northern San Mateo County. It is the largest acute inpatient and rehabilitation hospital for psychiatric patients in the city. Additionally, it is the only acute hospital in San Francisco that provides 24-hour psychiatric emergency services. In addition to the approximately 3,500 San Francisco municipal employees, the University of California, San Francisco (UCSF) provides approximately 1,500 employees (including physicians, nurses and ancillary personnel), and the SFGH serves as one of the teaching hospitals for the UCSF School of Medicine. The hospital, especially its Ward 86, was instrumental in treating and identifying early cases of AIDS. A new San Francisco General Hospital acute care building was completed in 2016 for a total approximate cost of $1.02 billion. A $75 million donation by Facebook founder Mark Zuckerberg and his wife Priscilla Chan covered approximately 7.35% of the overall cost. In recognition, the hospital was renamed after the couple.The hospital is a safety net hospital additionally serving poor, elderly people, uninsured working families, and immigrants. As of 2014, 92 percent of the patient population at SFGH either receives publicly funded health insurance (Medicare or Medi-Cal) or is uninsured.SFGH is rare in that its emergency rooms do not have agreements in place with private health care insurance providers. Until 2019, privately insured patients were often billed the balance of their care, which could be sizable. This practice was changed after media attention regarding the hospital's billing practices.SFGH provided $74,620,877 of services with unrecovered payments in year ending 2020-06-30.

The Farm, (founded 1974) also known as Crossroads Community,: 43  was an environmental art and performance art project that also operated as a community center. The Farm was located at the corner of Army Street (later renamed Cesar Chavez Street) and Potrero Avenue in San Francisco, California, from 1974 to 1987. It was founded by Bonnie Ora Sherk and Jack Wickert in 1974.: 43  The open space incorporated a major freeway interchange and is now site of Potrero del Sol Park (formally La Raza Park).Sherk referred to the thirteen year-long project as an "environmental sculpture" where edible crops were grown, livestock were raised and educational programming took place. Sherk spoke of the project: "We're attempting to reconnect people and humanize environments" and that the "growth process in life is like the creative process in art."

Vermont Street is a north–south street in the Potrero Hill district of San Francisco, one of a series of streets in the Potrero Hill district named after American battleships. It begins at Division Street near the South of Market area and runs south, paralleling the U.S. 101 freeway. At 22nd Street Vermont Street jumps to the other side of the freeway via a pedestrian bridge. That piece ends at 25th Street; Vermont resumes at 26th Street back on the east side of the freeway and continues to its south end at Cesar Chavez Street.

Potrero Hill is a residential neighborhood in San Francisco, California. Rancho Potrero de San Francisco or Rancho Potrero Nuevo was approximately 1,000-acre (4.0 km2) Mexican land grant in the present day Potrero Hill neighborhood of San Francisco, California. The rancho included the land from the bay at Point San Quentin, (later called Potrero Point) between Mission Creek to the north and Islais Creek and its tributary Precita Creek to the south, including Potrero Hill and land sloping down to the west of it to its boundary with Rancho Rincon de las Salinas y Potrero Viejo between Mission and Precita Creeks.

Sunshine School is a historic 1937 school building and former school in the Mission District neighborhood in San Francisco, California, U.S.. It was first built as a private school for students with physical disabilities; and it later became a continuation high school. It also went by the names Sunshine Orthopedic School, Sunshine High School, and as Hilltop High School. The building has been listed by the city as a San Francisco Designated Landmark since March 15, 2019. It now contains the San Francisco Unified School District's Cal-SAFE program, the Hilltop School, and various community agencies.

The Potrero Hill Neighborhood House (also known as "The NABE") is a multipurpose community center and historic building built in 1922 at 953 DeHaro Street in the Potrero Hill neighborhood of San Francisco, California, U.S.. The Potrero Hill Neighborhood House has been listed as a San Francisco Designated Landmark since July 9, 1977.

Acción Latina is a Latino cultural nonprofit organization founded in 1970, and located in the Mission District at 2958-24th Street, San Francisco, California. They publish El Tecolote bilingual newspaper, lead the Paseo Artístico community art stroll, and operate the Juan R. Fuentes Gallery. Acción Latina hosts diverse community driven visual, literary and performing arts events. They also manage the digital archives of El Tecolote, which span 45 years of publications.The nonprofit was formed from a class group project at San Francisco State University in the 1970s.

Mutiny Radio is an internet radio station operating from the Mission District of San Francisco, California. The station has an eclectic talk format, hosting local shows with interviews, as well as live performances of comedy, music, hip-hop, theater, storytelling, philosophy and poetry. Shows are streamed live online and made available in podcast form on ITunes and other platforms. Mutiny radio reports on progressive, alternative, independent news through their site. Their in-station gallery is available to local visual artists showcasing their work.

M5 Industries (M5) is a special effects company located in San Francisco, California, best known as the working lab of the TV series MythBusters. Founded in 1997 by Jamie Hyneman, it specialized in producing props for movies and television. Following the conclusion of filming the Mythbusters series, it became a research and development firm.

Double Union is a San Francisco hacker/maker space. Double Union was founded by women in 2013 with the explicit goal of fostering a creative safe space. The organization’s mission is to be a community workshop where women and nonbinary people can work on projects in a comfortable, welcoming environment.Members hold public and members-only events for activities and workshops like zine making, paper circuits and electronics, coding, sewing, 3-dimensional printing, lightning talks, print making and many others. Key carrying members are allowed to invite guests of any gender.

Balmy Alley (formally Balmy Street) is a one-block-long alley that is home to the most concentrated collection of murals in the city of San Francisco. It is located in the south central portion of the Inner Mission District between 24th Street and Garfield Square. Since 1973, most buildings on the street have been decorated with a mural.
